- More Latino rummmmbbaaaaaa Jerry !
"A Latino Session" Live at Los Angeles's "Biltmore Bowl", August 2. 1989.
2nd segment of this 1 hour long "Latino Session" where good ol' Jerry appears as guest in two songs. The second with Ruben Blades and where takes the spicy lead at 5:40 ... but the smiles are throughout.
Already posted but unless you had typed out the perfect "key" words, it wasn't really seen (by me at least).
PS : Apparently, this was actually shot at the Hollywood Roosevelt for SHOWTIME, not the Biltmore. Go figure.
It's fun to see Jerry moving around on stage like he used to way back in the early days. Plus, to see that twinkle in his eye, it's a very heart warming performance. His music will live forever!
When Jerry had the groove, nothing better❤️
Jerry turned 47 the day before this show. It looks like he got a new pair of tennis shoes for his birthday.
This is amazing..Ralph Irizarry was my landlord and friend for 10 years in Brooklyn. I knew he toured and played with Ruben but I never knew that he played with Jerry Garcia!!
Ralph is a humble and unassuming guy with a wonderful family. I used to hear his rehearsals with his salsa band upstairs from my basement apt.( great stuff).I knew of the Latin music greats he crossed paths with but he never told me that he jammed with Garcia,,
The pure joy on Jerry's face says so much about how he was about the music be it blues, country, psychedelic free flowing name , bluegrass, flock of salsa!!
that's mad cool
Jerry Garcia slayed that solo!!! One versatile cat for sure!!! rip JG 😉🙏
I watch this every so often, to remind myself how much Garcia loved just to play with other musicians, and not to bear responsibility for a million fans who turned him into some kind of deity that suffocated him.
A minor detail, but the title of the track is "Muevete!" - with an exclamation mark, not an "l." In Spanish, "Muevete" translates as "Move Yourself!" - or, more simply, "Move!"
I love seeing Jerry so happy! Hard not to be happy playing latin music.
Seeing Jerry smile like that made my heart sing. Joy in music.
Jerry loved great precision sections so much. This is fabulous.
Jerry hadn't moved so much on stage in years... that Jerry smile. This is so good!!!! Thanks!!!! 🤗🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹😁
So much fun watching Jerry smile and dance with music. Oh my I miss him, but his music and mystec live in my heart. There are leads I could listen to for hour upon hour. Jerry brought me a gift that will always be with me.
Jerry shaking his ramba. He looks happy.
Bryan Blackledge yeah, good to see...kept me smiling too!
great to see him playin on a whole other level...lettin it all hang out and lovin it!!! fantastiche!!
Good ol' Jerry appears as guest. In this second song, with Ruben Blades, he takes the spicy lead at 5:40 ... but the smiles are throughout.
THIS IS SUCH A GREAT VIDEO.. THANKS FOR POSTING IT. I HAVE WATCHED MANY TIMES IN THE PAST YEARS... LOVE JERRY & RUBEN AND THE BAND
I love seeing Jerry in these unexpected musical settings! He brings so much joy to the party
The amount of legendary musicians this man played with is incredible: Ornette Coleman, Branford Marsalis, Santana, CSN&Y, Bruce Hornsby, Ruben Blades, and I'm sure many more I'm forgetting or don't know about!
WOW! And Celia Cruz at the very end. Unreal. Had no idea Jerry jammed with Ruben Blades and shared the stage with the greatest Diva of Latin music Celia . RIP to both Jerry and Celia Cruz. Your music will live forever.
Rarely see Jerry any more animated than this. Looks like they all had fun this night!
Saw Ruben Blades with his band great show , great voice and fabulous musicians. The way Ruben Bladus honors. Jerry is very, very humbling and honored. Great song great show I wish I was there.
Wow Jerry is dancing!
somewhere on the Internet is it video of Jerry doing some flamingo dancing with a rose in his teeth I'm trying to look this up right now
@@arlenmargolin1650 duddde I need to see that
Always good to see the Messiah, aka Jerry
love seeing Jerry so animated and happy. Clear he's really enjoy this jam! thanks for sharing... forever grateful
Garcia should of done more of these. He was great !
Can't help but get up and dance to this!
Love seeing jerry having a great time.
Thank Lolo this is what I needed 🤗💋🤗💋
Good love , great work . Jerry pokes his head at the camera towards the very end, which is exactly the way he poked his head at individual fans sometimes while playing and interacting eyeball to eyeball with happy joyful listeners, while performing. Thanks.
have to give thanks to ya putting this out there...i didnt know, made my day and then some!
Jerry feeling stupendous.
Even though it was 25 years ago, it sounds fresh an alive. Ruben Blades one greatest salsa/world music musicians of all times brings on the late great Jerry Garcia who shows his latin roots all the way. Thanks Lolo. PS: and Ralph Irizarry was skinny wao! long time ago.
Jerry was soo happy, I miss those days
I can't believe I've never seen this before. I thought I'd seen all things Jerry!
I never saw this or knew about it until now
This is another example of what Salsa music is and the possiblitys of what can be done with any other type of music.Case in point Jerry Garcia, who is of spanish decent and plays blues & rock music fits right in with the Ruben Blades band. For all of you out there who may not be familar with " Salsa," well before there was any rock & roll , funk, or pop music there was was Salsa a music with roots that go back over a 100 yrs.
This is Awesomeness!!! With Marc Quiñones too on congas, soon to join the ABB - far farking out 😊
God Jerry looks great , what a sparkle !
The Conga player also played with the Allman Brothers.❤️
Garcia sizzles! Yes!!! 👍🏻
AWESOME
wow the ending of this gets nutty
Celia Cruz!!!!! Tito puente!!! and others fill the stage at very end. What an amazing show this must have been
Marc quinones from the Allman brothers next Jerry on the precussions
Was going to ask that. Thought that was him.
Lucky people.
Ruben Blades is the author of "El Cantante"....a great song performed by Hector Lavoe* (* one of the best salsa singer of all the times...they call him litterally "Cantante de los cantantes..Singer of all the singers)
Great to know about this live collaboration
still missing you jerry
wow
Hi people I love this song. Just ask yourself why we can comment on this song but not on pete el conde rodriguez song Pueblo latino. It the same message to our Latin countries with the racial of America. Let listen to what these great singers say and the youth of today better wake up.
well most of the musicians from this band are puerto rican but ruben blades is from panama, and this song was writen by a cuban musician named juan formell from a group called los van van,but this type of music is a mix of soouth african rhythms with latin feel.
My favorite Ruben Blades Song and it speaks about what's happen now in Baltimore This song is for you Baltimore
Originally by los van van, still my fav version.
Most people don't realize this but Jerry Garcia really wanted to start a psychedelic Mambo band but had trouble convincing everyone that there would be a future in psychedelic rumba and the sort but if Jerry had his way he would have been jamming along with trumpets and marimbas but chances are this could have been just a dream I had one night
That's cool even if it was a dream. Great dream. Jerry's leads sometimes sounded like horns to me.
Jerry shreds man
Ludnica, čoveče!! :)
Jerry gave that tune the balls it had been lacking up until his solo. You could see it really woke everybody up!
Love this! Jerry is having so much fun and rips the lead to shreds!!
Puerto Rican Music?
It's salsa. Ruben is actually from Panama.
I think jerry blew all the power out of the spiritual section
SALUDOS. UN VERDADERO PACHUCO... NUESTRO CENTROAMERICANO RUBÉN BLADES. JERRY GARCÍA UN MAESTRO LATINO DE LA GUITARRA. VIVA LATINOAMERICA.
I like Ruben Blades in Predator 2 and Fear The Walking Dead.
Cool. Jer steps up at 5:42
I wish jerry would have played with that edge and joy more often w the boys
The amount of talent on this stage is stupefying. It REALLY speaks volumes about Jerry’s talent that not only does he keep up, but he absolutely shines on a tune he likely never played, in a style that he rarely if ever played.
I wish Jerry would have cut loose more often w the deaf and jgb
Jerry looked like he really liked being part of the background rhythm for once. He was there for fun, and not to be the star of the show.
how did Jer happen into this ?
@Burr Anderson One of the things i love about Jerry is that he didn't acknowledge politics. esp in conjunction with music.
@Burr Anderson
That asshole's name has no business on a Jerry comment board.

@Burr Anderson are all deadheads just programmed NPCs?. what's it like having no internal monologue and just supporting whatever your betters tell you to? genuinely curious.
Here's Part 1 with Carlos Santana and Jerry Garcia:

Jerry's guitar has a spanish accent
Lenin stays!
I lived in LA and watched this back then. I remember thinking why doesn't Jerry look this happy in the Dead? I don't think he enjoyed the company of his bandmates that much. Maybe that's why he preferred to shoot smack alone.
Jerry didn't shoot, you moron. imagine posing as a fan and being so ignorant lol
@@leshtricity dial it back buddy
jerrys tone though...let's just say it's not exactly as crisp as his 70s sound.
The Dead should have hired this keyboardist instead Vince.
no
Chaotic and not well grounded.
