- If you have a new Mac or a new Magic Mouse, you’ll need to connect Magic Mouse to Mac before using it.
This is the example same process for any Mac, from iMac, MacBook, or Mac mini and MacBook Air.
First, make sure your mouse is charged. Then slide over the button on the back of the mouse.
Now, jump into your Mac and make sure Bluetooth is turned on. Magic Mouse works via Bluetooth with your Mac.
It should recognize your mouse. Click connect and you should be able to get started using your new mouse.

“Try connect another mouse” genius…
💀💀💀💀
He’s a numpty
How shitty can this product even get ? Putting the charging cable on the underside and all this.
Brilliant. Thank you. The quickest way for me to connect the magic mouse was to connect it via cable. All the best, Cheers Rick
Muchas Gracias! No conectaba sin el cable, sin el video no se me hubiera ocurrido conectarlo así. Thank You So much!
Thank you for the tips! I was able to connect my mouse thanks to you!
thank you man, I just connected it and am using it atm for the first time ever. this is also my first Macbook ever and it made my UA-cam editing experience A BILLION TIMES BETTER OMG!
Thanks. Was having issues getting it to connect via BluTooth. Didn't even think about plugging it in directly with a lightening cable. Worked like a charm. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for the helpful video!
Thank you for the great information!
Thank you 🙏 very helpful!
The cord worked! Thank you.
Thank you. I was able to connect.

thanks dude!
It worked, thank you.
Yep found it helpful😊
Thank you !
Thanks!
Thank you so much
Thanks buddy
Thank you broh ❤
thank you bro
Thank you
thanks!!!
I see the pointer working from the get-go. But you haven't set up Bluetooth as yet. How did you make that happen? The idea of plugging in the mouse to the charger is brilliant.
so get a second mouse to connect the apple mouse, amazing
brilliant!
What worked for me was - having the cable connected to the mouse and plugged it in the charging port so it’s connected and I unplugged it.
Do you do private tutoring for the MAC?
I don't understand how to connect the mouse when I don't have a mouse connected - you're connecting a mouse that's already connected! I don't have a lighting cable that is compatible
When you forget to charge it, you're screwed. Try using a dead mouse with a charging cable stuck into the charging port in the bottom of the mouse - Good Luck with that. Having had my magic mouse die on several, inconvenient occasions, I keep an old backup Apple mouse around that uses regular batteries. It connects immediately when you cut it on.
Here is the thing bro... 2 minutes of charge gets you 8 hrs of battery life. Just plug it in and go take a potty break, and you will be good for the rest of your avg work day. Have fun mousing :)
How can i connect my magic mouse in my work macbook pro and my own macbook at the same "time", like i turnoff my work macbook and then automacally connects in my own macbook?
thank you, the tipp to connect the lightning cable with usb to the Mac mini help me!
What do you do if you don't have a charging port. My mouse is powered by batteries and I have good batteries in it but my mac doesn't see it
How do I change the battery on my Apple mouse
After I plugged my mouse to computer and may sure it was connected on screen then unplugged the mose it worked
Yeah physical connection needed
What if it says Disconnect on the Magic Mouse 2 option? Does that mean I have to disconnect current Magic Mouse to activate the new one?
None of these steps worked for me, unfortunately! Luckily, I found an old wired mouse and connected it to my Imac, and got everything going again. Sometimes it really helps to keep old devices around!
Great tut, thank you. In my case , I'm using a new MacBook Pro and I get a message that says, "Connection Rejected" and nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?
I’m here facing the same problem. Any suggestions?
@@Zainab-ks Go to system preferences and go over to the mouse settings (it’s right next to keyboard and trackpad). Click on connect Bluetooth mouse at the bottom and that should work 👍
The last point works with this annoying “connection rejected” issue, use lightning to USB-C cable to directly connect the Magic Mouse to Mac, wait couple minutes, wala it is now connected!
@@Mctthew : this doesn’t work, physical connection is needed
Well both option didn’t work for me. It says connected. But my mouse is not responding to my movements
Do a quick Charge - connect to computer for few minutes. Then charge later o’night. Charge level can be checked in system preferences …
what if there's two mouses on one computer how u switch it off the one mouse and swap it to the other mouse
I tried the steps and it's not showing up under devices. So I am using a regular mouse for now. Can you help.
Hi, how do I charge the mouse without the regular USB output? My Mac Book air does not have the regular USB output. Thank You 🙏🏽
You can buy usb c to lightning. Or just use an old power adapter which supports usb
Lightning cable doesn’t help me. I connected my mouse with cable but don’t see any signs it recognized.
So how is it done when the Mac is stuck at login screen and Magic Keyboard is not working
it is quite annoying that the mouse does not want to switch easy between devices like with AirPods e.g. Now I basically need 2 mouses to be hassle free (not having to confirm via a cable everytime) isn't it?
That’s Apple design issue
@@angy97 i guess. In meantime bought another 2nd hand one as well
So use another mouse ???
At the Apple store I was told this mouse was compatible with m 2015 early version monterey MacBook pro. The ports on my laptop are not compatible to hook up the mouse. What are my options???
An adapter with matching ends or a charger for mouse cable
The Magic Mouse is heavy and doesn't move as swiftly/easy. The only thing its good at is scrolling. Its smooth so scrolls are easy. I wouldn't recommend buying
How do you connect if your magic mouse and keyboard DO NOT have a port to plug into (runs on AA batteries)??
I don’t know, it’s the same for me and I still don’t know how to connect it because I can’t plug anything in the mouse
I have 1000 pictures but the photos app takes up 10 gb whereas I have family members with over 1500 pictures that up less than 2 gb. My question is what should I do to bring the gb amount way down besides deleting stuff which I’ve already done. Most of my photos have been taken as “Live Photos” unintentionally, i’m thinking that could be the problem? If so what should I do?
i get netiher the pop up nor the bluetooth suggestion
MIne connects but doesn't work properly . I don't get right click drop downmenu
The video skips over one absolutely critical part - how to hook the cable to the computer itself. Older models (mine is circa 2015) have ports that are incompatible with the cable it comes with.
Try connecting to cable that has ends matching computer and the mouse or get a charger to suit mouse cable.
someone help me, on my bluetooth it shows that the mouse is connected but it won't work.
Mouse working but not typing
he didn't mention that you can pair the mouse just by plugging it in with the lightning cable besides the Bluetooth
he did, by the end of the video
How to add another mouse except the Mac mouse
Didnt work for me 😥
I have this mouse. It is so uncomfortable...
only oku use it mouse
"1) Open bluetooth preferences.
2) Plug in mouse (until charged, if necessary).
3) Unplug mouse".
Done.
Show the method first and then list color options and devices.
TL;DR
Just Plug it in.
Sorry, none of this works at all. Not discoverable and Bluetooth is on.
How to disconnect magic mouse without mouse
My God I hate Apple. I bought an expensive Track Pad and my brand new Mac Studio just forgets it after already being connected. Then when I try to reaquire it it says "This Mac can no longer connect to XYZ Magic Trackpad". Why tf do I have to even go to a freaking YT video for literally everything associated with Apple products. An example of this is I could not view my hard drive just this morning. I had to activate special settings a mile deep just to look at my freaking hard drive and copy files. Things that Windows does with a single right mouse click. I hate hate hate Apple.
Oh and the only option to select for the mouse is "Forget Device"!!!!
This was stolen
What do you mean
mine is super slow is there a solution?
Thank you
