I love your channel. It's very informative and very precise in details. And I can't thank u enough for doing so. I'm currently working on my 1978 wellcraft and it has a Aplha one gen 1 with a 470 mercruiser
We very much appreciate that, thank you. That’s awesome you’re working on your 78. The alpha one gen 1 is a friendly outdrive to work on…unless corroded by salt water. 😁👍🧰
Hi! I have a Mercruiser 1989 410 3.0 alpha 1 gen one. I changed the 4 spark plugs and cables but forgot to take photos to reinstall the 1342 sequence on the dis cap. Is there any way to know what goes where? Also, the new cables do not cover entirely the spark plug like do yours and the old ones I replaced. Is it ok nevertheless? Thank you so much for your video: having seen it BEFORE 😮, there are some mistakes I wouldn’t regret now😢.
@@lucesainte-marie9017 Thanks for watching, any update? If your outdrive firing order is also 1-3-4-2 like ours is, you can follow the exact steps set forth in this video. 😁👍🧰
Will an incorrect points gap limit the WOT? I recently pulled my motor and replaced the distributor, cap and rotor, plugs, fuel pump, carb but can't get it to WOT and am thinking the brand new distributor doesn't have a correct point???????
Thanks for watching, great question. It can be as simple as old worn out plugs and wires. In addition, the below items can cause coil to overheat. 1. Distributor point not properly set 2. An electrical short or loose connection on coil 3. Engine timing off 🧰

Thanks for watching and indeed it can. Setting the points properly may solve your issue. 😎👍🧰
Would it not be easier to leave the gap guage in there then tighten up the screw against it and then slide out the gap guage?
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Great point and that will be personal preference. 👍
Thanks, I love point gaps!
