That last speech between the king with his daughter you noticed they zoomed on that dagger? When he was talking about the winter and the song of ice and fire. That Dagger is the same valyrian steel dagger that Arya Stark used to kill the Night King.

That's not part of this show's canon. I've been saying this for a while now. HotD is not a prequel to D&D's GoT. It's too tainted by that ending.

Targaryens have prophetic dreams called Dragon Dreams. They're dreams are like a prophecy. Like looking through a keyhole at ur future. Remember Daenery's dreaming of the Iron Throne covered in snow , and now we know Aegon Targaryen not only came to Westros to conquer, but also becuz he had a dream of the army of the dead. So when King Visery said his dream was clearer than a memory that it will be a son , it was pretty obviously it was going to be.
Getting cuts from sitting on the iron throne is a way of the chair (universe) telling the king he’s worthy enough to be king.
I read another comment that said since dragon's fire was used to forge the Iron Throne, and that has magic, that the throne became sentient in a way. And that's why it has the 'ability' to reject the unworthy.

It's a brutal scene to watch,. Parallel from when rheanerya and her mother was talking. Saying childbirth is the battlefield for women in this world. To the cutting scenes back and forth from the tourney battle to her on the birthing bed is brilliant

After rewatching several Times My most favourite moment was at the end of the episode when we can hear DragonsScreaming / All the Dragons roared as one....this gives me vibes of Game of Thrones season 1 episode 3 ending when Ned hears some past battle War sounds🐉🔥

Nice idea's about the throne and wounds to the King (Viserys) But it simply shows that he isn't ruling well If you recall Danny's father the Mad king was always cutting himself on the throne as well he ended up having the nickname of king Scab also the 2nd king Maegor (The crawl) Died on the throne as a sword went through him Also Not all Targaryen's are fire prof remember what happened to Danny's brother in Episode 6 season 1 of GOT the golden crown

One of the great things about A Song of Ice & Fire and it’s spin-offs is that characters are mostly neither good or bad, they’re surviving in a brutal world and striving for advancement. Forget thinking to see if someone is either/or, that’s what caused so much of the mad carry-on resulting from season 8 of GoT.
Real world medieval politics were all based round access to the throne. Otto Hightower’s actions, for instance, are perfectly understandable in that kind of world

Personally, i liked Viserys as king (and i must say he was my favorite in this ep: i don't know, maybe i have a soft spot for apparently weak sovereign, but when it needs they aren't, such ad Emperor Charles in "Vikings"): as you said, he didn't want to be king, but now that he is, he does what he must, being a bridge between the council and his younger ambitious brother, and a good ruler: we have to remember that there was peace (as Rhaenys told her husband during the tourney) and Viserys wanted it to last. That's why he was obsessed to have a male son, in order not to have the same problem as his predeccesor.
That was a very good pilot and finally we have the feeling that old seasons of GOT gave us.

He may have been weak in dealing with his own family and the succession, but his reign was extraordinarily prosperous, successful and long-lived, so it's not like he was a total incompetent.
@@noneofyourbeeswax01 Exactly. He wanted to continue the prosperity his predecessor had estabilished (Jaehaerys). Maybe he was weak in family and succession matters, but at the same time i don't think it was his fault, or at least at the beginning (I haven't read Fire and Blood yet)
This premier pulled me right back in! They did an amazing job giving us history & setting up the story. The guys who make up the City Watch were hand picked by Daemon, and they’re from flea bottom/have lived in the city, so they know who the criminals are & what crimes are taking place. The baby, Baelon, started choking right after being born, you can hear it when the camera zooms in on the maester holding him. As for Queen Aemma’s death, it was either they both die or they attempt to save the baby; the queen wasn’t surviving either way. As for King Viserys, I think he’s a good man, but his ruling is weakened by him wanting to appease everyone (if that makes sense). Daemon is very interesting to me. I don’t think he’s off in the head, I just think his style is brutal, more aggressive. I think of it like the mountain vs the hound; the mountain was brutal & off in the head, the hound was brutal, but not nuts.

His Daughter Rhaenyra to Reign. Because he Taught Her How to. But a Contender Emerges Later On.
I’d been waiting for this after being unable to join live, so it’s lovely to see you both. And finally someone points out that Daemon had a point in that last row with his brother! I’ve seen so many saying he’s the villain, but I didn’t think that. If anything he seemed one of the few telling the truth and it seems to me that Otto is the Little Finger of this show right now, manipulating everyone except Daemon, who he’s trying to keep as far from his brother as possible. I know there wasn’t really a choice with the birth, but the way the king didn’t even try to explain to her and instead let her die terrified. Another example of how weak he is for me. Loved the first ep, great introductions, great acting, fabulous music.

I NEED TO SAY(and explain some things):
if you are going to be bothered with incest then it is best not to consume anything about targaryens, they are not normal humans, targaryens literally have magic blood, dragon blood, and to maintain that they need to marry each other, and incest does not affect them in any way, that's why they keep practicing like is nothing, targaryens aren't affected by incest because of their magical blood, so there's no consequence for their incest, they've been practicing incest since ancient valyria, it's part of their culture, it's not something abnormal or unusual for them, it's just normal, the only ones that the targaryens see as only family FAMILY are father and mother, otherwise they can fall in love for their relatives, and it's not a surprise between them because again IT'S PART OF THEIR CULTURE, they've always been like that, some even say that many people in old valyria don't even knew they were doing something wrong, according to other cultures, when they married a sibling for example, valyrians are simply different, in blood and in culture, in house of the dragon there will be a lot of incest because it's a story starring targaryens, daemon and viserys' parents were siblings, viserys and aemma were cousins, there will be several marriages in HOTD and almost all of them will be between targaryens/velaryons(and the velaryons that will marry targaryens have targaryen blood too, they're family too), almost everyone is related at some level, it's better to start to see them as non-human beings with magical blood who have a very different culture.
OBS: and in fact cousin/uncle-niece incest was common in most of westeros, starks have married cousins and uncles-nieces several times, GOT makes it seem like this is not common in westeros and that only targaryens practiced it but this is not true , even tywin lannister was married to his cousin, and he had jaime, cersei and tyrion with that woman, the house that most practiced incest after the targaryens were the starks, the only incest that the targaryens practiced that the rest of westeros didn't practice was among siblings, for the targaryens to marry siblings was normal, and that was forbidden in westeros, and forbidden by the religion of the 7 too, only the targaryens did it because "like dragons targaryens don't obey neither men nor gods", they were the exception, they could do that because they were targaryens, even in GOT they try to make it look like jon and daenerys wouldn't be accepted for being aunt and nephew when in fact no one would care, this type of relationship was common throughout all the westeros, they weren't even siblings, they were just aunt and nephew, something common to happen in westeros, I mean mainly daenerys, she wouldn't give af, she grew up with her valyrian culture, learning about it, she grew up being a targaryen, daenerys' parents were siblings and she even thought she would marry her brother until he sold her to khal drogo, btw that's probably why many people who have only seen GOT and not read the books are confused by incest in the world of ASOAF.
AND one more thing... there is no such thing as targaryen madness, only two targaryens were mad in the entire dynasty, and none of them was born mad, aerys II(the mad king) for example spent years being tortured and went through a lot, and then he went mad, targaryens have magic blood and aren't afflicted by common diseases, there are all sorts of people in the house targaryen, and madness was never a thing, the coin quote is not a common thing to be said in westeros, it has only been mentioned once in books about a personal opinion, D&D only reinforced this "targaryen madness" to try to justify the ending they would give to daenerys, if you notice they didn't even mention it in the first seasons.

I hated Game of Thrones later seasons so much, I wouldn't recommend it to others... and somehow I still bought into the hype and wanted to watch this show. Weird.
