YO. Sorry about the sound on this one. Didn't realize the mic was clipping until after. You win some, you lose some, I suppose. Anyway, share your SSOT here in the comments. Finally, we're currently running a HUGE Strong ON! membership sale and INCLUDED is a free SSOT training plan, coming to all members next month. If you're been thinking about joining, and especially if you dig SSOT, this week would be a great time to take advantage. www.chroniclesofstrength.com/strongonmegasale
Dear Pat, Thank you for all the great work and sharing so much with us. I love the idea of SSOT and plan to do it when I am finished with Dan John's Easy Strengh. I understand that you see SSOT more as a 3-workouts-a-week with A/B day but still wanted to ask: could you imagine doing SSOT daily 5 days a week, having the Other Thing beeing one the 5 basics (push, pull, squat, abs, loaded carry) for each day for instance? Or something else? Having a shorter daily workout fits my life better and makes me feel great. Cheers.
Love this idea Pat. Thanks. Just some feedback for ya, theres a huge market for on Demand workouts. Now in theory, you telling us what to do and us doing it should be enough! But the reality is that tons of people want real time follow along videos with you inspiring us, yelling at us, or making us laugh. And lets be honest. Youd be great at that! Just a thought.
I think hanging leg raises or ab wheel would be a great “other thing”. That would be a great companion for your minimalist double clean+press/squat program or one of the ABC variations. 2 days of press/squat and 3 days of SSOT should check plenty of boxes 💪💪
@@dalewilliams9154 I’d say that’s fine if snatching is something you want to improve specifically, otherwise I’d generally go with another exercise that isn’t hip dominant.
Looks to be similar to a Dan John workout I saw in his yt recently. I think it was 20 swings 3 pull-ups 5 dips then wait 30 seconds. Good combination of strength and conditioning.
Hey Pat, your thoughts on adding a dead snatch to lunge, let's say 5 reps as the "other thing" switching sides every 3rd minute? Great channel and thank you for the awesome content
Sound quality is terrible. Other than that, in an incredible example of serendipity, I independently created this idea today during my morning workout.
This sounds like a great protocol. I committed myself to 8 weeks of alternating the ABC and Humane Burpee three days a week(I got tired of thinking about programming 😂). This looks like a fun one to do for a while, maybe alternating presses and pullup three days a week. Squats seem like they'd be hard to mix in though, that'd be kinda rough on the legs if you did more than 20 minutes.
For squats, it really depends on how you program them. Heavy, high rep sets might be hard to maintain for an extended period. However, ladders or staggered rep sequences can work quite well. Experiment, then let us know how it goes. 💪
Just do squats on a light/short day. With 5 rounds you can still hit 100 or more swings, keeping the squat volume manageable and you’re done in 15 minutes
This is my holiday workout. Take one 24kg kettlebell, other thing being either press or goblet squat. Feel great when away. When i used to do it at home, dips were my favourite other thing

Swing, swing, pushups!
Also, you remind me of every home schooled kid I've ever met. Total compliment.
Thanks! I wasn’t homeschooled myself, but we are homeschool our five children.

Oh, yeah, both of those exercises are stellar for this. Just hit the ab wheel hard today!
Hey Pat could your other thing be Snatches? Or is that to close to Swings?

Dan loves on the clock training. We both do. Pretty sure we’ve podcasted about the advantages of EMOM several times.
