- The Newport Beach Pier is one of two municipal piers located within the city of Newport Beach, Southern California, at the center of the Balboa Peninsula. With 1,032 feet long, Newport Pier is one of several prominent piers in Newport Beach. From this wooden structure you can look south to see the Balboa Pier, the second major pier in the Orange County city. Newport Pier, historically known as McFadden’s Wharf, is where the Dory Fishermen dock their dory boats and bring in their catch of the day, selling them to the public at the Dory Fleet Fish Market.
The Newport Beach Pier is ideal for strolling and features a lifeguard station at its base, several rows of shops and restaurants, several hotels, lots of beach rental houses and bicycle path. The pier overlooks a beautiful sand beach, Newport Municipal Beach.

Thank you so much for this. I used to walk there almost every day when I lived in Orange from 1989-1994. It’s been over 20 years since I visited and walked that beach. I sure appreciated this! I am sad that the old Shell Shop is gone :(

I love Newport Beach and Costa Mesa where I spent my first year of college at OCC. Miss it so much.
I fished the pier back in 84, never caught anything, and spent lots of money on bait :) But it was fun, if not crowded.

having been to Newport Beach 14x during the 80s-much looks mucho familiar to me,even Beach Ball Bar,an institution,is still there,with a few exceptions ! then theres Balboa Peninsula Tour,U should do that as well !

Is this nicer and safer than LA? I’ve seen recent video of LA and it seems so dirty and run down. This seems a lot safer and cleaner.
Yeah thats LA, this is Orange County. I think Orange county is a little bit south of LA, but it's nicer to go to. I recommend Huntington, Newport, and Laguna in OC. those beaches are next to each other. Come in the summer or after covid, its just like the video.

H.B., couple miles north of here, has had it's share of Great Whites cruisin' through, on occasion.
Saw the pictures from a helicopter. Right there, just outside the surf lineup.
HAY this is Newport Beach ...no Sharks in the water....Many Sharks on land

After this pandemic I will never look at beach goers the same again. There are a lot activities I will never see as innocent again. Humanity is terrifying in its callus stupidity and selfishness. Apparently the beach attracts people who clearly don’t care about all the suffering and loss. “Heartless” is the word that comes to mind. These are the kind with harts of stone.
The beach attracts young people with few, if any comorbidities. Young people who are not the highest risk category.
Try to temper your doom & gloom with some facts. Like how the media never reports the actual death rate to infection rate ratio, correctly.
Calm down Karen, the world's not going dark. We prevail... and are, and life continues. This too, shall pass.
I went to the beach with a buddy of mine.We took our dogs,avoided the cafes,bars,stores and kept our masks on.As jmr5707 says,it will pass and as long as you do your bit and use common sense,then the chances of coming into contact are going to be much more minimal.Don't let this consume you.I understand your fears but don't allow them to control you.
