Whoever say Ghanaians don't know how to speak English is just ignorant. Ghana is a country whose people love their own languages and cultures. Majority of the radio stations are in the local languages. We are not a country of sell-outs who believe that the ability to speak the coloniser's language is a sign of intelligence or a badge of honour to use to put Africans who use their own languages down.
Secondly, much is made of our accent by Nigerians and Cameroonians who somehow fail to see that even here in the UK, there are various English accents. Ghanaians English pronunciation is nearer to that of English spoken in London and southern parts of England (the one they prefer to have on the BBC news) while the Nigerian accent is nearer to the English spoken in Manchester and those areas of England.
Ghana has led the way in so many things when it comes to dealings with the European and emancipation, so our pride in speaking our own languages is in line with that. It is like how we pride ourselves in wearing our own traditional dresses and have set Fridays aside for local wear to the office instead of the suit, shirt and tie.
In terms of female in education, if I am not mistaken, female student population in Ghana is higher than that of male. My mother and aunties were all educated in the 1940s and 50s way before independence, so female education is not something new or something not encouraged at all. It is all because, like I have said earlier, Ghanaians take pride in their own languages.
Finally, humility is not timidity. We are humble not timid. We didn't fight the European for our independence and be the first Black Africans to do that by being timid. Our government just stood up against British Airways when they wanted to bully us and won a moral and economic victory for its citizens - the travellers. We didn't do that by being timid. What we won't do is fight among ourselves and disturb our peace. That is not bravery, that is stupidity. And the Ghanaian isn't stupid.

Your obsession for Nigeria is legendary. Even on a video that has nothing to do with Nigeria you had to bring in Nigeria. Yes Nigerians speak more English than Ghanaians. A child picked at random in Nigeria can comfortably express himself or herself in English than a child picked at random in Ghana. You want to claim who speaks Queens English? With your self acclaimed Queens English, today there are more Nigerian words in the Oxford dictionary than Ghanaian words. There are more renowned English language authors from Nigeria than Ghana. Nigeria has won more awards in English Language than Ghana or any other black African. As Nigerians we don't want to be British, we speak our English the Nigerian way, the Americans, Australians, Canadians, South Africans etc all speak English their own way. So remain and be forming British, but still can't make an impact in developing the language. Hold your peace and focus on your Ghana.

@@ekinematics What the fvck is your problem? My obsession with Nigeria? Do you think I care about Nigeria? What has Nigeria or indeed Ghana achieved that I should waste my time championing one over the other?
I brought up the accents in England based on what I have heard from the many Cameroonian and Nigerian UA-camrs I follow. They always claim that Ghanaians pronounce words the wrong way, which is basically stupid because, like I said, different regions in England have different accents.
If folks from Manchester and environs were dominant in Nigeria during the colonial era, which looks like they were, then Nigerians would speak English, pronouncing words like they do now. And if folks from London and environs were the dominant in Ghana during the colonial era, Ghanaians would speak English, pronouncing words like we do now. None is better than the other. Scouser accent, the accent of the people of Liverpool, is also English, but it's different from Cockney, which is also English. None is better than the other.
I can cite you two English Premier League coaches. Sam Allardyce pronounces some words mostly like Nigerians do and Harry Redknapp pronounces words mostly like Ghanaians do. Two Englishmen from different regions.
And who gives a fvck if a kid in Nigerian can express themselves better in English? Who the fvck speaks a foreigner's language in his or her own country? Only an idiot! Do the Chinese speak English in China? It is to the end that the Ghanaian is proud of speaking his own language in his own country. The colonial days are over! The ability to speak English is not a measure of one's intelligence, in case any of them foolish Africans don't know. Learn to speak your language and be proud of speaking your language.
I don't give a fvck about Nigeria in terms of being in competition with them for like I said earlier, what has Nigeria achieved? Nothing, just like Ghana. Nada! Two woefully underachieving countries. So why should I worry myself about them? I am too old for that sh.it! I don't have time for Nigeria, I just took time to address this idiotic narrative being perpetuated by Nigerians and Cameroonians on UA-cam that somehow 1) we pronounce English words wrongly and 2) by preferring to speak our own native normal languages and not that of the colonial oppressor, we are uneducated. Absolutely ludicrous!
      Take your stupidity somewhere. Kwasia!

@@kwameboadukissi426 If you had no obsession for Nigeria you would have focused on the video. The video had nothing to do with Nigeria, but Ghana. Focus on what the video is about. Your paranoia shows how insecure you are.
I repeat you claim you speak a better English yet Nigerians are more known for using English more in their daily lives. As Nigerians we don't want to be British but Nigerians. Do Americans sound like the British? Do Indians sound like the British? Keep deceiving yourself. Ask me since Ghanaians started speaking English whats the impact of Ghana English on the English language compared to Nigeria?
How many words of Ghanaian origin can you find in the Oxford dictionary compared to Nigerian words?
Even here on UA-cam watch videos from Ghana and that from Nigeria, which uses more English language freely? Ghanaians that can't have a conversation for 10 minutes without using twi to drive their point due inability to express themselves in English. The evidence is all over youtube, you cant compare.
I laugh at your ignorance. Even in the UK what are the academic achievements of Ghanaians compared to Nigerians? Nigerians don't speak good English like Ghanaians yet Nigerians are the most educated immigrants from Africa in the UK.
Please keep your British Ghana accent🤣🤣🤣 why we use our Unique Nigerian accent to break grounds.
      Remain pressed!!!

I'm African, a Ghanaian as matter of fact, we believe language is important to us because it's identify who're and it's God given mother tongue, if l wanna use English as my second language, yeah for sake of multicultural purposes, yes l need it,
But most especially as an ashanti, l don't wanna get lost in my own motherland, the ashanties had always insisted and have made ridiculed even within our own people, but it's we're shining on Ghanaians because 80% of Ghanaians now speak twi, l only hot to know the importance of mother tongue when l got to Japan, the Japanese people studies English right from the infancy and don't know how to speak English but yet they're so proud of their language, they'll only manage to speak English whenever it becomes necessary.

I think is some of the alatafo who have been saying we can't speed English but when they speak, full of errors....it's funny though. I remember my sister @Felicity D told me that,Ghanaians can speak English but when they are speaking, they are careful with their tenses because they know when they mix past tense, future tense and present, we will laugh so the take their time when speaking but the alatafo ,they dont care....I even heard some saying "I didn't thought but this some person will say ghanafo nte brofo😂😂😂what I hate about Ghana is the elder one is always right and every outspoken person is known as the one who doesn't respect.

That some people have betrayed, disappointed, murdered,( in other words ) act bad towards their ancestors so these ancestors of those have some sort of pain in them and it then continue to become a generational hate,

Nice video but you are wrong about education. Ghanaians have been going to school for centuries. The literacy rate for Ghana is 78% while that of Nigeria is 53%. The first secondary school, mine and the same for Kofi Annan was established in 1847. There are over 150 universities in Ghana, with hundreds of thousands of foreign students.
Ability to speak English, measured againts whose, English, liberian kru english? We have our local languages in particular Asante twi, which is almost a lingua franca. Naturally we are proud of our language. So why do we speak foreign languages in our own country? Please do your research before you speak on issues like this.

Secondly ,I am a Ghanaian and if you watched the video in full and understood each text in context then you would realise that I made mention of "change" and how people were reluctant to send their girl-child to school or maybe I missed something myself 🙃.
I have no idea what your secondary was but I attended ACHIMOTA SCHOOL, since you brought that up.
I would like to think I gave this a thought before sitting in front of my camera to shoot this video BUT thanks for the explanation and I am sure people will learn from your well meaning comment.
