- Almost a year ago Seiko released their Speedtimer/Seitona chronograph. And it was received with much hype selling out everywhere! But now that the storm has calmed, how good is the watch actually? Was it all hype or truly a well made watch? Let’s find out!

I just recently became a watch nerd through UA-cam reviews and watchmaker repair videos. I have a small wrist and can’t wait to purchase one of these. I was worried it wouldn’t fit my wrist size. Tried one on and I’m in love

I have a small wrist too and this one fits perfectly well 39 mm chrono on bracelet wears different than a 39mm OP style watches…this is what I understood
It's a great watch. It wears so nice, it's no nonsense, the negatives are not a negative for me. It's not chunky like other auto's/manuals.
Lovely wrist presence that has gotten compliments, where others (Rolexes) have not for me. It's not pretentious.

As a watch collector (Seiko, Tissot, Breitling, Tag, Omega) - I just bought this piece and I absolutely love it. It's a perfect everyday watch. It's a bit small, but I still prefer it (lookwise) to the 41 version of the Speedtimer. It's an excellent piece, and fits nicely with my SKX009 and SNA411 Seiko pieces I have.
Full charge lasts more than a 100 days , it’s 6 months
I have the limited edition ice blue dial and I have the same "complaints" with the bracelet, but don't care because the watch just wears so well. It's a really good looking watch that feels great on the wrist. Like you said about yours, mine isn't going anywhere!

Got this for xmas and love it! I’ve been a mechanical watch guy, but when I start to think about it- quartz/solar are 1) cheaper 2) better in terms of keeping the time, which is the whole purpose of the watch and 3) having a collection with mechanical watches is so unpractical (and a bit annoying) because everytime you gonna change watch you need to set time and date and wind it (with quartz you can just grab your preferred watch in the morning). And sometimes mechanical watches may just stop if don’t are very active or just forget winding it. Therefore I mean the functionality of quartz or solar is by far better than mechanical watches. The result was for me that I only used one watch. The others was in a box. Not fun hobby at this point. And for the claim of quartz watches have «no soul», it’s non-sense. I love mechanical, but for those who understand how good quartz movements are made, it is a very facinating process with crystals, vibrations and hertz. Almost spiritual (hehe). And for the solar movements, as is in this Seiko, it is almost the same process as a plant: Making energy of the sun. I actually charge it in my Smart Garden (indoor plant growing) as I live in the Arctic with no sun 3-4 months in the winter. Well generating energy from a source in the universe is more organic, fascinating and soul-like than a springs and gears imo. In fact all souls get energy from light. In medicine, the mechanical worldview is actually associated by a machine-like understanding opposite to soul. So I don’t buy the argument that solar quartz has no soul, but mechanical does. Just some perspectives :)
Thanks for review. I now started to buy quartz. The hobby is cheaper and much more fun. The only thing I miss is the swiping hand, but that’s not a big deal. The tikking is cool too. ❤

@@mad4watches sorry for all the misspellings and poor language. I am not native speaker and I wrote too fast. Hopefully it made sense. Don’t get me wrong, mechanical watches are awsome. Love them. But I think quartz/solar are great too! The Seiko 9F quartz movement holds +- 10 sec a year (usually only 6, but max 10). A year! Less than what an ok mechanical watch holds a day. This accuracy is in itself fascinating. Thanks for a good channel.

The Prospex "X" is a logo. At this price point, it should have a Ti case/bracelet.

Tactical frog vs75 v2 panda. Looks better and much cheaper than this Seiko.
Just purchased this and absolutely love it - l also purchased a Pelagos 39 and got a £200 gift card so used it on the Seiko, so effectively got a discount for 2 great watches 😅
The dimensions and looks is perfect for daily wear. I took the bracelet off right away and threw on an Erika’s Originals Nato which wears great at 39mm x 13.3 x 45mm.

can anyone tell me, can you set the 24 hour dial independent from the rest of the primary hour and minute hands? as a kind of gmt function?
No. Sorry. It is fixed not adjustable and is just a 12/24 hour indicator. Almost useless IMHO.
Anyone know the difference between the SSC813 and SBDL085?
One is a JDM model made in japan other is jp movement but assembled/checked else where. one says movt. Japan other one just says "japan" to indicate the difference.

My AD is an excellent watchmaker and we could not get the bracelet properly sized for my 6 3/4 " wrist. I decided to wear it loose rather than too tight. When setting the time, the entire movement jumps around in the case when pushing in the crown. Poor build quality. The bracelet is ajoke. All things considered, after 1 week, I am already considering getting rid of it.

My only complaint is domed sapphire crystal. Looks like crap at side angle. My 2016 ceramic Daytona doesn't look like crap from side angle
Now that’s a matter of taste isn’t it, a lot of people(including me) enjoy the distortion of a domed chrystal 😊
