If you still experience slowness/lag just change from 60fps to 30fps it did the job for me

Uncle Zedd i have an hp laptop i5 with amd radeon but in streamlabs obs it doesn’t recognize it, it just have in the encoder software (x264) and hardware (qsv)
@@bishooplays5740 update the drivers for graphics card. check AMD website
for people having pink/greenish overlay artifacts or glitch while recording, just go to your advanced settings : File> Settings>Advanced and in Video> Color Format = I420, replace it with NV12.

I can't select Target and Peak Bitrate. It's defaulted to "1" and unchangeable.
i just bought a new rx 5700 and your settings works perfectly for low file size and good quality thansk a lot and in your preference should i use 32 samples or leave it at bileaner

Check actual age of card. Use something like GPU-Z to see it.

You should only use this method if you're recording your desktop. If you're recording a game, you should use the x264 method since AMD doesn't have dedicated chips for encoding.

Will this cause an FPS drop in stream labs obs in game?
Possibly. If it does, look at the x264 method of recording. That one usually is the best.
i have a little problem, i have a pretty good pc and when i recording cs go my game is not that smooth, and when i stop the recording is again very smooth
Sounds like your graphics card is struggling to record and game at the same time. Not necessarily your PC entirely.

That's a fairly decent graphics card. Comparable to a GTX 1060. Maybe you're pushing your graphics too hard in the game as well. The downside to AMD GPU's is that they don't have a dedicated chip for encoding like the NVIDIA cards do. That's why NVIDIA's outperform AMD when recording or streaming .

Make sure your graphics are not on ultra high and that your frame rate is not higher than 60fps.

I have an RX 580 but when I use h264 my obs just crashes! Is there a fix??
Is there a way to set the CQP in ffmpeg mode too?
Mainly because only when choosing ffmpeg you get to also choose the audio codec (in my case .flac) instead of the AAC codec, which can sound very tinny even on 320kbps.

If I have a higher resolution monitor than my source, is it considered downscaling when recording? Example: I have a 4K monitor, but the videos I want to capture are natively 1080. In this situation should I change the output to 1080 and then set the scaling to a higher setting (Lanczos)?

When i record with h264 avc amd my gpu usage go up to 50% and when i start the game same time go up to 90% . Is that problem or its normal?

You're probably better off streaming using x264. You also probably won't be able to record and stream at the same time.

Odd. Your specs should not produce an lag. What were you recording? A game or your desktop?
If you're recording a game, you should use the x264 method since AMD doesn't have dedicated chips for encoding. If you're recording your desktop, you should this method.

I'm running an amd ryzen 3700x and a Radeon rx580 8gb along with 16g RAM.
I've tried recording and encoding with my cpu and gpu and I've played around with the settings, but I still notice while recording OBS is affecting In game performance. Somehow everything feels off. I also notice fps drops in obs when recording. When I stop recording the problem dissapears.

Pretty odd issue. The difference I've noticed with AMD and Nvidia graphics card are that Nvidia has it's own dedicated chip to handle encoding that is completely separate from the gaming chip. This allows you to stream or record without it impacting performance. I'm pretty sure AMD does not have a separate chip which is why when you're recording or streaming, you'll notice a little performance decrease. I recommend using the x264 method to record or stream when using AMD graphics cards as it's less noticeable while you're playing.

What's better HEVC or AVC? ._.
Each has their ups and downs. HEVC is a little less compatible with modern media players and editors and can have artifacts in the video. AVC is a standard but the file size difference is about 30% bigger. It's really up to you. You ca try both and see which one you like more.

Usually that means the encoder is is being overloaded. Try doing the x264 way. That video is in the description. See if that helps

Tried your settings with a 590, but set the preset to balanced. It was pretty good, and the end result was fluid, but I noticed in task manager that it hogs around 80-90% of my GPU when recording. Any idea why and how to reduce this?
