      Thanks! And you have a decent PC. I wouldn't call that low end so I'd keep the same settings I go over in this video but change your encoding speed to FAST or MEDIUM and your bitrate to 2500 or possibly even 3000 if your connection is good.
      Also when you're gaming, make sure to game in 1080p at most and still downscale to 720p in OBS until you become affiliated.

      You should be able to get a decent stream with those specs.
      First thing you want to do is download the latest update to Streamlabs here: streamlabs.com/slobs/d/9015276
      It's designed for gamers who stream
      Once it's updated, follow the video's instructions. Once done, compare your PC specs to this chart I made here: bit.ly/best_settings and make the adjustments accordingly.

      You may have some trouble getting a fluent stream. 1st thing I’d do is try out StreamElements: p.strms.net/scrapd . Im having an issue with every game i try so any help is appreciated. im streaming to twitch from obs. i have an i5 6500 and a gtx 1060 oc edition. in game video settings are pretty much all low. obs is set to 720p 60fps 6000bitrate. hardware encoding with the gpu. in game fps shows im getting 170fps the stream is gorgeous with a solid 60fps never dropping. the issue im having is even though my screen shows im getting 170 fps the gameplay feels choppy and almost like im barley getting 30fps. any help???

    • @ScrapyardFilms
      @ScrapyardFilms  5 років тому +1

      A couple of things I'd change. You have a decent PC and so you shouldn't be experiencing problems at all. One question through. Are you a twitch affiliate? IF NOT, do these settings below.
      1. To start it off, you should be gaming in 1080p in whatever video game you're playing.
      2. You should reduce your frame rate to 60fps in the game and TURN ON v-sync in the game settings.
      3. In OBS, in the VIDEO tab, make sure your Base Canvas Resolution is 1920x1080. Then make sure your Output Scaled Resolution is 1280x720. And finally, make sure your common FPS value is set to 30fps
      4. In the OUTPUT tab, use x264 for the encoder
      5. CHECK 'Rescale Output' and set it to 1280x720
      6. For RATE CONTROL, use ABR
      7. Change your bitrate to 2500
      8. UNCHECK 'Use Custom Buffer Size'
      9. For CPU USAGE PRESET, choose 'FAST'
      10. For PROFILE, choose 'High'
      These would be some really good settings for you if you ARE NOT AFFILIATED with twitch.

    • @ScrapyardFilms
      @ScrapyardFilms  5 років тому +2

      That's going to be very difficult to stream fluently.
      1. You definitely want to play your game in 720p and turn ALL settings to the lowest possible.
      2. In OBS, turn base canvas settings to 720p. Same with rescale output.
      3. Uncheck rescale output in the streaming tab.
      4. Bit rate at 1500-2000
      5. Encoding speed ultrafast
      If those settings still are too much for your PC, you may not be able to stream with it and should probably look into getting a new laptop/desktop. Usually pawn shops have pretty good deals on laptops. a nice 5th gen i7 with at least 8GB of RAM. Either that or save up and build a nice PC.

    I've been searching for a couple of days now and after finding this video, I'd say that you are the ONLY one which explained *EXACTLY* what to do. The others I've watched blab on about total rubbish so much that I think I'm watching an episode of The Simpsons where Bart's teacher is talking to him, if you get me. (blah blah blah)
    I'm running OBS on 2 machines,a desktop and a laptop, but I'm having tons of trouble getting rid of the frames missed due to rendering lag with my desktop, but the laptop is working great with zero lag whatsoever and I've hardly changed any settings.
    My desktop is an ASUS M5A78L-M USB3 MoBo with a 4 x AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor with 32 Gb Ram using onboard GFX (AMD RS780)
    My laptop is a HP 4 X Intel Core i5-7200 CPU @ 2.5Ghz with 8Gb Ram using onboard Intel HD Graphics 620 (Kaby Lake GT2)
    Both running Kubuntu 16.04

    • @ScrapyardFilms
      @ScrapyardFilms  5 років тому

      Well your laptop seems to have better specs than your desktop as the Phenom line is heavily outdated so it makes sense that you're not getting a fluent stream there. A ton of ram is good but streaming requires intense processing power from your CPU chip or a Graphics Card.

      Ok so 5k is a great budget and you can get basically anything you want and have an amazin stream. But if you wanted my honest opinion here's what I'd do.
      I'd build 2 PC's 1 specifically for streaming and 1 for gaming. I built 2 for you online if you are confortable building it yourself.

      @@ScrapyardFilms I'm confident at building my own PC's as the ones I've had, I've built myself as I don't think much to the ones that you could buy from shops as they're basically crap. When you build your own, you're getting exactly what you want.
      I also stopped using Window$ in 2011 when a friend recommended trying Ubuntu. I'm now running Kubuntu 16.04.
      I'll take a look at what you've created. I tend to lean towards ASUS when picking my parts.and try to get a board which can take as much memory as it can, along with a high core CPU.

      Thanks. And yeah it's probably your CPU that's holding you back. The more features you throw in OBS the more CPU it needs. Not to mention your game will start lagging/freezing randomly if your pc's CPU usage reaches 100%. That's a good graphics card though so you might use NVENCH to encode instead and see how that goes. just use a Twitch preset and the performance option and see how that goes.

      Seems your PC may be a little on the old side. Your most likely going to have a hard time streaming and an even HARDER time doing both at the same time. Your best bet is doing 1 of those at a time. and if you're lucky, your stream won't lag bad.

      First I recommend trying out StreamElements here: p.strms.net/scrapd
      It's just like OBS but has awesome streaming features like Streamlabs. Then follow the settings in this video and then you can also match your settings on my streaming chart here: www.scrapyardfilms.com/streaming. That should guide you in the best direction.

    Do you recommend I use the settings in the video or go better/worse?

      I recommend looking at the description and pinned comment for the best updated settings video. I'd probably try out the lower settings first then work your way up until your stream stops looking good.

    My Specs are Ryzen 7 1800X 32gb of ram and a Vega 64 but when I stream it lowers the performance of my games I usually get 300+ frames on games like siege at 1440p but when I stream it lowers my frame rate to 20-30

      Streaming takes a huge toll on performance. If i was you, I'd game in 2k like you are but rescale the video to 1080p on the stream. Also your average viewer will only be able to see 60fps so there's no point in streaming anything higher than that. I'd drop the in-game FPS to 120 and change the streaming FPS to 60.

    Time to keep the trend going. I'm amazed on how you still reply to this day.
    I have a:
    i5-2400 CPU 3.10GHz
    8GB ram
    GT 1030
    1680x1050 60Hz monitor
    What are the recommended settings you can give?

    • @ScrapyardFilms
      @ScrapyardFilms  5 років тому

      Oh man that's gonna be hard to get a good stream on. The age of that hardware may be too old to look good. I really recommend all the low settings in this video and also gaming on low graphics. That's your best bet for sure.
