Great job, Roy. I mean Fred.
haha good one
Matthew
Love this film score. It truly feels "western" and "adventure movie" all in one.
This is one of my favorite film scores. It honors the best traditions of musical film scores and really captures the spirit of the picture.
very underrated film. and a great score.
Basil comes through with another gem (along with Red October and Starship Troopers)
Exactly..
I always thought that Basil Poledouris was an underrated composer. He left his mark on so many great films.
Underrated??? GREATEST OF ALL TIME. Conan the barbarian/destroyer. RoboCop. Quigley down under. ( should of got sequels) Hunt for Red October. And MANY MANY MORE
12:00 is where it’s at for me. Beautiful
One of my top 5 Favorites, Don't ask who my Top 5 are, I'm still sorting it out. Currently Basil comes in at #3 on my list.
@@derbuckeyetribe9789 .
@@robogreek3157 Lonesome Dove is my favorite along with the first Conan. I didn't care for Conan the Destroyer.
Hear that brass, that banjo, that snare drum. Man y'all hearin' ragtime. Which would have started about Quigley's time.
With a little British marching music thrown in for effect........
Im going to get Red Dead Redemption 2, and name my player Matthew Quigley
Just don't call him, "Roy."
I...would legit NOT mess with a character named that in any game.
Wow! Basil Poledouris slapped on a 10 gallon hat, a pair of spurs and took us to the Land Down Under by way of the Wild West?! It's great hear that he was more than just russian submarines, troopers in space, and barbarians. An all around great score that sounds epic, and fun to listen to. Thanks for the upload.
His first western work was the classic Lonesome Dove miniseries in 1989. Check that out if you like this. There are tremendous themes in that. And of course Robocop in 1987, which brought surprising emotional gravitas to the material.
This reminds me of a road trip with my father. We saw Ten Commandments and Quigley down under, his favorite films. Long story short, reminds me of my dad, and what I think he saw as a true inspiration for being a man. To this day, I tear up thinking about my dad who got deported, showed me a love for film, but also miss him very much. We don’t talk much but the fact I can remember him spiritually through this soundtrack truly shows how powerful art/film/music can truly send us back in time to great memories.
Starring Tom Selleck and Alan Rickman “Quigley Down Under” is an enjoyable western but not that typical, as set in Australia. Although having a few silly moments the plot was partly more serious than one would expect from it. Basil Poledouris provided a wonderful score with a really fun main theme for Matthew Quigley, referring to the composition style of Elmer Bernstein. Enjoy!
I've always thought that if Tom Selleck had been born 20 years earlier, he'd have made his name in TV Westerns, not as Thomas Magnum!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Butch and Sundance would have done very well there. And Sundance could have learned to swim... If he wanted to.
One of my favorite westerns (after Silverado), and I so desperately want the soundtrack, but, starting prices begin at $50 & go up from there. Gotta listen here, since I'm too cheap to pay those prices...grr!
@@mr.aldini6801 Nooo swimming!
God damn what an underrated movie and soundtrack
One of my family’s favorite movies and soundtrack. Thanks for posting Soundtrack Fred. 👍🏻🎼🎶🤠
What a wonderful piece of majestic music. It shares a similar sound as theme song with Yul Burner in The Magnificent Seven
Obwohl die goldene Epoche der Western Filme weit entfernt vergangen ist, klingt diese fein komponierte Filmmusik noch völlig schön und auch bezaubernd.
Great film .great score .you've done it again Fred thank you very much .
Thanks Mr Basil you create one of the greatest music for westerns movies
Your music is excellent
And I personally think you are equally as good as Ennio Morricone
Both of you enjoy your stay in heaven
RIP
I was looking for an actual Symphony playing this theme . Great Movie , great score .
Really I like western music very very much thanks my best friend Soundtrak Fred have a nice day
This score and Lonesome Dove soundtrack are my two favorite listens when I'm wanting that "western" feel. Poledouris is awesome!
Hey Fred, Quigley Down Under has to be one your best assembled suites I have heard. I say this because I was the Editor and 2nd Unit director on QDU and worked closely with Basil Poledouris, who created a western classic score. I temp scored the movie with pieces from 2 of his previous soundtracks - Lonesome Dove - Farewell to the King - and one track from Elmer Bernstein's Amazing Grace & Chuck [inspiration for the moment Quigley learns from the Aborigines]. Basil was impressed with how well they played in a different movie because they conveyed the spirit I wanted and man, he took these cues and reinvented them, taking them far beyond by injecting new life into one.
Hello Adrian, nice to meet you!
That's a nice insight you gave from making the movie. The connection from QDU and some Bernstein-esque materials and colors are undeniable, in a positive sense, of course. Always enjoyed Poledouris music.
All the best!
Fred
You too Fred... keep doing what you're doing - WE ALL APPRECIATE YOUR WORK... I know what it's like to compile these type of musical montages that play so easily, effortlessly - Adrian
Hello Adrian,
thank you very much!
If you have any request I will see what I can do!
Fred
Wow - thx Fred - let me put on my thinking cap.
@@SoundtrackFred Okay Fred... a tough one for you... Lalo Schifrin's score for "Charley Varrick" - I read once that there was to be an album released but now might be only a couple of tracks on a compilation album. Love it if you can locate it. Best regards...Adrian
I like the sound track to Quigley down under. The lullaby is extra special. Now I would like to find the violin sheet music to it.
Catchy tunes. Now I really have to see the movie! Thanks!
Yes you do.😉
You really have to see the movie! (Did you, yet?)
You won't regret it

Even Netflix's have joined the Quigley fan club.
Great film and Tom was magnificent
I love this channel. Thank you!!!!!!!
Hello Profe, thank you very much!
This channel loves you, too, of course! ;-)
Amazing music
One of the most underrated and short-lived composers who ever lived. Basil's scores for Quigley Down Under, White Fang, and Lonesome Dove are some of my greatest influences as a composer. Do can hear some of his influence on my compositions on my page!
He wrote some GREAT soundtracks...including Conan the Barbarian.
Robocop was the greatest hero theme EVER MADE
And Chariots of Fire.
a great score to accompany a fantastic movie , ok its not set in the west But its still one of the best westerns ever made..
OH! I love the music in this movie! I would not have known that the music was by Basil Poledouris, the same guy who did the theme from _Robocop_ which I also enjoy hearing. Sometimes I skip to the end of _Robocop_ just to hear the music.
Best movie ever made
@@robogreek3157 - Which? Robocop? Remains one of my all time favorites!
@@robertgantry2118 YUP best hero theme of all time as well Quigley was an amazing score too
@@robogreek3157 - I liked Quigley Down Under. I'm a Tom Selleck fan. Movie was loaded with propaganda though.
A WONDERFUL SOUNDTRACK TO A GREAT MOVIE!!! BOTH, TERRIBLY UNDER RATED!!! THIS SOUND TRACK WAS NEVER RELEASED IN THE U.S., ONLY IN AUSTRALIA!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT IDIOT MADE THAT DETERMINATION, BUT THEY MADE A HUGE MISTAKE!!! THANK YOU FOR GETTING IT POSTED N UA-cam!!!
Awesome \,,/😆..
Just finished the movie and I thought it was great
Best part is at 1:00
Elmer Bernstein - The Magnificent Seven
"Matthew Quigley!"
the main title sounds like its in every western movie. or am I wrong? cause its awesome and triggers something in the back of my head that I heard it before in a movie or show.
It’s that good! The Stabbing, that starts at 2:56 is great too.
IKR? and shades of Elmer Bernstein's theme from The Magnificent Seven run deep.
John Wayne would have loved Quigley Down Under.
It's a great western movie in Australia..
Very big actor movie Tom Selleck and your girlfriend
@ 11:34 they cut short my favorite score i bet they do to all of them.
I think this is my favorite of Poledouris's scores (not excepting Conan). Some of the motifs are what I call "horseback music"--listen to them and you can almost feel a pony under you.
Try the soundtrack for "Lonesome Dove."
I need that rifle
Darn it folks ain't her got it yet dog gone!
One of my favorite westerns ever! I actually just did a remix of one of the songs from this soundtrack! Its on my channel
My name ain't Fred its mathew quigley

I used part of this great soundtrack for a Red Dead Redemption 2 tribute video here: ua-cam.com/video/1S9LsS071yQ/v-deo.html
Oh, an era when movie scores had a tune.. And nowadays it's tuneless garbage
