I became a pilot because that was as close to flying a viper as I could get. This is truly incredible! You realize you're going to have to build the Cylon ship next right?
Thanks for watching! I can certainly understand how you were motivated to become a pilot - good on you for achieving your goals! I was never a huge fan of the Cylon ships, but I did like the Buck Roger's Starfighter a lot...😉
I grew up watching Battlestar Galactica. My Kindergarten Teacher broke my heart when she told me i could no longer where the replica outfit my mom made me to school every day anymore, and that I could not sign my work papers as 'Boxey'. At home I had a cardboard box from a refrigerator that I cut a cockpit out of and put appliances from my house into to pretend they were gauges. I flew so many adventure in that Viper. I still dream about it sometimes many decades later. I still love Battlestar Galactica just as much today, but my imagination cannot take me on adventures like my 6 year old mind could do. I swear if I could build what you have in my yard, I would sit in it and stare up at the stars in the black night sky and be able to fly adventures with Blue Squadron once again. I envy you, and am so amazed and proud of what you have built. You are making a dream into reality. Thank you for doing this build and sharing it.
Don't know why this randomly popped up into my feed, but I am so glad it did! I know the old viper is not anywhere near the current year relevance, but she is a beauty! Your hardwork, dedication, and attention to detail on this project is nothing short of awe inspiring and mind blowing.
I've seen other Viper projects but none that use actual aerospace build techniques - they're usually plywood and fibreglass affiars. It's as near as dammit an actual airframe you've built and it's the most impressive thing i've seen in a while. This build deserves more videos and you deserve more subscribers.
@@fubkenste1n wow! that is high praise indeed! I'd love nothing more than for the Viper to be displayed at an aviation museum - even if it is a fictional aircraft. She'd look nice sitting next to a Harrier 😎😎
Just come across this 3 months later and I'm amazed, the level of expertise and dedication is just brilliant. Always loved Battlestar Galactica especially the Vipers. Looking forward to seeing your progress later in the year.
I knew a kid in Rome, Ga, in 1977, that built the bridge from Star Trek in his basement. This is something he would do too. Skill is one thing, but the dedication to stick to it is on another level.
Some folks ask the question, “what if we built this?” and then think nothing more. You thought “why not build it for real?” and this labour of love is the answer. Fantastic work - I hope you really enjoy the end result!
one of my all-time faves growing up and then to see the remake with Olmos was the best time to be alive lol. man what a series and to see it finished made me sad. I wish they could have made more. btw i worked in sheetmetal for years and i can feel those cuts with every pic hahaha
Awesome project and execution. Props for going that extra distance and making the frame from aluminium, instead of wood. I've always love that spacecraft, something so plausible/realistic about how it looks...
Everyone has thought of building an X-wing, Millenium Falcon, Knight Rider, General Lee… but nobody thinks to makes one of these. Too funny (and awesome). Thanks for sharing the video.
I’ve been keeping an eye on this….just outstanding work. It’s so nice to see the interior matched up to the exterior. Congratulations and can’t wait to see it complete!

Watching this is like watching a reconstruction of a WW2 Aircraft. Serious kudos to you for the time, effort, money and skill you have put into this. It is probably better built than the original stage prop used on the set of the original movie and tv series.
I think it's great to build a life-size mock up and take it to events. And explain how mockups are built for television and movies to educate people on what you can do with you.Put your mind to it and you have a vision.I think it's great
Omg, I just found this Chanel. I'm so excited. The most beautiful fighter ever. I was crushed when Battlestar Galactica was over. I was young. Oh, the memories. Cylons still scare me...
Battlestar Galactica! This was my youth! The first kiss with a girl, the first beer and all the first this we did! Wonderful time! This Viper is absolutely amazing! 👍😎🇦🇹
Awesome job, keep it up! Big BSG fan, still watch my Cylon boxed DVD set. Your metalworking skills remind me of fabing on a supermodified racecar back in the 80's. Looking forward to the updates! Thanks for sharing 👍
Somebody needs to build a flying version of this beauty. Even though the CG issues would be tough to overcome, there must be an engine type possible. Just stunning.
Very impressive. I knew Richard Hatch for a short time before he passed and he would've LOVED this so much. Can't wait to see it finished. A Cylon ship is next? :)
Beautiful job! It brings a smile to my face. The first time I saw the Colonial Viper on Battlestar Galactica back in '78, I fell in love with the design along with the Cylon Raider! 👍🏼🇨🇦 The ship designs back then seemed more believable as real space ferrying vehicles. It also helped that that the designers were brought over from Lucas Film, along with there leftover concept sketches! I can't wait to see completed build and paint scheme!😊
Super awesome and so cool to see something from my childhood take shape in real life! Please keep up the great work and hope to see it at a Con one day.
The Galactica would be proud to have your Viper as part of her Air Wing. Thanks for all your time and effort. The Cylons need to be very worried now. “So Say We All”. JR.

O M G!, I didn't know this was a thing! The Viper is the best looking ship in all scifi, I often dreamed of making one out of just plywood, It would not have looked like this, You did an absolutely incredible job.
I almost declared war on the white house when the original broadcast of Battle Star program was interupted by Jimmy Carter and his middle east peace talk fiction show came on in the middle of the showing. Glad to see someone still remembers this. Nice job. Now build one that really flys and it would be worth waiting for.

It was different to Star Wars and rightly so, but the connection between Han Solo and Lieutenant Starbuck… well every space opera needs that loveable rogue. Thanks again. Just incredible!

Great video. I really enjoyed the riveting narration. My mind is blown. The project's scope and your craftsmanship and ingenuity are incredible. Bravo! Thank you!
My other favorite sci-fi fighter was the Buck Rogers star fighter it just looked so sleek! Love that you are using a monocoque structure.
I agree, the Buck Rogers star fighter is a gorgeous design!
Make an X wing. Star wars
Which was a rejected concept design for a Viper that was recycled for Buck Rogers.
The fact the bulkheads have lightning holes says something about the seriousness of this project. That and the size of the thing. Audacious! Love it!!
