The chassis. Blanked off data jack. FT818 replacement due. I think you may have spotted a connection between the two. Do you think an FT819 is on the cards soon?
I suspect that the chassis is also used in the RF stages of the DR-2X repeater, and that’s where the data port would be used. As for an FT818 replacement. I sure hope we will see something soon, maybe at the big Tokyo ham fair in September?
The chassis is the same as FTM200 & FTM300 and on those the data port is used for Firmware updates . Not used on 500 as firmware for this model is done with the SD card.
Me too. And wideband receive! Why can my FT-3D receive anything from 522 KHz upwards but none of Yaesu's expensive mobiles can receive anything below high-VHF?
Great vid Johnathan looking forward to the next ones thanks for making 👍
Interesting that yours came with a different power connector. Mine came with the traditional T-connector. US vs UK/EU perhaps?
Maybe? All of Yaesu’s mobile radios have that flat two pin connector over here, and have done so for years!

I wish they'd put in memory banks like the FT-5D.
Maybe I missed something, but I think Yaesu did.

The best thing about the 500 is I know all I need is a 300 for lots less money
