  • Learn how to kill a fish quickly using the ikejime method (it’s also the most humane way possible). Full guide at: castandspear.com/how-to-ikejime/
Ikejime isn’t only humane but creates the best tasting meat by removing the nerve signals after the fish has died. This will also keep the fish fresher for longer.
If you spend the time and money to catch fish to bring home to share with your family, it’s worth learning the technique that the chefs recommend their fish be processed with.

Tips for next time, do the brain spike then the bleed out. Since the heart is still pumping, the fish cleans it all out themselves. After that, do the nerve clean to stop the process as per usual. You'll end up with a much better fish that lasts longer in the fridge.

DANG, those Sheepshead out in Cali look so awesome! Not to mention, looking SOOO MUCH TASTIER than the "sheepshead" here in Florida (diff. family of fish, but😏). I'd really like to try that Ike Jime tool on one here someday though. Specifically, because FL sheepshead don't taste too great, unless they're cooked within a few hours of being caught. People say to bleed 'em and soak 'em in milk...buuut tbh 👎 LOL, definitely snaggin' one of those tools soon! Thanks man 👍
