Next time scanning yourself, try standing on some sort of turntable motorized that can handle your weight. The lower leg area would come out cleaner due to no movement.

In actual fact if there was a set of say 3, one as is, one with a mug of coffee and one standing waving at someone on the train that would be even better.

What a blast if you have a town on your layout it definitely needs a home , so I'd place you in the town. If I could scan myself I would place me in my layout town on a pedestal like a famous person or the founder of the town. Really enjoyable needed a good distraction from reality. Years ago I visited a company just outside Baltimore, MD who does 3D scanning of items from small items to buildings. They had scanned Ray Lewis when he played for the Ravens and had a life-sized 3D print of him.

I did get to try out one of the Ferret scanners for a day but didn't get very good results. This one seems better.

Reminds me of The Big Bang theory show, when Bernadette finds out that Howard and Raj spent money on a 3-D printer. And made mini copies of themselves. She was not a happy camper with Howard.
You've got to print 100 of them and create an army!😂. Cool video as always.
I think you need to do a new scan of you, something with a coffee cup in your hand, then putting you into the model would make great sense, you drinking a cup of joe while watching the trains go by somehow is very fitting.
After scanning the G scale engine it should get printed and see how well the details transferred.
The ultimate test would be to scan a real box car or other rolling stock and then print that on HO and N to see how the details come out.

Would very much love to get an N scale representation of Jimmy on my layout, a while back DJ of Djs Trains came out and made available to his Patrons something similar. that would be kinda cool to have a collection of all those have have contributed to the building of my layout represented as a way of showing honor and saying thanks!

As for placement…. Look long and hard at your layout. Wherever you would railfan if it were real….. that’s where you should put yourself!!!!!! Also- make an HO scale, print it, and put it on your Etsy. My dads layout needs a jimmy! You do t even have to take it off of the supports, I’ll do it! (Half of the 3d prints I’ve bought don’t come primed and ready like yours did)

You should scan the n scale you and print it life sized. Thats a true test of accuracy 😝

Hey Jimmy, Tim Edge here just saw your video clip with the N scale FRED. Was wondering how they made that. If it was a Evans Designs product or was it scratch built? Been trying to come up with one you could swap from car to car on my layout.
Would such scanning of a person or of an object be possible from flat photographs taken from various angles?
