    Full color 3D printing has existed for many years. I have had prints done by companies with full color printers for not nearly as expensive as you would expect considering how expensive the machine is.

      Haha, yeah, I couldn't have made this one without her and she was very patient with me.

    A great bit of kit, especially for a club to own like you said, Rob. Plus, seeing you prancing about at the end goes to show you've got a comical side of humour about yourself, lol.

      I had a lot of fun messing about with Mixamo. I also used a thing called Nvidia Omniverse Audio2Face to rig up a scan of my head that would talk and pull expressions, but it looked really creepy, so left that out.

    Very interesting. Amazing how far technology has come, and where it's going.
    Made me think of when my parents used to make me stand against the edge of a door, so they could mark my height once a year: parents in the future, will just 3D scan their offspring to chart their growth!

      What a good (and slightly odd idea)! You could morph them together to see how they grew up.

    Thank you for your honest review. I've recently purchased a RevoPoint Pop3 and experiencing similar issues. ( The comment about the "Angry Wife" while scanning was awesome! :) )

    Hello and thank you for this most interesting video. Did you or any of this community viewers try photogrammetry? Or iPhone Lidar (requires iPhone 11 or higher I believe). A comparative would be interesting. While out of the recommendations for this scanner, will you try to scan an OO or H0 gauge freight car (making it mat by spraying it before)? What about a real life simple freight car which are always mat with the natural weathering? A water tower or some simple brick work or fences would also be an interesting test. I would avoid automobiles as they are probably too shiny...

    Very fair review i would think, with it being a new technology it’s going to be expensive and need polishing etc, but like you said, ModelU gets you one scan for £50 so it isn’t that bad a value, i suppose as well you could even offer locally a cheaper version to people if they want themselves scanned, or a certain car etc, so there is the possibility of making money out of it too

    Interesting stuff, Rob - I know some people will whinge about it being a paid promotion but I think you did a decent job of balancing that by putting the unit through its paces. Now, if you could just get access to the cab of a L&Y Pug...😉😁

    • @LittleWicketRailway
      @LittleWicketRailway  5 місяців тому

      Thanks. I know, paid promotions aren't ideal, but they let me demonstrate things I either couldn't afford or wouldn't think to try. I aim to be transparent and give fair reviews. Turns out I don't have an affiliate link, I just got confused and it's just a normal link, so no commission on this one 😂 The video was meant to be out in December, but I didn't feel like I'd had enough time with, so held off to get more practice. 3D scanning is a skill, like using a camera and taking good photos, just slightly more frustrating because a scan either tends to be good or unusable. A good scan of a L&Y pug cab would be incredible!

    I have always thought that the current ready-to-run models of a GWR auto coach lack interior cab detailing especially at O gauge so that would be a good one to scan.

    • @LittleWicketRailway
      @LittleWicketRailway  5 місяців тому

      That's a really good idea! I think the scanner would do a good job of scanning the controls if they weren't too shiny and there was space to get round them.

    Can you scan locomotives and rolling stock that you have?

    • @LittleWicketRailway
      @LittleWicketRailway  5 місяців тому

      I think the oo gauge stuff would be too small and detailed for it. It might handle the G gauge stuff ok. Could try a wagon.

    I did see some App done the rounds a while back for scanning, but i`ve yet to master the basic yet, along with anyrail

    Great video, scanners have come a long way in the last few years, without paying thousands, the sub 1K ones were rubbish, but this one looks fairly decent for the money. I suspect the Maximo figure is a better dancer than you are!

    SO once you get a scan that i like i just hit the down arrow icon that must be the export , but do i need to rename it xxx.stl to down load ? it just sits there and says 0% , i have s3d and cura to slice and print on my fdm printer. I got it you have to change from color mode to original or it will not export as an stl file
