This team is way over rated, they have way to much money tied up in 4 players, They dont have enough grit, Star players dont win Cups, Grinders and team defense does.... Ovechkin didnt get a cup till he bought in to the team....

At least the end of this season and next. I think Keefe is the real deal. He isn’t an old man who is stuck in his ways; he’s someone who encourages instead of threatens. You can tell this team didn’t want to play for Babcock anymore. It was time for him to go
@@averytatavitto9333 I agree with your statement except for the timeline. I think if they continue the way they are right now; Dubas' seat will starting getting uncomfortably warm in January. Dubas still has work to do, he needs to figure out a trade to free up some space for a couple of defense men who can play defense and a backup goaltender.

Sheldon keefe is younger, has been with the marlies, knows a lot of the players very well. He has a good chance. Learn business , a person is paid what they are worth. The top 4 paid on the team earned their pay with and when not with the leafs. It is in the stats. It is inflation, just wait, a guy with Nypanders skill set, will eventually make 10 million, wheres a matthews guy will make 14 and up. Inflation. With all the young, talented expiring contracts, they had no business adding tavares.

I have to say I agree with sid’s last point. What’s being overlooked here is not realizing when a good coach with a good team has likely just hit their ceiling. Babcock should have been fired after last season. Why? The same reason the raptors fired Dwane Casey after coming off a franchise-best regular season yet flunking in the playoffs at a similar stage. Once players develop to their relative caliber, it becomes a matter of player management. Sure, some of these players are overpaid, but that’s not to say their talent has been utilized optimally. Clearly under Babcock, his philosophy began to conflict with setting a system that could guide this team to reach their potential output. So Sid’s right. Babs should have been gone after last years playoffs
Don't know about anybody else but I have no confidence in Dufoos to get anything for Barrie or anyone else he tries to trade. As long as he is still around this can only get worse.

Name three player's the were able to embrace for the Toronto Maple Leafs the way the expectations was required? Darryl Settler, Matt Sunden, Wendel Clark. Throw in Boris Salming and Dave Keon. That's all you need to know. They didn't need other players around them to make them great.
Dubas is the real problem. The leaf's roster is not balanced and too forward talent focused.

There are at least half a dozen guys with NHL experience and NHL success who are available. Darryl Sutter, Dave Quinn and Dan Bylsma to name a few. Leafs are expecting the new guy to make a playoff run with this team. Despite having no NHL experience. They are asking nearly the impossible.

I really don't see how this is going to solve anything. The Leafs have some great young talent which i thought they would use as bait to trade for players to fill in the missing pieces. So were going with a new coach and were waiting for the NHL to change. This team hasn't looked the same with Marner out of the lineup. I think the Leafs made a mistake and are using Babcock as an excuse.

Somewhere tonight under the light of the November moon a sated Commodore swaggers, staggers, and swoons.
All you got to do is look at what happened before our goals against.
Way too many passes to directly to the other team;
Way too many times not paying attention to the opponent's positions;
Way too games our defense not checking and making things happen;
Way too games our offensive players was wasted because of dumball plays.
Last night, two bad penalties that lead to goals.
Barrie gave the puck away like he was being paid to, Cece the other night
gave the puck away like he was being paid to, basically every goal against
this season was because of the players mistakes and that's not a system thing,
no system says, "Giveaways are good, penalties against are good, ignoring the
opposition's players and puck watching is good, running back and forth like a
chicken with it's head off is good, now go get'em boys!"
I hope they didn't make a mistake here. This team his been in the building stages for so many years and it's starting to show now after so many years.

ABOUT TIME! Babcock did not put defense first, did not worry about tough play. He under utilized Connor Brown, and Matt Martin among other players who had a physical presence. Our goalies have been run at, our defense does not know how to play defense first at all, nor do our forwards. Sure we can score at times, but when we cough it up on a regular basis that is not a recipe for success. I hope Doofus starts getting us better defenders. I still think Hunter would have been a better GM. Barrie is not a good defender, nor are others on the blue line, hopefully the new coach will get more out of them...

As a Sens fan, I wholeheartedly wish the Leafs come back around. That way, our Battle of Ontario would be legendary.

The leafs cap situation and roster structure has reared its ugly head. They aren't tough enough and defence isn't there and we can't bring anyone in. Going to be tough to resign more of our existing guys when their contracts come up.

I thought the Leafs were building a winner sorting out who would be traded for the final pieces.
