- Tata Altroz Racer is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cyl, turbo-petrol engine making 118bhp and 170Nm, which is which is 8bhp and 30Nm more than the regular Altroz hatchback. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and gets 16-inch wheels. The Altroz Racer's design remains unchanged but gets dual-tone paint with racing stripes on the roof and bonnet. At the interiors, you get a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital cluster, an air purifier, wireless charging and front ventilated seats. The Altroz Racer also gets 6 airbags and ESP as standard. The pricing starts at ₹9.49 (ex-showroom) and in this drive review, we find out if the Tata Altroz Racer delivers the thrill of driving and whether it is the one for the enthusiasts.

This car is a disappointment. They should have gone for stiffer suspension considering the audience for this car are enthusiasts. Don't understand how they plan to compete with N Line being 2 seconds slower! This car is slower than many cars in the affordable range which don't even claim to be a warm hatch, which is terribly disappointing. The person in charge of this could have at least gone for something better in the budget range for tires instead of ECO tires. Also for people who enjoy driving for whom this car is designed for, will not enjoy the notchy gearbox. A pretty crucial miss for manual fans.

I feel sports cars should be rear wheel drives, would be a nice feeling to get that rear sliding in corners.
Tata should really launch that Tammo Racemo sports cars, I think it would be great for their image.

No excuse to skimp on the tires. Sportier tires should at least be an option.
It cannot beat the n line , for sure , tata engines are known for vibration , and this segment leader was polo, after that only Hyundai have managed to get the i 20 n line , even maruti have flopped , Baleno RS was a super flop and even the fronx also. Now it is the i 20 n line is the king
That 999cc of hyundai has a lot of lag lower down, driven it many times especially in hillies, it lacks the torque lower down because of tiny stroke.
Also check out zigwheels video on handling test of i20 nline vs altriz iturbo. Proves that power and acceleration is not everything in a hot hatch! It needs to handle, have the feel at the steering.
Who said fronx is a flop? It has clocked 1.34L sales figures in a year... Which is the second best selling figure for Maruti in the nexa line-up... After the tie-up with toyota, they have improved the weights and structural rigidity as well... Altroz is a good looking car, it may not beat the i20 n line in a straight line... But when it comes to handling and driving dynamics, it will outshine i20... Each has its own plus and minus, no one wants to build a car which gets easily defeated in the market...
If sales number is the identification of hit or flop....I20 nline is also a flop car .... performance hatchback always sells in less number bcoz targeted audience group is too small..

The torque of Gdi comes at 1500rpm only while the Laggy Nexon Revetron in Racer comes at 1750rpm. You have driven Iturbo not Racer so stop making assumptions. The whole world knows nexon has the worse low end lagg in segment 🤣

Tata will never really completely satisfy customers with providing all options at launch. There is always something missing, they took 1 yr to get the iturbo, then another year for dca but with the 1.2 NA only, now another year to launch the Racer but with just the manual. So frustrating.

it wont be able to still beat polo,i20 or fronx1.0 in terms of performance beit reliability,acceleration, nvh and performance. since they have launched a powerful engine hope it doesnt go to service center again and again
