@@charlesevans7706 By the way: I do love the cheek of some people, re: Sand; at a guess, I'd say it was based on white, and is maybe a variant of buff titanium. But I wouldn't have the brass neck to ask! I've yet to try it, but I could have done with it in a painting I'm working on right now - it's screaming for an opaque light - but all I've got is white. And I can't mix "sand" from anything on my palette - so good luck to your inquirer with that one....

Thanks Charles. Gradually learning to make different colours from a limited palette without them all turning muddy. Need a lot more practice.

For those to lazy to buy or make their own color sand, tell them it’s in your pocketbook. By the way I love it when you’re sassy! That’s how we do it here in Louisiana!

I spent my evening practicing rocks, trees, and bushes. I found a tip for anyone with smaller hands.. cut the credit card down a bit so you can hold it properly. Makes a ton of difference.. suddenly it worked. The 1 inch I cut off of it does fun things too, it's a lot more flexible.

Charles I need help. Mine is a hot mess. I think it's my brushes... they all have extremely fine tips for details. Do I need something more blunt for the trees to get that dabbing effect that you do?

@@charlesevans7706 OK, I will see what I can do. I can't get the Aquafine brushes here, but I have some Princeton velvetouch that have the more rounded shape. Thanks.

@@charlesevans7706 I got it.. the velvet touch multimedia brush does the job. Figures after all the money I had spent my brushes were too good lolol. I had to go back to the cheap stuff.

@@waymire01 I read your comment with interest. I've just started and all my bushes and trees look like something a 5 yr old would do. All colours mixing together. Cant get it right. Anyway my round number 8 produces spear like dabs rather than the round ones Charles does! It's a zieler make. What brush did you get and did it make 'round dib and dabs'? It's probably technique but the pointy bit almost seems to be too long and gets in the way.

@@xxrobodave It's a multimedia brush vs a watercolor brush. Make sure it's a standard round and look at images of brands you can get in your area, they are way more blunt than the sharp point typically desired for watercolor. The one I had was a Princeton Velvetouch. I've also got a ProArte Masterstroke that is that rounded shape. The blending is also very touchy depending on your water balance and paper used I've found. Practice on a scrap of the paper you want to paint on (or the back of the paper) for a while first. There is a fine line between a bunch of dots.. a soft blend... and a blob of mush. Definitely a learned skill. I finally got the trees looking good but the arched and tapered bridge is my nemesis, I can't get it drawn properly to save my life.. I had to give up on this one since I can't get a decent screenshot to use as a guide.
