I am so impressed by your technique Charlie. Painting in oils has been my hobby since retiring. Now I living in a retirement home with some time on my hands I decided to try watercolours and made an absolute mess. Then I found your UA-cam site and it made things so much easier to get it right.. Just got to get them in the right place now. Thank you for your help. Brian Clarke

The sound of that pencil on the canvas, is not irritating at all. Not to me at least. I quite like it in fact. Why you use such a small stubby bit of pencil is intriguing, while there are so many posh pencils out there? As someone who simply cannot draw at all, I love to see a pencil drawing emerge just by scratching about on paper as you seem to do. I enjoy watching you paint and tell me why you make certain marks and telling me what you see. When you do that, I think ‘oh yeah, I can see that too’ ha ha! Thank you Charles. I’m a subber!

you remind me of a dear friend Arthur, back when we draughtmen used pencils and tee squares, lots of people, me included would buy fancy adjustable tee squares, technical propelling pencils etc., Arthur used an ancient, warped tee square and a stub of any old pencil, and his drawings were the best out of all of us. As you are demonstrating, its not what youve got, its how you use it!

I don't know what happened to the other comment that suggested Ken Bromley... but they had a great chart that was really helpful and explained why I can order a whole box of pads/blocks, paint, brushes, etc for $15 shipping and three full sheets was like $55. Apparently the cut off is 15x18 inches, anything over that gets surcharged.
