  • Wagyu Beef in Japan is the juiciest, most delicious steak you may ever eat, but how? What's the secret? How does Japan grade each wagyu? What's the standard for A5 beef? How do the cattle live?
To find the answers, Dean Newcombe and I rent a car and drive from Tokyo to neighboring Ibaraki prefecture to visit a Wagyu Farm, the Hitachi Beef processing plant where they grade the beef and a top Wagyu restaurant on the base of Mt Tsukuba with views all the way to Mt Fuji.
We'll eat premium cuts of A5

A couple of notes: 1) no, I don’t show any animals being killed. The advisory is just for a meat locker where you see the meat on hooks. 2) Driving scene. The GoPro flipped the screen. Sorry to confuse the public. 3) For everyone who doesn’t eat meat or beef, the title has beef in it 😂 you don’t have to watch and make yourself upset. You know what you’re getting with this video - BEEF. YUM. FARM. STORY.
    4) Yes, we slightly burned 3 pieces of meat. We ate it. The advisory should have been a burning beef scene, knowing who’d be watching 🥩

He doesn’t get attached, I think it’s just something people can get used to, but he was so kind to them, brushing them, talking to them. They looked so happy but they wouldn’t exist without the need for Wagyu. It’s his livelihood but the way he cares for them makes me feel better about eating it and I def eat less of it, partly because it’s $$$ but always because I know the taste came from a happy life (until that day at the end of course).

The reason that the US doesn't show how the food is treated is because how little they care for the animal and how they pack them in as tightly as possible to get the largest yield. Most of the large production companies of our meat they treat the animals with disrespect out of profits.

It sounds heartless to say that these animals are raised as food and not pets, however that is the reality.
The good thing about knowing where your meat comes from (a living animal) is that it makes you appreciate your meal more. It seems counterintuitive, but knowing how they lived, died, processed (portion cuts), and cooked, gives you the understanding that what you consume is of value, and that you shouldn't mindlessly consume it, and may likely prompt you to eat less of it, or to perhaps abstain from consuming meat again.
In my case, I grew up knowing about the process of how I get to eat chicken and pork on the table. Hence I try to eat less of it whenever I have other options available (certain fruits and vegetables where I live can be very expensive to buy). Whatever choice you make is all up to you. It does not make you a bad person for eating meat, but knowing where your meat comes from puts you in a better mindset of appreciation, and not be part of the mindless consumers who devour without thought.

It's not heartless of humans - it's Nature that is heartless.
The Strong dominate the Weak - as it should be. Nature makes no apologies for giving the victory of Life to the Strong - it's just how it is. Humans that try to justify that humans should stop eating meat are in fact more evil than proud meat eaters like myself. I do not think myself greater than God by defying Nature's law that the Strong eat and dominate over the weak. This law also applies to human society - the hardworking get rich while the weak and lazy get poor. Same principle. Nature rules over all - weaklings have no place dictating their stupid feelings for dumb animals over the birthright of humans to eat animals.

SuperKnowledgeSponge, sorry to burst your bubble, hon, but what we do as consuming humans is nothing natural. Before the level of consumerism we have now, each family killed their own food. Now, we’re just doing it excessively to meet a demand where the meat goes bad in supermarkets cause they’re not bought in time and you have to supply more for those who didn’t buy it when it was fresh. For a Super Knowledge Sponge... absorb that. And yes, I am a meat eater, but I can recognize when the system is unbalanced and not sustainable. Something you still have to absorb. And please, don’t even try to justify your way of thinking cause you already showed you don’t have the capacity to understand how all of this works.

I really appreciate in this video that you did address the fact that many people in the world, especially well developed countries like the US just see the meat in a supermarket all packaged up and have no reverence to the idea that there was once a live cow, live chicken, etc that it came from.

As different in taste and quality as store-bought tomatoes versus home-grown tomatoes. You do find out that ranching is hard work and dedication, too.

This is what vegans often overlook. The act of eating meat can be separate from the cruelty of American (I'm American btw) factory farming. Proper care, humane treatment and a painless and instant death is better for the animal and makes for better meat for the consumer.
Compare these cows to the wild animals who often freeze and starve, must fight for survival non-stop and die painfully from starvation, lack of water, disease, injury and predation. Which one has the better life?

For those who are now wanting to try a5 wagyu here is a suggestion. First, go to Japan where the prices are fairly cheaper (obviously explained in the video), 2. there are all you can eat a5 wagyu in some places in japan watch (strictly dumpling) he knows one of the places, and third eat in moderation! The price is overall expensive, and if you haven't had olive wagyu yet oh my god y'all need to try it! Trust me you don't need to eat a lot of a5 wagyu it's recommended to eat a small portion of it since it's way too oily, but at the same time mouth gasm to the core.

Only poorly educated people would „forget“ to do so and as children we would get a little smack to the back of our head to remind us! But although times have changed (alas!) I am still offended by people sitting at a table with hat or even bean-bag on their head. For Japanese it must be a horrible disrespect to them and the food! And if you‘re balding, so what!
