Thanks for your comment. Thing with under eye filler is that you can still get puffiness that happens years later, even if it looks perfect for years and you had no issues. It’s just an area we have to take a little more risk with. I still feel that it was worth if for me though because my troughs caused shadows and was moderately deep.
This video is *chef's Kiss* to this issue. I remember as a young girl getting plenty of sleep and people thinking I was sleep deprived. No amount of color corrector/concealer combo can help me so I am ready to see a doctor about this. I hate being perfectly healthy and well rested to still have these dark tear troughs.
Great video!!! I had my eye bags removed but it didnt resolve my problem completely until i researched and realised i had tear trough deficiency as well. Had filler done and i am super super happy now. No more eye bags no more dark circles no more looking tired no more being conscious when i smile laugh or take photos. Thank God for science.

I tried this twice and it only lasted about 18 months. It wasn't worth it because I had terrible swelling afterward and to this day I get pillows under my eyes when allergy season hits. It looks so bad and it seems like there is some leftover product that migrated below the tear trough. I still have dark hollows under my eyes. The swelling caused wrinkles and understand its a maintenance thing. How much filler are you going to keep piling up under your eye? Its not going to continue to get good results and there are a lot of risks. Think twice before messing with what your face looks like.
They could have placed the wrong type of product in your tear troughs. My doctor only uses Belotero in that area because it’s a thin filler that doesn’t swell. I’ve had it done with excellent results.
I’m glad you made this comparison video! I have just tear troughs, but I felt I wasn’t a candidate because I mostly see people with tear troughs/eye bags getting this done. I truly believed this was only for people with eye bags.
So glad you found the video helpful! There are a lot of people who have the concavity right underneath their eye bags that get this treatment done but you can get this treatment done if you have the concavity, or tear trough without eye bags.
I have watched lots of videos and this explains it well. Why don't dermatologists ever say some people can go blind from this? I am glad that is rare but still. I have mild throughs and if you are watching this maybe filer is the thing for you I am working on face yoga first, koko face yoga from Japan, talks and shows how to work on this issue, France is getting into it too. Both ways I'm sure. My family member had their lips filled with restiline and it looked awful because European type perpotions are not Angela jolie.
I don’t explain all of the possible complications and side effects from filler in my videos because there are so many other things to cover. If you go in for an actual treatment, most providers will let, or should let you know all of the possible risks associated with filler. Blindness is rare and it’s a bit more common to go blind from getting filler to the nose or glabella area rather than from the tear troughs.

Would be happy to see you. No when filler goes away it will not leave loose skin and no it should not create eye bags. Eye bags are hereditary. Filler will not correct the eye bags and eye bags continue to herniate more with time. Yes in general African skin does not show signs of aging as fast as other ancestries (I’ll be discussing this in my next video). Yes it’s ok to do fillers to the tear troughs in ppl of African ancestry. Yes Sculptra is ok too but not in the under eye area.

I was actually contemplating some ancestry/geographical differences that I notice with ppl of North African, Middle-Eastern, and Mediterranean ancestry seem to have more hollowness under their eyes. This is what I’ve noticed in my experience in just observing faces.

@@duchessdelarue5983 I like regular Restylane for the under eyes. I usually start with 1 syringe for both under-eyes, with around 1/2mL to each under-eye. Sometimes if someone is more hollow I will put a little more of the 1mL syringe to that under-eye. I never do more than 1 syringe to the tear troughs in one visit. I will have the patient return in 2 or 3 weeks and if we need to add a touch more (usually 0.2mL-0.3mL) then we can. I usually start on the side that has more hollowing to ensure we get as much correction as we need and not run out of product.
@@duchessdelarue5983 Yes the same product can be used to fill the cheek also, and if I have product left over I am happy to add a little to the cheek area and have done so for patients if they need it. I sometimes add some to that lid-cheek junction area that I spoke about in the video. As far as adding Restylane to the marionette area, it’s not my favorite product. It’s very stiff and I prefer to use other products to that area like Restylane Refyne, Defyne, Restylane Kysse, Versa, Volbella, or Vollure. However, if someone needs just a touch to their marionette lines and we have a little Restylane left over then I can use it. For a full correction to the marionette lines or perioral area, Restylane is not my favorite.

I should probably come out with a video to explain how to find a good injector. I would check out their before and afters and make sure they have done a lot of tear troughs. The title doesn’t matter so much as their experience and approach with injections.

Thank you for this great video. I will get this done in a few days and under no circumstances will I let them fill my cheeks. I see it all the time with some injectors, they try to cash in on your visit because tear trough only needs 0.5-1ml total and so they convince you the trough needs 'support' from below (??) so they add 2ml per side (!). That makes zero sense. First of all, your contents of undereye tissue aren't hanging like clothes hung out to dry. And second, if they aren't overfilling the trough then why the need for support? And doesn't that cheek then need a support of its own, in the buccal area? Hah. Crazy. I wish I lived close I'd definitely come and have it done by you.
At one of the conferences I attended this facial plastic surgeon who also does a lot of anatomy courses stated that each tear trough should not get more then 0.5mL on each side. So 1mL total (0.5mL on each side, right and left) because the anatomical space cannot support any more than that. Sometimes people’s cheeks do need to get treated also to give the tissue to the mid face support. Actually when I was filming this video, I found a model who had deep tear troughs and treated her but the before and after was not the best because she also really needed her mid face area done as well. So I used these 2 other models in this video instead because they only really needed their troughs done and were a better example of tear trough injections alone. The key is to find an injector that you can trust who you won’t advise a treatment that you don’t need. Also make sure they look natural. I just attended a cosmetic conference this weekend in LA and as usual, there were so many over filled faces to the area of the tear troughs and cheeks, kinda cat like 🐱.

Yes, trust is important but the more you know (as a patient) the more you try to vet the doctors beforehand regardless of their reputation and photos. Some use needle to the bone approach directly in the trough, some use very superficial approach with the least dense filler, and some like You know what they're doing and why. So without knowing which technique my dr would use I can't trust him. And as a patient I shouldn't have to know so much about the procedure... it's a complicated situation when it comes to fillers :(
Basically, your lid/cheek junction is natural. Most people’s skin to their lower eyelid will be thinner than their upper cheek skin (People of East-Asian ancestry usually have thicker skin to their lower eyelid because of more fat so this junction is not as apparent on them.). I only treat someone has a concavity to their tear trough. I have patients sometimes ask me to do filler to this area because they want their lower eyelid area to be 100% perfect looking and I tell them that tear trough filler is not for that. That’s just my opinion.
I lost a lot of volume in my underlids because of minoxidil treatment (yes, its a thing). What did you use for your tear troughs? Because I am amazed that it can last several years. I would love to do the same.
To avoid filler migration and eye bags after filler is it correct to only inject the filler beneath the tear through? Would love to come to you but I am from Germany and just want to make sure I find the right injector with the correct technique.
Had my sculptra maintenance appointment yesterday afternoon. My doctor did tear trough filler for me, too. I'm a bit nervous as I'm very swollen puffy right now under my eyes. He told me it takes 2 weeks to settle. I'm hoping it doesn't take 2 weeks for swelling to come down even just a bit? Keep hearing horror stories! It said I could lightly gently massage outward. I'm not sure! Afraid of migration? Of course, I'm massaging my sculptra areas.

Looks like it's getting better every day, so I'm hoping it continues to improve. I mentioned it to my Dr. He told me to lightly massage it and that I could lightly press into any small bump. He will be doing my dysport in a few weeks, so he will see what's going on. Hoping it's all good by then. 😊

I recommend filler but I also have only tried platelet rich fibrin under my eyes one time. I don’t think it lasted that long. I think filler lasts longer but again, I don’t have a lot of experience with PRF. Some people do both.
I have tear throughs and want to do my lips. I want everything to look as natural as possible afterwards. Would you suggest to use 1 syringe for all areas? So for each tear through 0.25ml and the other 0.5ml for the lips? And then maybe enhance the results a few months later with another syringe splitted?
The video was super informative. I'd like to ask about my case tho. I have slight tear through but it doesn't really bother me, it does when I smile, the skin right under the eyes gets super wrinkly with several lines going towards the cheeks and then creating the hollow space right under it. I think it must be genetics because I always had some bent lines coming from the eyes but they became much more prominent when I lost weight and so face fat. I'm 32 and considering doing this treatment but I don't know if that would be right for my case. I'm not sure fillers would actually help in not forming the lines under the eyes when I smile or else will make them more prominent as it'd be more "full" and then it'd make it stick out.

What are the risk? Just look at Gavin Chan’s he discovered that tear through filler can last for 12 years and it moved under the eyeball. I really wanted to get tear through filler I already had some but wanted more and now I’m just scared.
I love his channel. If you had tear trough filler with no issues then I would make certain that when you go in for another treatment that you really need it and that there is actual volume loss, or tear trough present. A lot of times patients get used to their tear trough filler and they think they need more and they still have correction. Even after I tell people that they still have correction from their tear trough filler people don’t seem to comprehend. What they seem bothered by is their lower eyelid/cheek junction and even after I explain that it will not take away their lower/eyelid cheek junction they still desire more. Tear trough filler can last for years so I would just make sure that their is a trough to correct should you desire more.

No not under the eyes. Not many people do. I would suggest finding someone who is very experienced in this area and getting NO MORE than 1 syringe done to both eyes as the anatomy in this area cannot support a lot of filler.
With age, I think these undereye areas sometimes sink in somewhat! My ancestors really aged well but I look like my paternal grandfather and have sunken circles under my eyes! Except for this and somewhat deeper nasolabial fold lines, I really have no wrinkles whatsoever and am almost 68! I was thinking about getting them filled in with Restylane or Sculptra, but recently am hearing some horror stories of patients going blind in one eye or the other due to injections!

@@ezgibayram4841 I have not heard of and injectable and topical treatment to remove eye bags. Injectables don’t remove eye bags only surgery would. There are topicals and I believe one is called plexiderm that helps to decrease eyebags but this only works temporarily.

They may say to wait a few weeks before returning to using a gua sha and RF device to the under eye area, but it may be ok to keep using them to other areas of your face. Glad you enjoy the videos! No I have NEVER filled my lips with filler I only do a lip flip with Botox and this does not add volume to them but works on the muscle to evert the cupids bow. I do wear a lip tint though and it can make my lips “pop” sometimes. Depending on what device the videos are watched on, they can look darker and possibly overpower my look because of the color being darker, depending on which device someone is watching the videos on. I have noticed this when I watch my videos on a TV screen. I’m not the best with makeup lol. Lip tint is something I always wear but I don’t like to wear other makeup.

I prefer filler to this area because the results are so long lasting. I tried PRF to my under eyes and I didn’t see much difference but I also have results from the last time I did filler to my under eyes which was from back in 2015!

Hi Sandra. Most of the time I use Restylane but other hyaluronic acid fillers can also be used. I would say Restylane is probably the most popular here in the US, at least on the west coast (to be used to the under eyes). I would ask whoever would be injecting your under eyes what they prefer.
At 29 in certain lights I notice this! I absolutely hate it . I have no other ageing signs other than this and my acne scarring. Would like an option that’s more permanent
Tear trough filler is very long lasting. I have done my under eyes 2 times in my life and the last time I did it was in 2015 so it’s been 7 years and from what it looks like now, it looks like it should last another several years. Lots of things don’t last forever, even facelifts have an expiration date so that shouldn’t let it deter you if you think you’re a good candidate.

Filling tear troughs is very risky . It may look good right after the procedure , but long-term results are terrible - puffiness , and transformation the rest of the fillers to connective tissue.
Funny you say that. I’ve head people say they have had issues with nodules and Allergan’s vycross technology. Thing is they are getting FDA approval for using Volbella to the undereyes and that’s vycross technology just like Vollure. I just treated my first patient with Volbella to her under eyes this week.

Thank you! Which restalyne product do you like best there? I have both bags and hollowness and one side is worse than the other. Do you usually start with one half of a syringe per side or one full syringe per side? I want to get this treatment done! Can the same product used under the eyes be used to fill a little on the cheek and marionette lines too?
@@duchessdelarue5983 I like regular Restylane for the under eyes. I usually start with 1 syringe for both under-eyes, with around 1/2mL to each under-eye. Sometimes if someone is more hollow I will put a little more of the 1mL syringe to that under-eye. I never do more than 1 syringe to the tear troughs in one visit. I will have the patient return in 2 or 3 weeks and if we need to add a touch more (usually 0.2mL-0.3mL) then we can. I usually start on the side that has more hollowing to ensure we get as much correction as we need and not run out of product.
@@duchessdelarue5983 Yes the same product can be used to fill the cheek also, and if I have product left over I am happy to add a little to the cheek area and have done so for patients if they need it. I sometimes add some to that lid-cheek junction area that I spoke about in the video. As far as adding Restylane to the marionette area, it’s not my favorite product. It’s very stiff and I prefer to use other products to that area like Restylane Refyne, Defyne, Restylane Kysse, Versa, Volbella, or Vollure. However, if someone needs just a touch to their marionette lines and we have a little Restylane left over then I can use it. For a full correction to the marionette lines or perioral area, Restylane is not my favorite.
This is such good informative video. I wish I was close to LA to have the procedure done by you. I'm going to start looking for an injector. What do I need to look for? Is a plastic surgeon office better or a dermatologist office? Or are there independent NP injectors? Please tell me what you recommend. Thank you!
I should probably come out with a video to explain how to find a good injector. I would check out their before and afters and make sure they have done a lot of tear troughs. The title doesn’t matter so much as their experience and approach with injections.

Thank you for this great video. I will get this done in a few days and under no circumstances will I let them fill my cheeks. I see it all the time with some injectors, they try to cash in on your visit because tear trough only needs 0.5-1ml total and so they convince you the trough needs 'support' from below (??) so they add 2ml per side (!). That makes zero sense. First of all, your contents of undereye tissue aren't hanging like clothes hung out to dry. And second, if they aren't overfilling the trough then why the need for support? And doesn't that cheek then need a support of its own, in the buccal area? Hah. Crazy.

At one of the conferences I attended this facial plastic surgeon who also does a lot of anatomy courses stated that each tear trough should not get more then 0.5mL on each side. So 1mL total (0.5mL on each side, right and left) because the anatomical space cannot support any more than that. Sometimes people’s cheeks do need to get treated also to give the tissue to the mid face support. Actually when I was filming this video, I found a model who had deep tear troughs and treated her but the before and after was not the best because she also really needed her mid face area done as well. So I used these 2 other models in this video instead because they only really needed their troughs done and were a better example of tear trough injections alone.
The key is to find an injector that you can trust who you won’t advise a treatment that you don’t need. Also make sure they look natural. I just attended a cosmetic conference this weekend in LA and as usual, there were so many over filled faces to the area of the tear troughs and cheeks, kinda cat like 🐱.

Yes, trust is important but the more you know (as a patient) the more you try to vet the doctors beforehand regardless of their reputation and photos. Some use needle to the bone approach directly in the trough, some use very superficial approach with the least dense filler, and some like You know what they're doing and why. So without knowing which technique my dr would use I can't trust him. And as a patient I shouldn't have to know so much about the procedure... it's a complicated situation when it comes to fillers :(

great video! how do you treat lid/cheek junction? my lower eye lid skin is much darker and rougher than my cheek skin
Basically, your lid/cheek junction is natural. Most people’s skin to their lower eyelid will be thinner than their upper cheek skin (People of East-Asian ancestry usually have thicker skin to their lower eyelid because of more fat so this junction is not as apparent on them.). I only treat someone has a concavity to their tear trough. I have patients sometimes ask me to do filler to this area because they want their lower eyelid area to be 100% perfect looking and I tell them that tear trough filler is not for that. That’s just my opinion.
I lost a lot of volume in my underlids because of minoxidil treatment (yes, its a thing). What did you use for your tear troughs? Because I am amazed that it can last several years. I would love to do the same.

Had my sculptra maintenance appointment yesterday afternoon. My doctor did tear trough filler for me, too. I'm a bit nervous as I'm very swollen puffy right now under my eyes. He told me it takes 2 weeks to settle. I'm hoping it doesn't take 2 weeks for swelling to come down even just a bit? Keep hearing horror stories! It said I could lightly gently massage outward. I'm not sure! Afraid of migration?

The tear trough filler definitely looks better than it did, but it's still a bit of a puff under my right eye. Looks like I have a small bag under that eye. Looks like it's getting better every day, so I'm hoping it continues to improve. I mentioned it to my Dr. He told me to lightly massage it and that I could lightly press into any small bump. He will be doing my dysport in a few weeks, so he will see what's going on. Hoping it's all good by then. 😊

I recommend filler but I also have only tried platelet rich fibrin under my eyes one time. I don’t think it lasted that long. I think filler lasts longer but again, I don’t have a lot of experience with PRF. Some people do both.

I have tear throughs and want to do my lips. I want everything to look as natural as possible afterwards. Would you suggest to use 1 syringe for all areas? So for each tear through 0.25ml and the other 0.5ml for the lips? And then maybe enhance the results a few months later with another syringe splitted?
The video was super informative. I'd like to ask about my case tho. I have slight tear through but it doesn't really bother me, it does when I smile, the skin right under the eyes gets super wrinkly with several lines going towards the cheeks and then creating the hollow space right under it. I think it must be genetics because I always had some bent lines coming from the eyes but they became much more prominent when I lost weight and so face fat. I'm 32 and considering doing this treatment but I don't know if that would be right for my case. I'm not sure fillers would actually help in not forming the lines under the eyes when I smile or else will make them more prominent as it'd be more "full" and then it'd make it stick out.

What are the risk? Just look at Gavin Chan’s he discovered that tear through filler can last for 12 years and it moved under the eyeball. I really wanted to get tear through filler I already had some but wanted more and now I’m just scared.
I love his channel. If you had tear trough filler with no issues then I would make certain that when you go in for another treatment that you really need it and that there is actual volume loss, or tear trough present. A lot of times patients get used to their tear trough filler and they think they need more and they still have correction. Even after I tell people that they still have correction from their tear trough filler people don’t seem to comprehend. What they seem bothered by is their lower eyelid/cheek junction and even after I explain that it will not take away their lower/eyelid cheek junction they still desire more. Tear trough filler can last for years so I would just make sure that their is a trough to correct should you desire more.

No not under the eyes. Not many people do. I would suggest finding someone who is very experienced in this area and getting NO MORE than 1 syringe done to both eyes as the anatomy in this area cannot support a lot of filler.
With age, I think these undereye areas sometimes sink in somewhat! My ancestors really aged well but I look like my paternal grandfather and have sunken circles under my eyes! Except for this and somewhat deeper nasolabial fold lines, I really have no wrinkles whatsoever and am almost 68! I was thinking about getting them filled in with Restylane or Sculptra, but recently am hearing some horror stories of patients going blind in one eye or the other due to injections!

Yes it’s different for everyone but usually no more than 1/2 a cc or ml on each side. So 1 cc or 1mL total.

I’ve not heard of threads being used here. I think filler is the better option.

Blepharoplasty? I have heard that they can reposition the fat and place it where there is a concavity. My channel focuses more on injectables

@@ezgibayram4841 I have not heard of and injectable and topical treatment to remove eye bags. Injectables don’t remove eye bags only surgery would. There are topicals and I believe one is called plexiderm that helps to decrease eyebags but this only works temporarily.

I would ask who ever is treating you what they advise about the timing of using a gua sha and RF device to the undereye area after filler. They may say to wait a few weeks before returning to using a gua sha and RF device to the under eye area, but it may be ok to keep using them to other areas of your face. It may be ok to use them to your under eye area a few weeks after getting filler.

Glad you enjoy the videos! No I have NEVER filled my lips with filler I only do a lip flip with Botox and this does not add volume to them but works on the muscle to evert the cupids bow. I do wear a lip tint though and it can make my lips “pop” sometimes. Depending on what device the videos are watched on, they can look darker and possibly overpower my look because of the color being darker, depending on which device someone is watching the videos on. I have noticed this when I watch my videos on a TV screen. I’m not the best with makeup lol. Lip tint is something I always wear but I don’t like to wear other makeup.

I prefer filler to this area because the results are so long lasting. I tried PRF to my under eyes and I didn’t see much difference but I also have results from the last time I did filler to my under eyes which was from back in 2015!

Hi Sandra. Most of the time I use Restylane but other hyaluronic acid fillers can also be used. I would say Restylane is probably the most popular here in the US, at least on the west coast (to be used to the under eyes). I would ask whoever would be injecting your under eyes what they prefer.

Tear trough filler is very long lasting. I have done my under eyes 2 times in my life and the last time I did it was in 2015 so it’s been 7 years and from what it looks like now, it looks like it should last another several years. Lots of things don’t last forever, even facelifts have an expiration date so that shouldn’t let it deter you if you think you’re a good candidate.

It’s possible but very rare. If it happens it’s usually localized to one spot and not often visible.

No because retinol works on the surface level improving the skin texture. Tear troughs are a depression or hollow

Filling tear troughs is very risky . It may look good right after the procedure , but long-term results are terrible - puffiness , and transformation the rest of the fillers to connective tissue.

Funny you say that. I’ve head people say they have had issues with nodules and Allergan’s vycross technology. Thing is they are getting FDA approval for using Volbella to the undereyes and that’s vycross technology just like Vollure. I just treated my first patient with Volbella to her under eyes this week.
