  • Birthday gift from my wife. New edition to the family, 22" Weber Performer charcoal grill. Unboxing, assembly, review and first break-in fire.
    Weber Performer 22” birthday gift from my wife. Unboxing, assembling, a quick review and the first fire to break in the grill.
    We show the unboxing and assembly of the Weber Performer 22” grill with folding side table.
    Assembly went well for almost everything except the ash bucket attaching to the bottom of the grill. We understood how it would go together, but we needed to use a block of wood and a hammer to get it into place. Also needed to form the shape where the ash bucket attached. Everything else went pretty well for picture instructions.
    I am looking forward to our first cook which will be tomahawk ribeye, they are about 2lbs each.
    My first impression of the grill is how nice everything is built. I went with the small cart and side table because I thought it was the best value for what I was looking for. It will be on my patio and the small table was all I needed, since it is near other options if I need more counter surface.
    I also purchased the Slow and Sear 2.0, the drip and griddle pan along with the easy spin grate. We will be using this in future cooks.
    Stay tuned for more cooks on this new grill.

      Thanks! Yes, this was a nice grill and did a great job. Zero complaints, but I did give this to my son in law and replaced it with the SNS Kettle. A little smaller footprint since my grill collection is growing! LOL Appreciate you watching! Cheers!

    Hey there! Thank you for your videos! I bought mine and with a second set of hands and the tutorial from BILT its almost done. Currently stuck on the bottom screw that Holds the lid on the side of the grill. How did you manage to tighten that one?

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching and appreciate the question. Unfortunately I do not have this grill anymore, but I don’t remember having any issues with tightening that piece. If I remember correctly, it was tightened from the inside? But not totally sure. Sorry, I don’t have a better answer for you! Good luck! Cheers!

    I bought one just a week ago on April 25th, it's a weber performer ll. I put it together following the assembly guide. All went well until I got to the ash catcher ring. The tabs on the ring didn't align with the holes on the kettle at all. After squeezing it together alittle I got the ring to fit, but then because it was squeezed now the ash catcher doesn't fit. What a mess, so now I have a new grill with a metal bucket underneath it to catch the ashes. I called webber and I sent them some pictures with a detailed explanation of what happened, I really don't expect them to help me because I put it together myself, and if I order a new ash catcher, is it going to be out of alignment also? My advice, if ya buy a weber buy one already assembled because it's your only chance to not end up like me. I am thoroughly bummed!

      I hate hearing the stories when the grill does not go right! Hopefully Weber will step up and make this right for you! I do remember that step being a little difficult. I don’t like how the ash can works on the Weber. I gave this grill to my son in law and replaced it with the SNS Kettle! Good luck to you! Cheers!

    So I have just the one touch kettle, did you consider the deluxe with gas assist? Just wondered if you considered it and why you chose the other version. I also have the sns and wondered if it’d even work with the gas assist properly. I just use the chimney now, but really want a dedicated side table.

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  5 років тому +2

      Katz Steel, I did consider the deluxe kettle, but I compared how I was going to use this. I decided on this model because it had a small side table and the table folds up for more compact storage on my porch. I also only got the smaller side table, since I have table space on my patio. The gas assist is not something I needed, since I already have a Kamado Joe Big Joe and the fire starters work great. I also got the chimney for starting the charcoal. Not sure on how the gas assist lights compared to the placement of the SNS. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions?

    Awesome video. Do you still have this unit?
    How sturdy is it on that cart?

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  2 роки тому +1

      I actually replaced this grill with the SNS Kettle and gave this grill to my Son in law. It was a very solid unit and nothing wrong with it. For me the SNS was a smaller footprint and had the modifications I wanted in a kettle. The cart was very sturdy! Appreciate you watching and please let me know if you have any other questions? Cheers!

    Hey! We finally invested in the Weber kettle. Any tips on cleaning? We’ve made a right mess in the kitchen trying to clean the grates!

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  Рік тому +2

      Congrats! I have actually initially cleaned grates in the dishwasher before using for the first time. But once I use them, I only clean them with a good brush of your choice once the kettle is up to temp before your next cook. You could also do this after your cook if you let the kettle get hot to burn off the residue and brush off! Cheers!

    • @piezoman79
      @piezoman79 9 місяців тому

      I agree with beers, once the initial manufacturing grease/oils is cleaned off, I never wash my stainless grates on my charcoal or gas grills, just brush them off once they’re hot and you’re good to go.
      Washing them and removing all that seasoning just makes your food stick to your grates all over again.
      Also, I use the term ‘brush’ generically but I recommend the spiral or wound wire brushes rather than bristle brushes.

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  7 місяців тому

      Thanks for the follow up! And agree with recommending the brush type! Cheers!

    How do you assemble the bigger wheels?

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  3 роки тому +1

      I actually gave this grill to my son-in-law, but if I remember correctly. The axil went through the wheel and you hammer a one way cap on the axil and then cover with the plastic cover. There might have been a spacer between the frame and the wheel. Hope that helps! Cheers!

    Way too fast to follow assembly. You should just call it and ad for the grill.

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  3 роки тому

      This is pretty much follow the instructions on how it goes together. We didn’t want to show a video that was an hour long watching me tighten screws. It was pretty basic and didn’t feel we had to go into great detail. If you have an specific questions, I would gladly try to answer them. I have actually replaced this grill with the SNS kettle, but I did give this to my son in law. Cheers!

    You didn’t explain the assemble clearly. It went so fast.

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  5 років тому

      Bok Choi Toc Wah, Assembly was not too bad. We had a little trouble getting the legs into the grill, needed to use force for that. Other then that, it did not take too long. Having a second person helps, but you could probably do this by yourself. Thanks for commenting!

    Unboxing is lacking. Why do I care? Because I am moving and I am trying to figure out how to pack everything inside the box. THIS DID NOT HELP. If your title has "unboxing" in it then show the whole unboxing.

      ChrisJCrash Thanks for commenting! Sorry we did not meet you standard of Unboxing! We did our best to show what we thought was important.
