i think it’s so sweet luke was willing to forget it ever happened... like he had just poured his heart out to her the previous night but was willing to forget about it and continue just being friends just so he wouldn’t lose her.
He was just so relieved that she felt the same way. I think he was starting to have doubts about finally making his move. Thus his comment 'i hope so' to Sookie when she said it was a good thing. They didn't have time to talk the night before, what with dealing with Kirk and then Lorelai kinda blew him off in the morning when he was leaving. His demeanor when he was walking out the door was a little confused and unsure. He really wasn't sure where he stood. Thank goodness for the phone call!

i love the GG touch that they both have chaos going on and have to find a place to get away (esp luke pulling some abnormally long, old-skool phone cord all that way).. and it is so well-acted by both~ they are both kinda shy but also happy and relieved the other feels the same about the kiss... I love it. I came looking for it intentionally today, hoping it was here online somewhere- I was watching some luke/lorelai compilations and clips, and there is always other moments of the build up to them getting together but not often this call-- to me it should not be left out!!
yeah he def was. that is why he says "lorelai relax, I'm fine if you just want to forget it ever happened"... even though we all know with all the planning around the dates and 'courting' of her etc, he doesn't feel that way AT ALL
@@belllabean i get that she was distracted by the whole Rory thing when she got back to the Dragonfly, and Kirk’s issue didn’t help, but it’s like she entirely forgot that they’d just kissed. That seemed unrealistic and a bit of a flaw in an otherwise really great couple of episodes (ie. Season 4, episode 22 and Season 5, episode 1)

So they were like “dammit screw off can you just leave” so maybe a combination of the two! Didnt like jason, and didnt want him getting in the way of luke and lorelai haha.
