He feels like he took his shot and it wasn’t going to amount to anything, even when he kisses her. And then for her to actively initiate a kiss is such a clear indication that she’s there and she’s in it and it’s not just him
You can see too after he kisses her and she starts to pull back to figure out how she's feeling, he steps back and just waits, until she kisses him, and then he reciprocates
Luke is such a good and loyal friend, running after Kirk, even though he's having possibly the most anticipated moment of his life, because he made him a promise

When he says he let his actions speak he’s telling her how he communicates. He may not always say I love you but he goes above and beyond when helping her out. For her birthday he doesn’t get her a present because he hates having to get gifts for people so instead he offers her 5 hours of his free services. He may not be very good at using his words but he shows how he feels through his actions and if Lorelei would have realized that I think their relationship might have went better starting out.

It really pays off that moment of clarity he had previously where he imagined who he wanted to be with and realized it was Lorelei. So, more than all the “moments” or flirtation, or looks in the past he really decided to put himself out there and be more straightforward with his actions.
Luke saying he had to listen to Jason "spout on and on" about Lorelai and him being together when that part of the convo was like 10 seconds is just so funny. 😂 He's so upset
Don't like Jason but him going there and having that conversation with luke made the perfect way to get Luke and Lorelai together. This episode was relly brilliant 🤩❤️❤️

I don't think a TV couple first kiss will ever top this. It's so perfect. So in character, it's funny, and romantic and perfectly lead up to. Matched the tone and style of the show totally. We may not be satisfied with the progression of the relationship, but they totally nailed the lead up and execution of this part. I actually season 5 a lot, but season 6 they really started clowning up the place with some of the writing. The season 5 L/L breakup was just so beautifully done, and LG just sold the shit out of how broken hearted she was. The dream sequence was a wonderful piece of TV. Sherman-Palladino and I have some beef(well one sided on my part lol) with some of her choices, but she really could produce wonderful TV when she had a mind to. I love this episode so much.
I low-key *hated* Jason here. He was oblivious and ignorant of Lorelai's anger and reasons to break up. He just tElLs luke that he's dating Lorelai. B***h move

Not really related, but im gonna go on a ridiculous tangent in my head about how jess is to rory how luke is to lorelai. I prefer to look at it the second way. Just seems more realistic and human.

I get that he was lashing out but that line clearly communicates 1) I only invested because I love you 2) you owe me for that and 3) if this thing between us doesn't work out (and if I were a much worse guy than we all know that Luke is) I could just withdraw my investment. Which is sooo not an okay thing to imply while you're trying to start a relationship with someone. Not trying to rain on the parade. I can still love love love the scene and have a problem with that line
I agree, that rubbed me the wrong way upon rewatch. But I also remember on their first official date where he tells her he's all in. He is invested in her and their relationship. He invested in the Inn because he believes in her and won't let her fail. We also never heard about the money again. Did Lorelai ever pay back the loan?
i always thought he meant it as a pride thing, that Lorelai and Jason were making him feel stupid in the very Inn he invested in, since he clearly only invested in the inn for Lorelai's sake.

They never met each other, Luke was in the diner, and later on Lorelai and Jason were in the car, and they kept talking about coffee and “Duke”, Jason realised that Luke ran the diner and her was the one he was honking at so they didn’t go in. They never actually met each other until then
