From Wikipedia:
The Francis Scott Key Bridge, also known originally as the Outer Harbor Crossing (until renamed for FSK in 1977) or simply as the Key Bridge or Beltway Bridge, is a steel arch-shaped continuous through truss bridge spanning the lower Patapsco River and outer Baltimore Harbor / Port in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The main span of 1,200 feet (366 m) is the third longest span of any continuous truss in the world.[3] It is also the longest bridge in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
The bridge was opened in March 1977 and is named for the author of the American national anthem, the poem originally called "The Defence of Fort McHenry" written in September 1814 and later set to music and entitled the "Star Spangled Banner" by Frederick and Georgetown lawyer /amateur poet Francis Scott Key (1779-1843). The bridge is the outermost of three toll crossings of Baltimore's Harbor (two tunnels and one bridge). Upon completion, the bridge structure and its approaches became the final links in Interstate 695 (the "Baltimore Beltway"), completing a two decades long project. Despite the I-695 signage, the bridge is officially considered part of the state highway system and designated Maryland Route 695.
The bridge is 8,636 feet (2,632 m) long and carries an estimated 11.5 million vehicles annually. It is a designated hazardous materials truck route, as HAZMATs are prohibited in the Baltimore Harbor and Fort McHenry tunnels.
The Key Bridge is a toll facility operated by the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA). The toll rate for cars as of July 1, 2013 is $4.00. The bridge is also part of the E-ZPass system, and includes two dedicated E-ZPass lanes in its toll plaza in both the northbound and southbound directions. In April 2019, MDTA announced that the bridge will become a cashless toll facility by October 2019. With this system, customers without E-ZPass pay using video tolling.[6] Cashless tolling began on the bridge on October 30, 2019.

Final Destination 5 movie ?
You now have one incredible document of history.
this video is now the only way we'll ever be able to experience crossing this again
It'll be years before the bridge can ever be fully rebuilt again.
I usually took the Harbor tunnel when travelling from NJ to Frederick MD but decided to take this bridge one time and glad I did
@@r.a.6459 That is true. Normally when they replace a bridge, they build the new one parallel to the old one while it is still standing and in use. In this case there isn't even plans for a rebuild, and that can take months, as they won't just be putting up the exact same type of bridge. They will build a new one to today's standards.
Plus, they first have to clear out the debris from the old one, just to get the shipping traffic moving through the port.
Hello I write from Italy, condolences to the victims
I’m from New York and I can’t tell you how many times I passed over that bridge going to visit my folks in Glen Burnie. Holy cow. Devastating.
They said 6 passed away 😢
Damn. That's some historical footage. Don't think that there is a lot of full rides across the Key Bridge like you took. Rest in peace to those missing. Great Video. 🇺🇸
at 1:40 am EST on 3/26/2024 this bridge has officially collapsed. a cargo ship struck a beam and the whole thing came tumbling down. i am praying for everyone who lost their lives during this tragedy. you’re a part of history now mike. rest in piece key bridge and the lives lost.❤
Honestly the whole thing should have never collapsed so easy as if where a deck of cards

Tobacco Down Prayers Up to Those Workers & All Impacted by this Bridge Collapse and that Boat 🙏🏾😔
@@randomrazrthere should have at least been dolphins and/or fenders to TRY to prevent that.

Rest in peace to those who lost their lives on this bridge tonight. 🙏
Used this bridge to cross over to my Grammys houses when I was little when she lived in Baltimore. What a insane thing to wake up to seeing on the news that she’s gone.
It's great that this video exists in light of this morning's news.
I last drove over this bridge nearly 5 years ago, I still cannot believe what has happened. My thoughts and prayers are with you Baltimore.
If there is a blessing its that this didn't happen during peak hour rush, were hundred if not thousands would have been on this bridge...may they be found alive & if they have passed may it have been so quick...such a sad day
I’m here hours after a ship hit this bridge n took it down. Let’s pray for the lives lost in this horrible tragedy
Just like that it’s gone! Haunting
Great steel bridge. R.I.P to the victims.
It's bigger than I thought from the aerial images after the collapse
Ikr like so freaky
I agree. And higher. This was a good look at it.
no way those workers could survive, that's alot of metal falling down on them
Prayers out for those that still haven’t been recovered. I can’t imagine the horror driving on the highway to suddenly buried in rubble
Umm this is a bridge collapse, they are not buried under rubble

Finally someone bought this up. Everyone seems to be talking about the bridge itself and not the ppl who lost their lives. It's got to be terrifying.
RIP Key Bridge from the Eastern Shore!
This was a really nice bridge.
@@filler7359 Why do you say that?
I am from Baltimore, Maryland. I live in Glen Burnie, Maryland. I can't believe that the bridge would be destroyed in my lifetime. I am so sad this happened.
Your amazing video is about to go viral.
37 years ago I remember going over the bridge to visit relatives in Virginia. Man, what a shock to see it gone and those that perished.😢
My heart goes out to those affected 💔
Great vid I now see and feel the bridge
RIP Key Bridge, 3/26/2024
I woke up around 5:00 After Midnight to go to my restroom when my Mother told me "The Key Bridge Collapsed". In my head, I went "No. That cannot happen. It is impossible. And is this serious?” And then I checked my device and I saw the heartbreaking reality that happened that morning. I felt like weeping not just because of the deaths of the men, but the Bridge defined the Skyline of Baltimore. As a patriotic Marylander it hit me. I rode with Family and Close Friends over the bridge and I loved the mighty truss bridge. I have no words. I am just extremely heartbroken. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the men who most likely perished.
The mighty bridge giving way into the river below feels like losing a loved one at some moments.
Same here. I'm from Frederick. I remember when that bridge first opened. I went over it one time. It's devastating
RIP to the 6 construction workers who worked on that bridge 😭😭😭 Stay strong, Baltimore
Man I'm sorry but it part of life:(
Its much bigger looking from this perspective. This film is historic now.
I always looked forward to crossing this bridge. I'll miss these drives.

You’re a quick little guy huh
It's alote bigger then I thought!
Heartbreaking event tonight...
So sad reminds me of the Queen Isabella Causeway incident. May God protect those who were there at that exact moment.
I live well north of the city and for years commuted to work near BWI. There were three possible routes; Harbor Tunnel, Key Bridge, and Fort McHenry Tunnel. Each morning I would check traffic to determine the least congested route. Although longer, often it was the Key Bridge. Crazy to think it’s gone.
RIP Bridge.
Thank you for sharing this video. Riding across it (in this video) is eerie now that the bridge has been destroyed by that ship. It is heartbreaking and may the people who lost their lives will rest in peace and may God comfort those families left behind.
historic footage now!
Yooo that bridge is huge 😢 prayers for the victims
Thanks for the video. It shows up close how massive the beams are, they look like matchsticks in the videos from afar

Seeing it like this makes you realize how big that bridge was.
What a catastrophe.
Now that's a neat bridge

It sure was
After the collision, i wanted to see a video of the bridge. Great video, its the things u never think of till something like this happens. So sad. Prayers for all involved.. awsome footage of the bridge !
Looking at the crash on the live stream made the bridge look like a toy Erector Set, but seeing it from this POV makes you wonder how just a barge hitting a support could cause all this to collapse.
You are the hero we don't deserve Mountain Man Mike!
Can you imagine if that tragedy’s happen when the traffic hours? 😳
You officially got some legendary footage 👍🏾
Thanks for the upload.
America needs to spend more on infrastructure and less on war.
Agreed.
I wish our government didn't have their priorities so absolutely fucked up. They're supposed to care about us, the taxpaying citizens.
@@rhapsodyshadow_Biden was “suppose”to do this😶
We are.
this is stupid
im 12 years old and usually don’t get pressed by this but this is just bullshit
first off, the boat is MANY tons. each truck you see comes from a cargo on a ship, so imagine that but over 40k times, thats over 200,000 tons.
second of all the bridges infrastructure is VERY weak in the middle due to it not having support at all, which is why you go UP to go on a bridge and just dont go straight (applies to most suspension bridges) and the bridge was hit in the middle.
why do we need to spend less money on war? if we did literal a nuclear ww3 would happen without americas war superpower so try again😘
third of all ITS A FUCKING SHIP WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FOR IT TO STOP THE BIG ASS HAULING BOAT? the bridge is gonna have to collapse either way because there is no way as there is a god that the bridge wouldn’t collapse, and all you can do is thank god that it wasn’t during Baltimore rush hour traffic and only 6 people died. ok?🎀
rip i-695 Baltimore Francis Scott Key Bridge over Marine Channel you will be remembered 🙏
Nice bridge!!
Its gones 😕🤙
It was beautiful!!❤
Damn, I can't imagine how horrifying it must have been to have all that crashing on top of you in the middle of the night.
Condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of those who perished on the collapse. May you all feel peace and find comfort and come to terms with such a terrible things. Sending my love and sympathy to you all 😢😢😢❤❤❤❤
This is a historical document now!
Omg it’s gone now . This is horrific!!
Соболезнуем Вам. Очень жалко людей которые ехали по этому мосту в момент аварии. Терпенья родным и близким.
The good news is that they managed to close the bridge to traffic in minutes so there were no motorists on it at the time of the collapse. The bad news is they weren’t able to get the six workers off of the bridge in time.
My condolences to all people lost , Baltimore always in my mind ..
nice bridge!
(R.I.P from Germany)
I never rode on that bridge, but I hope I will do one day.
too late, the bridge just collapsed today.

Damm that bridge be busy! It didn't look like much from the collapse video
After the crew of the ship sent out a mayday, police were able to stop traffic, plus the accident happened in the middle of the night.
It’s only untill you see this you appreciate the sheer size of the bridge 🇺🇸🇬🇧

The steel structure is actually huge... Doesn't look that big next to the Cargo ship.

The traffic is going to be crazy on the nearby bridges until this one is replaced. Sad that it's gone.
Glad I got to see this, bridge is gone now.
Hey, Mike. We have some breaking news. The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore just collaped 3 days after its 47th anniversary of its opening.
March 23rd is my birthday
May peace someday be upon the families and friends of those lost in this unimaginable tragedy.
It is such a good thing you made this video! No one will ever drive over this bridge again - at least not this version of it. It fell into the water yesterday.
I have never been to Baltimore I just wanna see what it's like to drive/ride up there
I used to work there in 1978 and 79 before I went to the Marine corps.
Sadly it is no more, condolences to the families who lost their loved
