But there is one i actually like a lot Minniva's Sabatons covers, and surprise she also have a nice deep singing voice.
@Never Trust Bob First of all thx, even that you said you dont like a specific part , about Sabaton, you Sir did it with respect and that is nowadays fucking rare. But, even that i totally respect and understanding your point and even agree with it, except that Joakim is the worst big vocalists, is there still a Question! Does Sabaton actually need a wide range? I mean, to be honest and because you mention Till (Lindemann) allready, look at Rammstein? What is actually the great thing about them? Their Range if you want to tell it like that? The Lyrics, the shocking moments and the Pyro-Show. Beside that, Rammstein ist very limited/Basic. But if you would change anything about Rammstein, it wouldnt sound anymore like Rammstein. Because, the way Rammstein is Build up , is the way it works best. Same with Joakim , it works perfectly the way he does it, which you can see very often with Sabaton Covers. Even if they are made very well, they mostly dont have the same Power in it.
@Never Trust Bob First of all, i have to say sry to everone who are feeling triggered by the next word. I see it in both direction, if we will look at Joakim in a professionel way of a singer, yeah no question about it, he isnt that great when it comes to the range and how he botch some of the high notes sometimes. You cant disagree with that. BUT and that is the biggest BUT for me. I also see the Context between Joakims skills and what Sabaton is actually doing and that is more important for me. Sure, like we said, he doesnt hit the High notes etc. but that fits perfectly to the whole War thing that Sabaton is Based on. A War always Dirty, yeah i called Joakim singing Range a dirty work, a war never goes by the plan but you will bring the war to an end no matter what. And we all know a war brings casualites but the war will be fought. The same goes with Sabaton Songs, like Shiroyama! They know exactly that Joakim will probably botch the high notes, but at the End only one thing matters. That audience has a great fucking time and if they have to take casualites to fullfill this. Fine do it.
@Never Trust Bob i agree. joakim is not that great of a singer, but he kicks ass on stage. and, personally speaking, i like his low voice a lot more than all these "ball squeezing" high voices that power metal typically has ahahah
It's always fun watching you react to metal! You just can't sit still to this kind of music! You are truly a Metalhead Beth 🤘 YES!! More metal to the people 🤘
If you want your history lesson then Sabaton's "The Last Battle" and "No Bullets Fly" are songs based on truly wonderful stories from the horror of war
I was lucky enough to see them during the Great Tour in the U.S., and it was one of the best experiences of my life. He's got great control, and everyone did an amazing job given the high elevation. Glad you enjoyed 'em.
Joakim is unique, for sure! He sounds like Joakim more than anybody else, and I give him credit for having his own sound. Oh, and yes, us baritone kinda guys never get enough attention since we're not squealing tenor air raid sirens who get your attention with how outrageously high they can go. Not to mention Swedes on average speak better English than many of us Americans do, so I'm not at all surprised at his diction and delivery. Now pleasepleasePLEASE give David Vincent a shot, because one of America's greatest death metal vocalists deserves some attention, IMO--"God of Emptiness" is where you want to begin for a really good showcase of his prowess.
Perhaps not the best choice for a Sabaton reaction (vocally speaking) Joaquim shows more interesting things in "Bismarck" or "Night Witches". Greetings Beth, love your channel.
Sabaton is according to me a somewhat limited band in many regards, but this song and how its performed live in this case is extremely powerful and emotional for me, same with 40:1. Overall the band is very flat and the studio versions of the songs is not that great, but they grow alot in my eyes (and ears) when they perform live. Heavier, faster, more emotional, positive energy. I will look into the songs you suggested, maybe they are better when performed live
@@AlexGNR? I think you misunderstood what i meant. "limited" as in they get very repetative, small range in vocals, doesnt expirement that much, same song structure and as you said 103 songs about different wwII battles (havent counted myself i take your word for it). I think that fits the definition of the word limited in some aspects
@@koettfaers Their style has changed quite a bit in the past few years. They have even experimented with using symphonic elements and choirs. This perfomance of Uprising was by far the best live song they ever did. Most of that comes from the crowd just being fucking insane that evening. I usually prefer the album stuff, but this is one of the few songs where I think they got it better than studio. The thousands of people singing along certainly adds to the effect.
They are Polish and the song is about the Polish Uprising........... its bound to happen. I would safely say the Polish the currently the most nationalistic (not like the NAZI nationalistic way, but just the extreme pride for ones nation and history) nation group in Europe at this moment (this is not a bad thing, in my opinion this is a great thing to be proud of ones nation)
I think the best live song(s) they did is Price of a Mile (Wacken 2019), 40:1 (also WOA 2019), Swedish Pagans (also WOA 2019), Lejonas Fråm Nörden (Great Tour live) and then Uprising (Woodstock 2012). That is my opinion 😁
Saw Sabaton live, was a truly epic experience. A tuesday, in Winter and a tiny venue. Place was PACKED and absolutely THUNDERING! The Band has such power and the crowd always loves them
The crowd is so "into" it because this performance was in Poland, and the song is about the Warsaw uprising. There is another video out on youtube for the song "40:1" from the same concert. Also electric! Those Polish are a patriotic group!
Beth: This song was about the Polish uprising in 1944 -- fighting against the Nazis -- notwithstanding the fact the Allies basically left the Polish people to die. Not exactly our finest hour, to be sure, but it is still inspiring, nonetheless. Great reaction, Beth!
We can agree on that, but there's even more going on than most people know. So first we need to notice that the Warsaw Uprising took place after D-Day, so the Western Allies were perhaps a little busy anyway; from the 4th of August (3 days after W-Day) Western forces began air drops in support of the Uprising, initially by the 1568th Polish Special Duties Flight (equipped by and subordinated to the RAF after the fall of Poland), later joined by No 31 and 34 Sqns of the South African Air Force, and No 148 and 178 Sqns of the RAF. The flights were limited effectiveness because the air crews couldn't see the marker flares, there were so many fires of such size that the Warsaw was visible from "100 km away", but the fire and smoke masked the flares (so a lot of stuff ended up where the Polish were notably absent, but guess who wasn't absent). They were also limited in how much they could carry; realising this the RAF and SAAF asked the USSR for permission to use their airbases on the 20th, but on the 22nd Stalin denied the request, referring to the resistance as "a handful of criminals" and saying that the Uprising was inspired by "enemies of the Soviet Union". There were actually incidents where PAF/RAF/SAAF aircraft flying from Italy were shot at by the Soviets because they strayed into their airspace. Churchill actually suggested to Roosevelt that they send planes anyway to "see what happens", but Roosevelt didn't want to piss off Stalin before the Yalta Conference. Eventually the USSR allowed a USAAF mission to refuel at Soviet airfields, but as that took place on the 18th of September it was a little bit too late. And then they didn't let them do so again until the 30th, once the weather had gotten bad enough that they couldn't fly anyway. The Soviets did try their own re-supply missions between the 13th and 30th of September, but they ran into the same problems with finding their targets. Also worth noting that given the Red Army stopped about 10 km from the city for ~40 days... So perhaps it's fair to say that they were wanting the Polish and Germans to bleed each other out so they could seize and hold the city with greater ease. Can we have a shout out to the Hungarians though? Hungarians and Poles have been friendly for a long time, and even though the Hungarians were officially subordinated to the German 9th they treated Polish partisans in their field hospitals, gave supplies (including weapons and ammo) to the Polish fighters they were supposed to capture, warned the Poles about German plans and troop movements. They even staged mock battles, in which the Hungarians "fled" and the Poles "pillaged" their supplies (which often included large numbers of firearms). Once the Hungarians jammed the German radio frequencies to thwart an attack on a Polish radio post.
I'm only seeing your videos for the first time today. I have to say I really love that you do a bit of research on the things you react to. And you really get into it. It's nice. Makes it much more genuine.

Sabaton's music is amazing, but their atmosphere when they do live performances is just insane. I'm still really bummed that I couldnt go see them when they were down here in Dallas a few months ago...
As a Swedish rocker and a history enthusiast I have listened loads on Sabaton and had the pleasure to go and see them in Stockholm along with Iron Maiden 2013 and I can just say it was the best musical experience for me ever. And all the history I have learned from it too!
I am so so so so SO happy you checked out Sabaton. It really makes me happy to see you check out my favorite metal band, and to hear you have done research into them as well.
Sabaton is one of the greatest at writing and delivering those sing along metal hymns. Wich makes the atmosphere in the crowd incredible and a concert of them a great experience.
Amon Amarth runs into the problem of, while the gnarlier voice work is *technically* impressive, it's something that's difficult to to, it's honestly very generic and lacks variation. One death growl is the same as the other between one voice and another. Amon Amarth's clean stuff is fucking great and shows off impressive work, and give the growls where they are used a lot of power and emphasis, but being honest harsh vocals used *constantly* is the mumblerap of the metal world. It's a trap a lot of bands fall into. See Alestorm. Too much growl and scream ruins an otherwise excellent band.
I think you have a point but what I think is impressive with him is how low his growls(and his range) are and how clear they are, which I think makes them relatively unique
First time I saw Sabaton in concert they were an opener for Trivium. I left after Sabaton because they were who I came for and I sure got my money's worth. Just saw them for my second time on tour in Phoenix, but this time headlining with Hammerfall opening. Even better than the first time!

Because of the clean singing? Burden would be a good alternative to your suggestion. Mikael also explores his clean vocals on the new album and tries some stuff we haven't heard him do before.
Beth did listen to Harlekin Forest before. Albeit not an early Song, Mikael had not changed his Style dramatically then, compared to what he did on the early records. So Beth wouldn't hear anything completely new, if she went back there. Northern Michifish probably did suggest Porcelain Heart for the different style of singing, not because it's the new stuff.

@@tornoutlaw I understand the point - to me, however, Everything up to and including the Ghost Reveries is brilliant - but the first few albums are Mikael at his most emotional - Everything from the Growls, Whispers, Screams and singing has something that I feel Mikael lost. I seen a lot of Sabaton covers and most of them doesnt sounds like Sabaton at all or not even bring the feelings in.
Should check out Sabaton's song Great War.
Or Seven Pillars Of Wisdom
Or Fields of Verdun
Fuck it, why not the whole album.
Or just all their songs
I mean my sabaton playlist is just every album
Sabaton seems to have consistantly outstanding crowds, even by metal standards. I highly recommend their shows.

Saw Sabaton last night at Wembley Arena, what a voice, what a band.
I low-key love the crowd singing along in the chorus, it makes it sound even more powerful

A suprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

I am from Sweden to and I love Sabaton
Nice to see such enthusiasm from someone who doesn't look like a Sabaton fan
Now pleasepleasePLEASE give David Vincent a shot, because one of America's greatest death metal vocalists deserves some attention, IMO--"God of Emptiness" is where you want to begin for a really good showcase of his prowess.
it is at PolaAndRock festival. it is ticket free fest in kostrzyn nad odra in Poland with 1 000 000 people.
@@koettfaers limited? They got 103+ songs about WW2 alone...
I think Joakim Broden is kind of like Ozzy Osbourne in the sense that he's not the most talented or technically proficient vocalist but he's a great showman and he sounds perfect for the band and what they do.
I think you're now my favorite person on the internet.
Thank you.
I get goosebumps every time I hear this song
When I toured Warsaw and saw the Uprising Memorial, this song popped into my head.
Ive seen Sabaton live twice now and it just gets better and better every time
Beth: This song was about the Polish uprising in 1944 -- fighting against the Nazis -- notwithstanding the fact the Allies basically left the Polish people to die.

Just a FYI: Hannes (Floor's husband) didn't join Sabaton until 2014 - 2 years after this concert ( per Wikipedia, anyway!)
Sabaton is one of the greatest at writing and delivering those sing along metal hymns. Wich makes the atmosphere in the crowd incredible and a concert of them a great experience.
Does anyone else prefer Uprising live than in the actual performance.
You mean than studio?
Or wdym
There's no Sabaton without Joakim. No one can replace him... yet
When is Amon Amarth coming no one has done them
A couple of the songs like iron sides have his clean vocals and well it’s awesome!

Should watch Opeth "Porcelain Heart"
Because of the clean singing? Burden would be a good alternative to your suggestion. Mikael also explores his clean vocals on the new album and tries some stuff we haven't heard him do before.
As an oldschool Opeth fan - I'd suggest that anyone should listen to old Opeth first - like Black Rose Immortal or anything from Orchid
@@MajesticDemonLord Also, as a vocal coach Beth is focused on singing techniques and stylistic choices of the vocalists and not so much on the songwriting. Black Rose immortal is a long song, with not much to break down vocally and with all due respect to you and early Opeth, wouldn't make for good reaction imo.
@@tornoutlaw I understand the point - to me, however, Everything up to and including the Ghost Reveries is brilliant - but the first few albums are Mikael at his most emotional - Everything from the Growls, Whispers, Screams and singing has something that I feel Mikael lost.
I think it's best summed up by the Man himself (paraphrased): 'I'm glad when I hear people complain that I don't growl anymore, that means it meant something to them and I'm proud that it meant something'.
