- Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed this video on the Utah Railway, another "Fallen Flag" The original Utah Railway and its many coal trains over the D&RGW;s Soldiers Summit, are but a memory now. The Utah Railway was sold in 2002 to Genesee & Wyoming Inc.
The roar of the lead SD40's is just wonderful music to hear, as was the sweet sounds of the SP's P3 old cast horns as the train enters Nolan and Kyune tunnels. The mix of EMD power in the mid-train helpers wasn't shabby either with the sounds of the F45, and the SD45 adding to the music.
Video was taken May 9, 1996 with a Sharp Slimcam VHS camera.

Very nice Jack always Love SD40/45 types, I always love this Railroads operation and especially those ex ATSF Alco RSD-15's they had and seeing them in Rail mags and video over the years 👍

Spent a lot of time driving through that canyon as a kid. Nice trip down memory lane. Was also fun to see D&RGW tunnel motors, and later SP units back in the day.
I miss it all. So many changes over the years.
Utah is now a fallen flag now ?
Yah, the original Utah Rwy is gone. G&W took it over, and everything is now in the typical G&W paint. All the mines are gone on the Utah as well. Shame.
