@@eddyvideostar I think it is possible but you will need to google your type of blind and "side mounting bracket set." For instance, for my blinds they do not come standard but I could order side mounting brackets separately. Best of luck!

Completely agree we actually saved more than $3,000 on our home by installing our own 2 1/2 inch faux wood blinds compared to the average of 2 quotes from blinds installers. Way to take the initiative and save some money 🤑
To Inna V: It is the cost labor that the mom and pop contractors siphon off from good people. They are slick, stealth, sly and wily and often leave a bad taste in my mouth -- and wallet.
I don't know if any of you will know the answer. How do you install mini blinds on Renewal by Anderson windows ? I want them inside like my old window had. They apparently say you void the warranty on the window if you put any holes in the frame. Or whatever the exact term is. My windows are small that need the inside mounted blinds. It's a pain that I may not be able to have custom ordered blinds put back up.
I am glad I watched your vid. This is the second one I have watched. I actually thought that the big end went on the bottom. The hardware does -- sort of -- snap on the bottom end if you were to try to put it on upside down. I was not happy with it and I was thinking that it isn't snapping in good enough and that it will fall down when pulling the blinds down. I also questioned why the hardware was shaped the way it was. So don't assume all of us dummies know which end goes up for next time!
I came here to see why my blind wouldn't snap into place. He said it takes 5 minutes to install a blind. He's was right. I had my hangers mounted upside down. 🤣
Still having trouble snapping the blind in the bracket. I screwed the bracket just above the window casing on the wall (for outside installation). I think the little PRESS gadget can't move since it's pressed on the top of the casing, so tomorrow I'll try to install on the casing and see if that works? Can you visualize what I'm talking about?
Hi Shirley, I can and understand what you are describing. Those brackets are designed for both inside and outside mount so if mounted correctly the tab with "PRESS" should be able to flex so it can click on the top rail. It can take some force to get the tab to move around the notch in the top rail. You need to have both sides lined up at the same time to ensure you aren't binding the bracket and then making it harder to attach. I was drilling in the same spots u were and the drill wouldn’t go further it was hitting something hard. and where the old blinds were it was an inside mount but on the sides of the window not the top, so Should I just put them on the sides ?
Everyday Home Repairs I’m not sure, I spoke to a guy at Home Depot and he said it’s most likely metal and to use a self drilling screw but tht still didn’t work and didn’t go all the way in. When I stopped drilling there was something tan and a lil sticky on the screw, so maybe is cement? I’m not sure.

Ive been having the same problem. I cant find any spot to drill upward. All previous blinds appear to be side mounts but new blinds dont really come like that anymore. I only see the newer brackets work in newer construction. Everything around here is mostly 70+ year old homes. I dunno if windows frames are just constructed different.

I was stupid. I tried wrapping a dark bed sheet over my apartment blinds and I knocked them right off. Thanks for cluing me on how to clip them back on!
Normally I prefer Home Depot however Lowe’s has a super fast cutting machine that will trim your blinds for free. I had the aluminum mini blinds I bought there cut to 54” wide the price was only forty bucks. Damn good deal !
Hey Gary, I have used Lowe’s as well over the years. By chance the HD in our area has a really good selection so the majority of jobs are covered with what is in stock. Lowe’s is my next choice and the Menards in our area basically got out of the blind business a couple years back and have very little on the shelf.

Dear Sir Everyday HR: Is it possible to find or create side box clips similar to the box clips from the regular corded mini blinds so that they could be seated from the sides?
If you have the same brand of blinds there is a little metal taboo the bracket located at the lower back corner of the blind head rail (top part of the blind). All you have to do is hold the head rail and press the tab to release the blind. Might take a little wiggling but should be pretty easy to remove.
For some reason I cannot install the venetian blinds that I have purchase I did everything right and I still cannot do it it doesn't get into the brackets
Hey Jose, is the bracket “snapping” when you push the head rail into the bracket? The snap indicates the blind head rail is secured to the bracket. Sometimes if the bracket isn’t fully secure (no snap) it will hold the blind up but will fall when you pull the blind down.
Can someone send me to a video that shows how to mount the brackets and clip in the blinds when the top part of the window frame is recessed and not flat like this one?
Hey Cheryl, you can put them on prior to hanging the blind. This is referring to the end caps which go on each end of the blind head rail. Let me know if you have any other questions.
You forgot to tell people if there's no wood and you have sheetrock you should use plugs first because if you just put screws into sheetrock you try to put that blind then it's going to rip that bracket right out I like the old-fashioned end brackets is so much easier and better these other brackets you have to be pretty strong to to push them in

@@EverydayHomeRepairs I have spent more than 20 minutes. The directions that came with the Home Depot blinds are worthless when it comes to trying to put that top of the blinds into the brackets. My window needed 54" width so I installed 3 brackets without a problem. The problem was with clipping them into those brackets. I didn't know that the front needed to go in first because the directions made it sound like it had to go into the back first and then trying to get the front to clip in under the front of the blinds was not happening.

Just so you know, you can't position brackets arbitrarily on all types. I watched this and had to take them down right after. These damn things are so horribly engineered. I don't understand how they came to this mounting solution.
you are installing under ideal conditions. i am installing outside the frame and their is no snap when you press them in place. the blinds will not set flat against the wall. waste of money. will go back to the corded type.
Ok so $50/hr is perfect for u to make sitting home on a computer but I’m not supposed to make that much doing hard labor work! U are crazy an should wake up. People are paid by work u do. Not how pretty u look! Nice vid tho 👍
If you do quality work I am sure you will have more than enough work for years to come. I type this while sitting in a rehab project getting ready to hang blinds so not sure I am the enemy you are looking for.

Yep you will just raise up the bottom of the blind and it will automatically retract and hold any any position you set.

Would you install these over faux wood? I can’t help but feel like if blinds are going to get messed up why not just buy these instead of faux wood

I would gladly pay the fifty bucks.... Just spent an hour trying to hang these SOB's and used every tool I had minus the floor jack. "F" it.

you are installing under ideal conditions. i am installing outside the frame and their is no snap when you press them in place. the blinds will not set flat against the wall. waste of money. will go back to the corded type.
I have found it tough to find corded blinds in the bast year or 2. Seems like most brands made a complete switch to cordless.
Ok so $50/hr is perfect for u to make sitting home on a computer but I’m not supposed to make that much doing hard labor work! U are crazy an should wake up. People are paid by work u do. Not how pretty u look! Nice vid tho 👍
If you do quality work I am sure you will have more than enough work for years to come. I type this while sitting in a rehab project getting ready to hang blinds so not sure I am the enemy you are looking for.
