    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs 3 роки тому

      If you go to Home Depot and have them cut the blinds to size I would have them cut the blinds to 35" which would give 1/4" clearance on each side and then 1/2" clearance in the middle of the 2 blinds. If you find in stock blinds that might work remember if the box says 35" wide the blinds are actually only 34.5" wide because they build in the 1/4" clearance to each side. Best of luck!

    The problem for me was that in the UK; window recesses are built differently without wood fascia. The top is usual a steel or concrete lintel with a light plaster skim and the sides are usually brick with a plaster covering and skim. This makes this method difficult. The only solution in this situation is to attatch a wooden baton to the top and then use that as an anchor for the brackets.

  • @wyattspop

    Great video, the only thing I would add is when you're installing them inside the window frame on a single large blind (not 3 smaller as he's doing here), lining up the clamps you're installing
    must be very close to perfect, so measure, mark the holes, and measure again before you drill...unless you want some holes in your frame. If you do say a 5 or 6 ft wide blind that requires 3 clamps, if any of the 3 (especially the middle clamp) are not perfectly aligned, the blind will not snap in place and job failed. When doing small blinds like this gentleman installed, with only 2 clamps, it's more "forgiving". Thanks for this video

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs 4 роки тому +2

      Hey Joseph, good question and yes the normal cranks on the casement windows will interfere with the 2 1/2 inch blinds when you do an inside mount. Options to remedy while maintaining inside mount this would be:
      1) Foldable Cranks: amzn.to/2KCFEKS
      2) Tee Handle Cranks: amzn.to/2W5aP7c
      Option 1 is easier to open and close but probably about 2X the cost. Also maybe going with a 2 inch opposed to 2.5 inch would give a little more clearance. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs 4 роки тому

      Hey Dana, it can be a bit confusing. If you measure your window opening and it is 34 inches wide then you would go to Home Depot or similar store and select the 34 inch wide blind. The catch is the blind will actually be 33 1/2 inches wide to give you a 1/4 inch gap on each side which is the desired install size and spacing. Make sense? If you are getting blinds custom cut make sure you take the gaps you desired off the measurement you give the person doing the trimming or you might come home and the blinds won’t fit. Let me know if you have any follow up questions.

    Thank you for the video! This is very useful. Do these blinds move up and down as a whole as well other than just open and close? Asking since these blinds seem to be cordless.

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs 4 роки тому +3

      Yeah with cordless blinds you can just push them up or pull them down from the bottom and they will stay in place. You will still have the wand for adjust the angle of the slats to let in more or less light. Seems like all blinds are moving to cordless.

      If it’s a double window, take the overall trim to trim opening measure & split that number. So if it’s 70-3/4, store will split that to 35-3/8 35-3/8, and they will do the deductions of a 1/4 on each side to be safe

    I put up the exact blinds but re-did it moving the bracket in 3/4 of an inch so my valances fit inside the window. I had to have some of them cut 1/8 to 1/4 of and inch to get them inside. Just an option that I wish was mentioned in the instructions.. Great Video. thanks

    from what I can tell, everyone skips over the part of the horrible instructions that say to remove button on the bottom with a screwdriver and then shows confusing pictures of what to do. EVERY single install video skips this part and how to actually unfurl the blinds to the full size before hanging. Every one

    • @cheapme1850
      @cheapme1850 10 місяців тому

      Exactly! How many video are out there showing how to mount blinds, which is the easy part frankly. I just bought these blinds and I needed to know how to shorten them. The instructions are terrible but I finally found out how to do it. The key is to carefully cut the little hoop that holds the slats in place, at both sides of the blinds. You’ll see them because they’re the only hoop keeping them in place. There aren’t any hoops in the middle portion so the slat will slide right out. Once you do that, you have to carefully cut and trim the “ladder” strings. Now you can move the blinds up to a comfortable height, carefully pop the buttons out, cut the ladder strings to about 3” like it says in the instructions and here’s the key, you have to really twist the two ladder strings together before shoving them into the hole or the button won’t go back in. Shove the strings in at the bottom of the twist as neat as you can and the button will go back in with some effort.

    Hi- one of my blind brackets is not holding blinds properly… it’s happening for every window. Do you know what I might be doing wrong ? I’m measuring and doing the exact way you have explained. Thx 🙏

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs Рік тому

      Does the blind keep popping off when you try to clip it into place? I usually can solve this by mounting the blind to the back of the head rail and rotate into place while applying pressure towards the back of the bracket making sure it doesn't pop off as I rotate the head rail into place to get the front clip to secure into place.

    • @-ssch
      @-ssch Рік тому

      @@EverydayHomeRepairs the rear bracket hook is holding well with no issues. But the one which holds the front of the blind is sitting loose on one side. When I lift the cordless blinds and pulling it down it’s popping off

    Thank you for the video. 87'' was the total width, so the total of the length of the blinds is 87''". What was the width of each blind that you ordered? You did it so well, the space among them is very little.
    How about making a video on how to remove the blinds step by step?

    • @EverydayHomeRepairs
      @EverydayHomeRepairs 3 роки тому

      Hey LA, it can be tricky but for 87" I would get 3 blinds 29'" wide. If you get a blinds with 29" marked on the box then the actual width will be 28.5" to provide the recommend 1/4" on each side. You will have a little more gap in this scenario between each blind (1/4" + 1/4" = 1/2") but that should still work well to keep the light out and provide the desired privacy. If you go to home depot and have them custom cut the blinds make sure to tell them to cut at 28.5" as they will not take off the gap from the measurement you provide. Hopefully that makes sense and let me know if you have any follow up questions.

      Hey HV, will you be mounting the blinds inside lke the video demonstrated or outside the window casing? If inside these 2.5 inch faux wood blinds have a bracket and head rail which are about 2.75 wide. If mounting outside you probably want about 1.5 inches of flat surface to mount the bracket. Hope this helps!

    The video seems to use fast motion and skip frames while he is installing. This is supposed to be an installation video not marketing. Also, my valance is different than one shown so you have to play with it before you install to make sure it snaps properly. I would also do the same with the clips that hold the blinds up before installing to get an idea of what it is like when installing instead of trying to figure it out while trying to hold blinds up and snap. A dry run of sorts. Good luck.
