Hi! Here’s the plans for the workbench: www.woodshopdiaries.com/diy-mobile-workbench/ I buy my plywood at Home Depot. This is birch. You can read more about how and where to buy plywood here: www.woodshopdiaries.com/how-to-choose-plywood-for-furniture-and-cabinets/
Thank you so much! I haven’t built anything or size from MDF. What little I’ve used thin MDF panels for small craft projects in the past made me never want to use it for large projects. I know some people use it for painted projects, but I’ve always avoided it.
Hi Shara! First off, awesome job!! Secong, very cool project! Questions, outside of the planning stage, how long do you think it took you to fabricate, assemble and install the cabinets?? I am looking to do something similar but would like to make sure I have enough time to complete it. Thanks =D
That turned out great! The closet space is so much better utilized now. I'm always in awe of how you screw everything together with pocket screws and don't have to clamp. If i don't clamp before installing the pocket screws my piece sometimes moves out of alignment. I don't use pocket screws enough to master them like you have. I redid my walk-in closet too and it's so much better now. Builders always seem to stick a couple rods with a shelf above in the closets and call them done. Missed Lucy and Bubby in this video. Hope they were just taking a break!
A very nice closet upgrade! You always create something that I realize that I should be doing at home too! lol…. This one is ingenious and you always have such great ideas and illustrations. I missed Bubs! Please keep on building Shara!
Shara, my mind keeps flashing back and forth between "before" and "after". A remarkable improvement over what you had. I'm sending this one over to my Wife and starting to look at our storage needs around this house. I'm wrapping up our outdoor projects so turning my head to our indoor projects is attractive. Hugs and kisses to the critters. Wishing you a great weekend. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
Closet rebuilds or redesigns are so much fun to watch. It elevates the space to tale the builder grade installs out and put in something that has more storage and better meets your tastes and needs. You did a great job.
Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed it. Since there’s only about 3 1/2” between the wall and door opening, it would be pretty cramped to put another cabinet or shelves there. You’d walk into it as you entered 🙈 But it would be great for a mirror or some hooks to hang belts, hats, or store shoes. Thanks so much for watching and I hope you have a great weekend, too!
I always enjoy a closet build! Looks great. I always think there's someone walking around outside the rear of your shop. But it's just your reflection off of the windows. 😂
Thank you! That’s so funny 😆 certain times of the day if the wind is blowing, the leaves on the trees back there catch me off guard and make me think the same thing 🙈😆
That worked out really well. I was wondering if you were going to tie the rear cabinet to the shelf, but being separate works out. So many people think it it all has to tie together, and it doesn’t
Absolutely! They can certainly be tied together with another shelf, but being separate makes it work for various size closets. Mine didn’t have a lot of extra space to add a shelf between so I didn’t bother. But if yours was wider, it could totally make sense to connect them or even use that extra space for more hanging. There are a million options 😅 Glad you enjoyed the build! I appreciate you watching!
These are so very useful and adaptable to lots of different circumstances! I wish I'd had access to this 15 years ago when we installed a famous-brand closet system in our master closet... Now, those of us who've followed you for a while know very well that you love to build drawers, but what's with that expression at 4:45? 😉 Methinks the lady doth protest too much at the edge banding portion of drawer-building...🤣😂👍 I really like your design choices for making the most of a kinda awkward space though... I think you succeeded at giving the space some "function." Love the interesting camera angles and edits (even 3:46).
My goal was to try to make this as simple to customize as possible because I know closets come in so many shapes and sizes. Haha I do love drawers but edge banding isn’t my favorite-worth it, but not super enjoyable 🙈🤣 I’m glad you enjoyed the project and the video! I so appreciate you watching and following along. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and happy building! 🙌
4:44 That's the look of someone who loves the process of applying edge banding. 😂 Congrats to Bubby, he must be on vacation this week. 😂 Nice and easy upgrade, thanks for the ideas Shara! Have a great weekend!
Haha I LOOOOVE edge banding--can't you tell? 😂 Bubs was being a bit lazy this week--no inspections because the weather was nice and he was sunning on the porch most of the time. Oh to be a shop cat... He will likely be around for the next one :) I appreciate you watching and following along and I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well!
Beautiful and simply! Great inspo! Thank you 😊
Love this!
I have a question. What are the dimensions of your shop?
Thanks for the ideas
Felicitaciones, le quedaron hermosos.
Cool build😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You are amazing!
Awesome
Great build! 💪🏻💪🏻
Great organization
Your videos are great! I love the DIY projects with professional touch. I’m making some notes for my guest bedroom closet!
Thank you for sharing your amazing gift! Not only we learned about cabinet making, but the whole concept is super neat too.
Edge banning and cell phone chatting, that's some serious multitasking. Nifty idea on utilizing some closet space, ❤it!
Love this closet system! How did you make the workshop cutting table? And where do UA-cam your plywood? What type of plywood? Looks handsome.
Edit: you not UA-cam

Awesome video! I just had a question for you. Have you ever built or tried to build anything with MDF or HDF?
Thank you so much! I haven’t built anything or size from MDF. What little I’ve used thin MDF panels for small craft projects in the past made me never want to use it for large projects. I know some people use it for painted projects, but I’ve always avoided it.

Just think California closets would only charge about $3000 for this ha. Shara, always saving people money

Your ideas and attention to detail never disappoint.
Thank you again for sharing a great build. I love the fact that you use plywood mist of the time and they always finish up looking sooo good 😊

I’m really enjoying you interacting with the camera more… It feels a lot more personal ❤
So no baseboard behind the cabinets you just made. ❤ More room
No baseboards behind them because I wanted the cabinets flat against the walls 😊
@@WoodshopDiaries mind blown lol makes sense tho
I love that you kept the wood natural, painted wood looks good but I like this better.
Excellent work! The closet cabinets look great. Thanks for sharing this.

THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO
Great way to maximize the functionality of a closet AND it looks good!
Love your closet idea. Very simple but also user friendly. Still plenty of space left for other item. Great job Shara. Have a great weekend. Steve

@@WoodshopDiaries You too. I am building sectors so 30 holes to drill to fit brass stops. Loads of fun. LOL.

What kind of pocket hole jig is that? I like the way it clamps down.
Hi! It's the Kreg 720. I've linked it under "Tools" in the video description 👍
As always, it was a pleasure to watch you. Idea, execution, the result - 👍
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
