    Hey Shara, just wanted to thank you and to say that I’ve learnt a lot from you. I’m a father of boys here and started following you last year during our lockdown. After seeing your video with Steve R, I realised how stressful yet brave you are to put up with all the scrutiny that UA-cam viewers can be sometimes. I love how simple your videos are as I find them all relatable given I’m just a simple DIYer. I hope you find a way to always keep it simple and love your attitude of how just enough is good enough. Will definitely be following how you did this piece as I’m hoping to build a similar shelving for the wife. Sending as much positivity your way all the way from the other side of the world here in New Zealand. Absolutely love your work. 👍🏼

      Hi! Thanks so much for following along all the way from New Zealand! So cool to know people from all over! I really appreciate that and I’m so happy you enjoy the videos. It’s discouraging sometimes making videos for UA-cam but the good outweighs the bad and the majority of viewers are the good ones 😊 I promise to always keep things simple and hope I can share a few helpful tips along the way. Thanks again so much for following. I truly appreciate it!

      @@WoodshopDiaries Gosh and sorry for spelling your name wrong! 😄 Can I blame autocorrect for that one? Shara comes out as Sharma?? Edited the original comment just in case. Incidentally I don’t just watch your videos once, I replay them step by step as I build my own. 😄 Look forward to seeing more!

    What an elegantly simple and functional piece! Hey, if you get your ply from a big-box store (like I have to), that stuff will bow on you no matter what. I've learned the hard way to do what you did - hide extra bracing in inconspicuous places to keep it true and square. Well done!

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much! I do buy my plywood from Home Depot and I haven’t really had a lot of issues with it being bowed. It seemed to get worse in this case with the drawers, so it could have been the weight or one of the drawers was trying to pull it in a little. Either way, I’m glad it was an easy fix haha! Anyway, Thanks so much for watching!

    • @craiggoodwin9704
      @craiggoodwin9704 3 роки тому +2

      I agree with your comment 100%. While plywood comes off the mill true and square shipping, handling, moisture content changes, how it is stored by the retailer and how long, as well as how it is stored and handled by the end user easily will affect its shape. Thanks Shara for sharing that note in your project. Handling wood changes is certainly a part of the build process.

    Turned out great. Good call giving yourself extra room on fitting the piece in place. I ran into a similar situation on a recently butlers pantry remodel. Closet corners are never square 😅

      Thanks so much! Exactly…never assume anything in any house is square 😂 I’ve learned that the hard way too!

      @@WoodshopDiaries It's a good call... nothing in our house was built square, some corners are so far out you can even see it! Having that little extra wiggle room is always a bonus and you can scribe the trim afterwards to fill the gap if needed.
