Wow i wish i had come across ur chanel before ,, i have watch alot of slap bass player but by far u have to be the best instructor out there... great job , u make a great instructor... 👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Playing bass guitar and guitar for 57 years this Saturday. I just now found this video and you made me fall in love with you at 7:50 when you said, “...if it’s frustrating to you, leave your guitar, come back the next day and try again.” Yes, it’s great advice, but that’s not the part I’m focused on, which is a bit trivial compared to the advice itself, but it’s something a *LOT* of bass guitar players complex over, which is *admitting that the bass guitar IS a guitar!” It’s always great to see the younger folks keeping it real, *THANK YOU!!*
Hey, great! ... BUT ... there are a few questions left ... a) Depending on scale length of the instrument - WHERE should thumb hit the string (22nd fret? 24th fret? end of fretboard?) ... b) WHICH pick-up should be used? (Bridge or Neck PU or both?) ... c) WHICH kind of bass should be used? (ash body/maple neck? or alder body/rosewood neck? ... ) ... d) long scale bass or short scale bass? ... Greetings and best wishes from Europe/Austria!
Excellent teaching, it's given quite a lot of trade secrets to us wanna b's, guitar player in transition, this is extremely helpful and given lots to work with..much appreciated..
Yonit, you are gifted bassist and teacher. So simple, straight forward and effective. I don't do slap often, not the kind of music I play, but, just it is a tool in my tool box. I always had problems with shoulder pain when I slap. Watching the video helped me realize my posture issue which I will be correcting.
Thank you for the lessons your are not the only channel I watch I watch other to learn but you deftly break it down for us 2 year old minds thank you soooo Much. 🙏
Thank you so much for teaching straight to the point. You are a fantastic bass player. I am your fan! I love listening to your band/project Foreign Hues as well. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. Greetings from Brazil
I don’t play bass but I find this intriguing. I play blues guitar. However, the blues guitarist Albert Collins has used these techniques throughout his whole career. He developed his style out of necessity because he was without a bass player. I appreciate this video very much. Makes me want to purchase a bass. Blues guitar is my main instrument but I do have other instruments that I play around with. I’m not good at these other instruments but gives me time to practice with them to familiarized myself with them. Many musicians have their main squeeze but have other instruments that they tinker with to give them that feel and sound they are looking for.
I've been trying to approach slap for a while but it's been difficult. You've been the most helpful with explaining and teaching slap. Thank you so much!🤘🎸🎶
(Y) -our (O) -wn (N) -ice (I) -nstrument (T) -alking 😊👍 nice vid! I've been playing bass now for over 30 years and never really "understood" slapping (the bass), but right now i'm motivated to start from the beginning. Cool Tipp: those Ghostnotes. Take care 🤘🎸
Thank you, Yonit! Only you did could explain slap technic clear! Thank you for your understanding of music, bass and the importance of rithm. I will try to get all information that you are giving in your lessons! Thank you. I left like to every your video! My great respect!
Thanks so much! Very useful information. I just started lessons locally and I was wondering how to start slapping...this I think will help so much! Can't wait to get home and practice this. You Rock!
Thanks! Super lesson. Now, if I could just figure out how Louis "Thunder Thumbs" Johnson could possibly slap individual strings with his palm instead of his thumb, that would be _awesome!_
I enjoy your videos Yonit. I practiced the slap, pop, and hammer-on you demonstrated here. The only thing missing was how you mute your G string after you pop it. I watched and re-watched your technique, but I could not see what you did. I think you mute it with the same finger you popped it with, but a demonstration or explanation would be helpful.
Hi Yonit, I really enjoy & love the way you play Bass. I've been watching, learning, even trying out some of youtube's Bass lessons, but getting nowhere. Are you in a school in New York City where I can go one on one with you & teach me some real good Bass playing. Your input is very much appreciated. Thank you & have a G8 day. Cheers.
thanks for these tips! i am a noob on slap, and i still trying to improve my technics. I dont know why my slap sound is so bad, if is because my skills, my bass, my amp, or all of this.
Thanks for the video. Question: could you speak to the issue of where the thumb is striking the string; i.e. Did I notice that the thumb was striking the string always at the end of the fretboard?
Nice to see women giving tips and lessons. Going to try and watch everything. Keep going. Don't stop.
After playing bass for over 20 years I still crack up when any reference is made to the G string 😂
Wow i wish i had come across ur chanel before ,, i have watch alot of slap bass player but by far u have to be the best instructor out there... great job , u make a great instructor... 👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
I subscribed because of the thumbnail alone. The hair, the bass… definitely subscribed. Great bass talk too lol.

As a 69 year old novice bass player, I’m finding these videos very helpful.

Nice bass. Love the Sadowsky
Good point that you suggest taking your time. I think it takes a while to build endurance for slap. Breaks help...cool video😎

I'm starting with the bass, and slap is one of the things that is most difficult for me (and my classmates). I will follow your advice, thank you!
Awesome video Yonit!
A little tip to you as a pay back. Your humidifier right on top of your keyboard/electronic piano will slowly cause damage to it.

Hey, that's my bass! It looks and sounds just like it. Sadowsky basses are the best! You play very well....
Hi Yonit. I have learned a lot in your videos! You are very good bass player.
Good instruction. When I learned this technique I found the right hand feel was similar to dribbling a basketball or hitting a speed bag.
Very good session, thank you Yonit.

You’ve demonstrated these points extremely well. Thank you for your contribution.
I've always thought of the rhythm of the slap/pop combo like percussion. Congas and bongos.
