I'm a german based grahic designer and illustrator and I used a lot of different pigmented inks (platinum, de atramentis, sailor, super5, rohrer & klinger, etc.) for my brush pens and also my fountain pens. My favorite one is the Rohrer & Klinger SketchINK. They come in a wide variety of colors and drys with the least amount of shine of all my inks. They are really affordable (i pay around 10-12 dollars or 8-10 euros for a 50 ml bottle) and the quality is excellent! I haven't any problems with clogging and im using them for more than 1 1/2 years on a regular basis. Give them a try and you will love them.

The only "downside" is the missing of a pure yellow for a cmyk system... Their yellow is a little bit too orange for that. I hope they will fill this gap in the future.

diluted inkjet ink works really well. 1 : 10 to 1 : 20 ink/water mostly still comes out pitch black (depending on the paper), so a bottle goes a long way. even the highly pigmented, water and fadeproof stuff does not become permanent, untill absorbed into paper. tends to flow a bit watery/dry, but a bit of gummi arabicum makes it run thicker and juicier, and keeps it on top of the paper, rather than feathering. (also works wonderfully in fountain pens)

Speedball India Ink is fine too. Brush pens don't really clog very easily. I also recommend inking a waterbrush instead of a using a "real" brush pen. Pentel Aquash (a.k.a. Vistage) is great, since you can squeeze to control the ink flow, and there are several brush sizes to choose from.

The thing I do to keep the ink from crusting up on the bottle threads is: I take a wet paper towel and wipe off the threads and rim of ink , along with wiping out the inside of the cap. That way uncapping the ink bottle takes less effort the next time one uses the ink.
