    Never even thought of thinning the ink. Will try it next time. My experience is, that it's easy to overfill, so the ink flows to easy.

      Absolutely, it's easy to overfill. I may do an addendum to this video but I dilute with both alcohol or water, depending on how thick and type of the ink I use to fill. Using alcohol with dry the nib out faster but does work wonders to soften an already dried out pen. Good luck and thanks for tuning in! :) I appreciate you!

      Hey Tarek! I haven’t used Uniball Micro’s as much but they use a gel type ink for their pens. The ink is water based but it is a miraculous type ink. It’s thick like a... well, gel, but goes on thin on paper. You may have to buy an ink refill for it since I don’t really have a hack for gel ink at the moment. But I will look into it! Thanks! Hi! I have one question, I have some rotring radiographs that I used before for drawing manga but now that I want to use them again I want to know if the winsor and newton black india ink is adequate for refilling them? Thanks!!!

    • @PopMhanComix
      @PopMhanComix  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching! The Rotrings are a finicky bunch. Due to the hole in the opening that is very susceptible to drying out and not the core and felt nibs that markers have that make the Rotrings trickier to refill. The Winsor Newton should work fine provided 1) You water down the ink enough so there's a decent flow to the paper from the nib and the ink isn't too diluted. 2) That you clean the pen right after you use it. (You should do that anyways) but it's especially vital if you are not using the Rotring brand ink. Hope that answers your question. Hit me up if it's not clear or if you have any other questions! Thanks!

I also thought about dilute it with water but I've never done it before so I'm pretty much lost about it :( it would be amazing if you could explain it to me. And finally yes! @@tobukobuta A pleasure to answer questions! Now, please be advised, these are only my opinions and it's always better to use the brand name inks to refill the pen its meant for.
      That said, diluting ink isn't too hard if you're careful. If you have a smaller bottle of ink, separate some ink out and add one or two drops of water into that bottle and test the consistency on a sheet of paper. If the ink is still dark and thick, add more drops of water until you get a decent mix of dark and runny ink. You'll have to experiment yourself to see which you like working with. But in general, my hunch is 6:1 ratio ink to water. Six drops of ink per one drop of water. Let me know if this ratio works for you!
      Side note - runny ink won't damage your pen. Dried ink will clog and potentially damage your pen. Maybe I'll do a life hack to fix that as well in a future video

      I haven't yet, myself but if the viscosity isn't too thick then I say - why not? A note though, Pilot ink runs a bit blue when diluted. You might want to do a quick dilution test to see what the pigment color is for that Pilot ink before trying it out. Good luck! And thanks for commenting!

    • @PopMhanComix
      @PopMhanComix  2 роки тому +1

      @@cherylbormann3429 I don't know if I have a preference between the two but you have to do different things with them to use them in the Pigmas. A fountain pen's ink will already by diluted and as such, it would be a bit runny. If you could leave it to air dry a bit before fill your pen with it would be ideal. Maybe a day or two should suffice. For a dip pen ink, I'd cut it with a bit of water before filling. :)

    • @PopMhanComix
      @PopMhanComix  3 роки тому +2

      Dr Ph Bombay is actually one of the better choices for refill ink. It's not as dark as some of the other "Premium" inks without first leaving it with the cap open for a couple of days, so it's a great choice for refilling Microns. Again, be aware that any ink you use will eventually clog the the felt nib due to the pigment of the ink, so it's a balancing game of viscosity versus flow versus maintaining the life of the felt nib and core. Maybe I'll do a how to bring your nib back to life again next. :)
