Word of caution: when making stuff like the spaghetti squash or the meat, place it on the trivet that comes with the machine and also add at least 1 cup of water or broth. It's best to avoid putting anything directly into the bottom of the pot, as it could end up scorching while cooking :)
Buy extra pots for the Instant Pot and it gets even better. I do pulled chicken in one pot, take it off and cover and get another pot out for the rice. Saves so much space in the fridge AND dishes!
Learnt a cool trick/hack recently. Did you know if you cook your chicken about 1/2 - 1/3 of the way, then sit the trivet inside the pot, sit a heatproof bowl on the trivet and add equal parts rice and water, then continue the cook you can cook your rice right in the instant pot at the same time, brilliant! :) Use 1/2 cup of rice to get 1 1/2 cups cooked for example, meal in one! :)

The Instant Pot makes perfect hard boiled eggs every time(6 minutes)....It makes great spaghetti squash every time (7 minutes)....It makes the fluffiest quinoa every single time(1 minute)....It makes amazing chicken wings(12 minutes) and awsome taco fixins'(10 minutes)...Pulled pork in a fraction of the time it takes in a slow cooker(45 minutes to 1 hour)....I love my Instant Pot
Cédric Olmanst I have a regular pressure cooker and an instant pot, the instant pot works a lot more efficiently than my stove top pressure cooker. You’re hating on it because everything she made can be made without the instant pot, but instant pot makes everything faster or easier.
@@uzzieb9984 Ok, let's take one of the recipes in the video then: the shrimps. How is frying them in a (sticky) Instant Pot easier than in a non-stick pan on the stove? In the pan, you have proper temperature control, and it doesn't stick. What are the benefits of doing this in the instant pot?
When making gravy, I use my blender bottle to mix up the flour and COLD water. It keeps it from getting lumpy. Adding straight flour results in clumps of raw flour pocketing into little balls in the gravy.
I didn't get the Instant Pot hype untill my sister-in-law gave me one over the holidays and I can say it's quite awesome and useful. Got over my fear of pressure cooking because the instant pot just make it so easy. It's great for making stock and cooking big chunks of meat like shown in the video 😁

Shredded Chicken Tacos - 4:57. The instant pot display showed "burn" warning. After taking the normal precautions, I transferred the contents into another container. Scrubbed the burnt layer from the pot, added 3/4 cup of water then returned the chicken mixture back in and started over again. It was watery when done but extremely flavorful - great tacos. Would definitely make this again.
It looks like an instant pot would be great for someone who doesn't have a stove or a full kitchen. Otherwise, I don't really see the appeal of sautéing in the pot and then having to take the food out and wash the pot before the next step in the meal prep process. However, it looks like it can slow cook as well as pressure cook (is that right?), so that is a very useful feature.
I made the spaghetti squash and shrimp. It was good but it didn't say anything about adding water. I added about half a cup but I still got a burn error message. After I added a full cup it was fine.
I know this is going to sound crazy, but most chefs will tell you chicken stock/broth makes beef taste beefier. Ever since I learned this, I rarely ever use beef broth when braising beef. Chicken broth provides a much richer beef flavor. Try it some time and you'll thank me for that little tip.
wow thx. haven't even watched and I already appreciate the vid is less than 6 mins!! I just keep seeing vids that are 30 - 60 mins just to show a few recipes.
It's strange to see fried rice made with freshly cooked rice. The few times I make it at home, I do it with rice that I made yesterday. This way is probably how it is made more often though.
In my opinion if you're frying food you cant really call it an instant pot recipe. Its just a recipe. Btw shrimp cooks beautiful from frozen with 1 min of pressure or 0 min of pressure cooking if it wasn't frozen.
In india, its called a "cooker" quite famous here. Quick for every For boiling or softening. And cooking, ofcourse. Comes in various sizes and materials.
I have a very nice crock pot which I use occasionally. Husband likes his pressure cooker. BUT - we would save lots of cupboard space if we only had one pot instead of two. Also save lots of cleanup from spattering sauté and fried foods which gets all over the outsides of other pots on the stove and range top as well. I’m going to get one of these!!
Shrimps are ruined when peeled before cooking, becoming a gummy water logged mess, no matter how expensive or fancy they were. Always cook with shells on, especially since most of the flavor is in the shell and also allow the shrimp to stay compact and meaty exactly like properly steam lobster tail. For best results, use non ez-peel whole shrimps with head on; they're far less expensive at $3/lb for 31-40 farm raised whites at the local Walmart or cultural grocery store. You can easily devein them using tweezers from under the shell right behind the neck. Once boiled, steamed, grilled or sautéed; peel and de-head. Then, puree the heads and re-boil the shells with the puree, simmer until shells are almost translucent. Strain for a wonderful shrimp stock, or continue reduction before straining for a luxurious shrimp bouillabaisse.
I just got a Crock Pot brand of one of these, did chuck roast tonight in 35 minutes which is the starting Meat setting time, I think it was done in 25-30. 50 minutes would have murdered it. I did pork shoulder yesterday for 60 minutes and it was way over cooked. I don't think cleaning the pot and cooking sides really works either, how do you have everything done at the same time?
I have a pressure cooker and its great for making roast and meats because they come out more tender and quicker especially roast, and I can cook the potatoes in there too and they cook more evenly then my crockpot, but doing EVERYTHING in the instapot wastes time and doesn't allow the food to be done at the same time.
I tried to make this fried rice today and the rice started burning the bottom, but didn't cook well enough. Not sure what happened. Anyone got any ideas of what could have been the reason? This was my second recipe with the instapot! I have the ultra, perhaps more powerful than the one used here and 24m was just too much time? That's my only guess so far. I was able to somewhat save it by using the recipe booklet instructions on cooking brown rice.
Excellent video. Nice job. Thank you. The instant pot is a time machine, just speeds things up like beans or wheat berries. It's like a garage door opener or microwave, a luxury but what a wonderful luxury if you can afford it. Excellent rice cooker to. I love my instant pot. Great for chicken broth on the bone. Necessary? No. Eat all food raw. Nice and luxurious? Yes.

you can make similar meals in a pan in 10 mins and only have one pan to wash once, whole meal is easy and fast to do, this pot mess was anything but easy, or fast.
So basically if you don't add salty broths to anything you put in it, it can't cook? Also when doing shrimp or steak, it's just left open like a pan on the stove or in the oven?
