@@adventurecrews sorry we missed you at happy hour. The Leopard Cats lady said you had to sign up for the party in advance.
Leopard is getting so much great press lately with these electric boats! See you in Annapolis! :)
I love that big open back platform when the dingy is not there. Thats lots of space.
What a great opportunity. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the honest review!!!! We friggin love you guys ❤️
I could never buy a Leopard Catamaran after watching UA-cam videos of Leopard owners who have experienced nightmare warranty issues with them. Looks like a buyer beware situation.
Agreed. Their treatment of their customers, post sale, is absolutely appalling. You really have to look beyond the "shiny" aspects of the boat(any boat), and pay attention to the customers that have problems and how they are treated. These boats, although pretty and well laid out, are essentially mass produced RVs for the charter market. Thus, their QC is seriously lacking.
Yep, the designs/layouts are generally nice. But the build quality is a crap shoot and the warranty service a disgrace.
Leapords built before they took investor money and focused on quantity not quality are good boats. Anything built after is purchased at your own risk and protracted inconvenience.
Great tour. Yes I agree, The guest bath area could be bigger. The Port Hull Podcast room is goals. I would gut out the cabinet space and make it a true podcast room with space to move around and truely set it up
Beautiful boat. Hope to see both you and the 46 in Annapolis!
Great (honest) tour of a beautiful boat you two! Nice PR for Leopard. Hope to see more!
Hmm, to be honest I'm extremely cautious of Leopard catamarans, to say they have had bad press over the last few years is a massive understatement.
Ignoring that, 1600w solar is no where near enough, seriously. Unless it's a plug and play boat as in keep in plugged in to mains power to charge overnight and only ever use it for day sailing and an occasional weekend break, then it's fine.
As a cruiser, well it's just not. You'd have your generator on every day for hours on end and when it breaks down, which they often do, you'd be royally screwed.
As a coastal day sailer its ok, the electric side of it is more of a novelty than an actual solution, hense the full size fuel tanks, there's a hint LOL.
Can't wait to see you guys in Annapolis. Hopefully this time next year we be at there at show on our own Leopard!
Ditch the fly bridge .. add solar over the whole roof ..get the mainsail boom down lower . The stairway next to the sink washer seems to be tempting an accident.
A Li-Ion battery in salt water would scare me to death. Thanks for the video! Amazing drone footage!
Yes, I just watched a news report after the hurricane of a Tesla in a garage burst into flames when it came in contact with salt water.
@@Stuart123is it possible that they design and build marine batteries to be emmersed for extended periods in salt water and that they don't design and build car batteries to be emmersed for extended periods in salt water?
@@AdeboFunkyVoodoo that’s a really interesting question, maybe they do.
@@AdeboFunkyVoodoo
They are sealed and they shut down dead if they internally or externally short at the connector.
Plus new Iron or Magnesium ...will increase safety reduce cost and increase capacity and lifespans..
Compare these with the Windelo's...Who are next level.
If you slow down 5-6kn you increase your battery power range by hours..
It's all about the comfort.... No mention of actual quality or lack of, construction methods, or sailing ability!! But having batteries in the stern and a massive genset 2m. from the bow would suggest weight placement was not a priority. This boat will make a great charter/party boat but definitely dangerous for blue water sailing.... Leopard have a massive amount of work to do it they want to rebuild their shattered reputation. They need to start with better design and quality control during construction.
Great video and lots of info. Take care and be safe ❤
I just watched the Dominican video. Great job of going the extra mile of capturing the local life and culture.
Suggestion: you two would be postal children for the language apps such as Babel similar . I am sure they would be interested in sponsorship if you guys were serious about learning Spanish or another language. The are other language apps that would work with you as well if Babel was not interested
Thank you so much! We would love to work with them or similar apps. I (Emily) currently have a Duo Lingo streak of 150 days. If you have any contacts please send them our way! Hello@theadventurecrews.com
Hope to see you guys at the boat show -- Susan & Mike.
HEY GUYS, IT'S TONY UR UBER DRIVER AKA "DAYLIGHT DC FAMILY"!!!
Hey Tony!!! So great to meet you my friend!!
Would love Leopard to compete with silent yachts and make an all solar/electric cat.
Will see you in Annapolis! L42 owners
See you in Annapolis
Amaizing🎉
Hey quick question isn’t it bad for saltwater and battery’s 🔋 to mix ?
it is, thus they are in a waterproof box
Is that the battery box right above the saildrive? Mmmm I'm not liking that battery location. Those rudder posts are notorious for leaking. Don't like battery being right underneath it. Wish they mounted them higher. Or across the bridgedeck between the scoops. I mean, i GET IT. use of space that the engine took up. But too many leaky things in the engine compartments...
And then you could build a pretty bulletproof watertight box for them to go in, but then the temps will be higher in the batteries.
I dunno... I'm skeptical. I'd have to see it in person 😅
The batteries are in a waterproof box
@@adventurecrews Ehhh I just don't trust that. And if it's water tight it's air tight. Lots of heat.
Not that I can afford a new boat anyway 🤣
It's very cool nontheless!
Fun fact: Lagoon 440 originally had a hybrid drive all the way back in 2004, complete with regen from props. Our generator compartment is MASSIVE because it was designed to fit up to a 24kw genset because of the hybrid drive. But it just never worked right. They just didn't have the battery tech we have cheaply available today. They were probably using the Nimh batteries and those things just don't work as well as lithium. Rumor is nobody ever bought them, and the few "demo boats" were gutted and replaced with yanmar/volvo engines.
So nice to see we're coming back around to some of this tech FINALLY.
Love TN. My wife family comes from Piney Flat, Tn
Is there a support for the pans while cooking?
Yes there is a cover to go over the glass top that will not allow the pans to slide off.
What is the MSRP?
Could you please share the sea sickness medication you take to help you? Thanks
This works wonders for me! amzn.to/4eLVCON
Thanks so much
Sunreefs are superior.
For lounging on but not for sailing.
Big question did you buy it?...lol
Yeah ! Emily wants that boat,,,,
Is this Bobby’s boat?
No. His is an Island Spirit. Still in Thailand or in transit to the US.
😎
"8 kilowatts" to push that big of a boat at 6 knots???? If you cruise at that rate for an hour, then 8kw hours of total power would be consumed, which at land prices of 20 cents per kilowatt hour would be about $1.60 per hour. This seems impossibly cheap. What am I missing?
200k extra upfront over the standard diesel engines
