As someone who plays a lot of psyker - and a lot of purge staff psyker - having 60 warp resistance and even Empyric Resolve is viable in high havoc. With one or both, you can keep flames up nearly constantly. This is nice for several reasons: (1) The purge staff fire rate is high, which means you still get plenty of crits if you keep firing; high peril is not as necessary since you are not using venting shriek. (2) Being able to keep 15 warpfire stacks on everything, constantly, because you can keep firing is a big advantage. (3) Higher warp resist and/or Empyric Resolve help prevent exploding from Perils of the Warp (cough, 13:40 - been there too); the only downside (admittedly a big one) is the lower toughness regen from Empyric. Still worth it in high havoc if you can avoid the damage. (4) High havoc lowers quell speed, so the more you can fire before quelling, the more you can be fighting and not vulnerable. Purge staff crits also apply 2 warpfire stacks instead of 1, which is nice.
Thanks so much for this Mr. E, I recently started playing Havoc as a bubble shield/flame staff Psyker, it’s been fun but a definite challenge. Will listen to this while I’m finishing work today, then try it out when I get home!
The god emperor himself bestowed upon me the perfect god roll Flamestorm Staff. (Yes, I know it's called Inferno Force Staff in Darktide) 400 Power - 80 Damage, 80 Burn, 80 Cloud Radius, 64 Quell Speed, 17 Warp Resistance. My due diligence of being a Sienna main since V1 (~150 hours) and V2 (~4,250 hours) plus 260 hours of Psyker only in Darktide have been rewarded. Only started playing Darktide about a month and a half ago or I would probably have more time but I have completed Havoc 40 three times now with this exact build shown in the video. I even use the same exact perks/blessings on my dueling sword and Inferno Force Staff that were shown in the video.
@@level12lobster8 nice, i recently got a 340 - 48dmg, 76 burn, 80 cloud, 80quell, 3 warp res staff. debating whether i wanna push further or not currently.
Been running a build much like this yeah, its a pretty fun more support and teamplay oriented build. Too many "meta builds" are just pure solo power and not playing around the team, and at least for me well coordinated and synergized teamplay is what really fires up my neurons in this game. Besides the core combat gameplay that is.
big fan of you showing off this build. Ive been running the flame staff for the last few days and just like the bubble, it really shows its power while being used in higher difficulties. The only downside of the flame staff is that it obscures so much of the screen. Is there a mod that lets you turn down the opacity of the flames? I have been using the "I Wanna See" mod but dont like that it completely removes the flames so i cant see the area of effect.
Only 1 psyker burn staff /groupe. the burn damages doesn't stack apparently if more than 1. + I prefer to be able to spam my burn staff,, even if im not high peril, i consider using it more = more damage=more stagger Good video ^^ been using a similar build for havoc. Carries
Sacrifice the last 6th warp charge for another perk. You hitting 6warp charges means you either want the +4% damage from each charge or you want drop it all to get extra cool of on a shield timer that’s already pretty quick, you want damage in higher levels, switch this to combustion, warp, or one of the toughness perks, it sounds great to have a marginal increase in cooldown but ur a shield already, you want to kill enemies more not wait for them to overwhelm you.
Quick question is losing out on like 2% toughness noticeable? I’ve even been trying to get that perfect 17% toughness roll on two curios for my Veteran, but at this point I think I should just settle for my two 16% toughness ones.
Lately, on EU servers it's something of a challenge to find a psyker who isn't just spamming his lightning staff cheat (or whatever excuse they use to call it) to outright destroy any enjoyment one can get from the match.
I have only encountered one player who used the quell cancelling bug, and i told him that while it is cool, i really dont want to play with that on my team. Really ruins the experience for everyone.
Thanks for the vid and the build. I always appreciate them. Also, what's the name of the mod that shows the radius of fire barrel explosions and poxburster bursts and such?
I use a staff with quell speed as dunp stat for havoc. I feel like im able to keep my peril high for longer without having to worry about blowing myself uo every 2 seconds
Either duelling sword needs a nerf or all the other melee weapons need serious buff because its literally the best weapon by far and it overshadows the rest of the weapons, i am in favor of buffing the others tho
Hey I keep seeing people lock on to an enemy with brain burst for literally half a second then do a complete 180 and still be able to attack them, when I try it breaks the channeling as soon as I'm not aiming at them. Is it a tech I don't know or a PC only thing I'm genuinely confused how people keep doing it?
At least on PC the brainburst stays locked unto a target as soon as you start charging it on them no matter what else you do as long as you keep charging the brainburst.
i dont really understand havoc, it feels like u have to use certain meta build and comp to stand a chance. Renovative build usually end up wiped except when players r good
Is that definitely true? I can chain dodge slides fine (on PS5) but I can't get the heavy attack during slide to give it more speed/momentum. Does it just not work?
I play XBox so I can't advise on how well PS5 does things but as far as I know, I've slid and heavy attacked with the Dueling Blade to fun effect, but it wasn't often. What I'm referring to is how easy a keyboard can slide a toon in Darktide versus handheld controller; I've got to click the stick while sliding to get any traction, and keyboard doesn't have a halting stop- they keep running. I have to make the toon run again in order to keep up. It's annoying with the extra step and is kind of distracting.
Imo I personally find that bubble doesn’t help much outside of havok because of the crazy ass buff to shooters but I don’t find that it has as much use outside of havoc as venting shriek and scriers gaze
Even if you are good at the game and thus are good at not taking damage in melee combat, gunner lines is one of the things that can shred you in an instant if they show up at the wrong time and place.
@@Tyrgalon that is true but psyker has the kit to deal with that problem pretty effectively with empathic evasion + inferno staff just making you invulnerable to ranged and all of the staves being able to deal with shooters effectively
I really don't like this build and staff setup. i think crit is irrelevant and in fire reborn is not good. you can switch it to battle meditation, psychic vampire and empyric resolve. and wrap flurry for the staff.
It does sacrifice ult cooldown, but close to that same build with empowered psionics, BB is very viable, especially as a boss killer. Well rounded with kinetic resonance to slap out super fast BB's right after popping bubble. Also, it's not as popular of a choice, but that 2h force sword with riposte and deflector on it is quite clutch! Another empowered psionics match up is electrokinetic staff and smite, dont need 3 charges of EP for that build but would recommend overpowering souls for more consistency in empowered smite casts. Both do slow down that ult cast but on higher difficulty you are proccing psykinetic aura so often that it makes up for it. Give it a try! EP is the unsung hero of the psyker tree imo. If utilized correctly it is insanely useful.
nice, but yesterday i use smite+bubble build for 40 havoc and it was fun - full map just stuck and boys relax mostly time, only on bosses need teamplay)
Smite is solely for teamplay or an oh crap button to cc freeze crusher/bulwark/rager/trapper/shotgunner/gunner/hound pack...any pack other than a pack of bosses. Smite with -40% peril generation, double damage from EP=fields of cc death. When the entire fighting area is frozen in place while your teammates destroy all high value targets with ease. It does a ton more than 1 damage, that's for sure. Smite amuses me because people range from claiming it is useless. To outright getting mad because it makes the game too easy.
I was the zealot that got booted at the end and I can’t believe I got shafted out of this game but it was a pleasure playing with you
Fat shark servers are ran by a single skaven on a hamster wheel
@chocolatemuff111Honestly, I feel like that one Skaven would do much better at this

"If those enemies are not on fire you're not doing your job" LOL
Also great video I needed a build since I just maxed out Veteran and was gonna do Psyker next.
Sweet build, gives me something to try on Psyker. Side note, only reason you got gooped by the burgle during testing is because your shield popped.
Hey maybe you mentioned it and I missed it but critting with the purg staff also adds an additional burn stack, it's not just defensive benefits.
Im happy when a psyker runs sheild, the silly billy guy said it was bad but most of us cant not get shot

Factorio music on a Darktide video is quite the contrast
You can perma stagger ragers with the left click

Any plans to do another FGS build? I feel like your last vid on it wasn’t that good all in all.

The hades ost is glorius
Why are you even playing darktide? You could be watching the 1943 classic American film Casablanca right now

16% toughness is fine
you posted this so quickly man jebus. i was the vet

use the attack key instead of the charge key, it will only start when it is locked on an enemy.
Never use the alt fire charge, it's slow and doesn't lock until it's full.
Make an electric staff build please
Already got one up from a while back
Is this what i saw you working on yesterday 😂 sorry for the invite if that was the case
i think that was a previous take, yah lol
@ my fault big E🙏

Console can't slide like PC can to maintain speed, so there are sprint boosts instead of stamina boosts on curios.

Vent is good with staffs while gaze is good on melee/gun builds.
