That hotel book sounds great. I used to work as a room attendant (chamber maid sounds so posh for what the job actually is) so very interested in that one. Hope you feel better soon, sending big hugs from Australia.😘
Sophie Calle is incroyable!! I once went to an exhibit of hers in San Francisco that was almost a retrospective. Her work deals deeply with the human condition. I'm always brought to tears with her writings and observations. Hope you enjoy The Hotel! ✨💛
Well, I`m reading The Secret History since I`ve started watching this video a week ago. When you said about Tartt`s voice I decided to find and check it - this is how I got sucked into an audiobook) Love it!
i don't think anyone has had covid that is quite this chic??? it is proving difficult to get my hands on any anne carson at the moment but you have absolutely set my heart on reading her! i really hope you get as much joy and inspiration from funny weather as i did - the best essay collection x
Sorry to hear you have succumbed to the Rona again.. how ironic that you picked up the Hotel Book. And at least you have a ton of reading material. Speedy recovery! x
I hope you recover quickly! I love Sophie Calle and Agnes Martin. I have the Calle book “Take Care of Yourself” and return to it a lot through the years. Saw Martin’s work at the Guggenheim a few years ago and it was my intro to her. At the risk of seeming like a shameless plug … I’m vlogging myself as I struggle (and enjoy) reading some contemporary poetry, thought you might be interested. Cheers, Eleanor.
Sorry to hear about the Covid intrusion ;( hopefully it didn't effect your work too much! I have a new obsession with Anne Carson too! Have you read Red Doc> yet? I actually liked it a little more than The Autobiography of Red ;) I recently found Plainsong in a bookstore too and also almost cried when I found it haha, its so rare to just stumble across one of her books in Australia. I loved The Secret History, and I totally agree with you that it so perfectly paced. I read The Goldfinch a few years ago an it was definitely not as well paced. Get well soon x
Have you read Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl? Has a similar feel and set-up to Secret History. My audiobook hold of Pure Colour just came through this morning, so I'll probably be listening to it in the coming week.
I'm so glad I stumbled on your channel since I love books and arts ☺️📖
Really enjoyed this vlog! I think the being stuck in a hotel added to it! Siân ❤️

Good to see you. Thanks for this. Get better soon 😊
I absolutely loved Pure Colour. Definitely my favorite book I've read this year so far. Hope you feel better soon!

Sorry you got the Rona again but being confined to a hotel room with only books is something I would love right now. 💜
I lately read The Address Book by Sophie Calle and it gave me a lot to think about. Would definitely recommend it!

I will look into the Pessl, thank you! Can’t wait to talk with you about Pure Colour.
@@benjaminjournal also, btw, since I'm officially a Laing completist, I recommend every other book she's written if you like Funny Weather!
