  • Usapang Wika is a cultural documentary series featuring the major languages of the Philippines. The show aims to give the viewers a glimpse of the richness and depth of each language through the sharing of our respective experts as well as slice of life vignettes featuring the native speakers of each.
    In this episode, we learn about the history of the Bikolano language, how its location influenced the development and growth of the language, and how its trademark “spiciness” also comes out in their words.

    The many ways to say "why" in coastal bikol
    Daet (tagalog influenced) - Bakin
    Naga - Ta'no ta
    Canaman - Taono ta
    Partido (i think) - Tadaw ta
    Legazpi-Tobaco-Ligao area (Inland bikol influenced) - Nata
    Somebody correct me on the taono and tadaw parts i feel like i reversed them
