Unforgiven climax re-edited

Unforgiven won the best editing Oscar in 1992, but as a film editor, I've always had problems with several scenes. What I call "reflexive editing" is when there are plenty of cuts, but the shots are not pushing the narrative forward. By removing, rearranging shots, and overlaying the dialogue over others, we've smoothed the scene out, and tried made it more like George Stevens' SHANE, the film Unforgiven is modeled after.
