Interesting fact: Originally, Ken Watanabe's was suppose to say "We call him..Godzilla."
but, Watanabe felt it was more proper for his character (who is Japanese)
to refer to Godzilla (a Japanese monster) by his original name of "Gojira."

@@nonspiderwebYeah... But... Why don't they just call the whole movie Gojira? Well, in the script and in the lines it said Godzilla... And generally this name can be a little difficult to pronounce for someone is a native English speaker, if it were other languages, like Portuguese or Spanish, it would be easier to speak 'Gojira', or if it were Japanese... But the movie is a Reboot... made us United States... So there would be no way to avoid putting the United States of America... It's even funny that the misfortune of the incident with the monsters, when they emerge after fifteen years, and in Japan, but the US military is going to try to solve it... WTF... Does that make sense? Not a bit, maybe if Japan later asked other countries for help, but no, on the s The next thing that happened is the Americans... Hahahahaha. Anyway, there was an inconsistency there in the film.

"From an age when the earth was ten times more radioactive than it is today". The only era on earth that this was possible was during the Permian. If this is correct, Godzilla is over 250 million years old. He survived the Permian extiction (during which his species evolved), the KT mass extinction 65 million years ago, several Ice Ages over the last million years, and WW2, all the while feeding on radiation like nobodys buisness. Godzilla dodged some major bullets.

You know, Monarch seems like an organization that knows how to save wildlife by studying the biology of every titan they discover and understanding why they have originated on Earth before humans began killing off animal species into today's world. Every time I see Godzilla: King of the Monsters, I get very annoyed with the fact that a lot of people, including the US government, are in favor of making Monarch held accountable, putting it under military jurisdiction and killing off the titans. Godzilla is both proof and the key to coexistence, and Serizawa is my favorite character because his admiration for Godzilla and the titans is well shown in this movie and KOTM

    • @Godzillakingofkaiju1

I kinda prefer Godzilla 2014 over Shin Godzilla. I'm sorry, but Shin Godzilla just felt kinda alienating as it was intended more for a Japanese audience and it came off as boring. This was a traditional Godzilla movie with a Hollywood style budget as well as a love and respect for the franchise and I can't wait for Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong to come out in the coming years.

Western audiences dislike Shin because it was a critique to the Japanese government on how they mishandle the 2011 Fukushima/Tsunami disaster. I think it was only for the japanese audiences.

It's interesting how we view godzilla from different perspectives. When I first saw godzilla, I saw him as a large destructive dinosaur with the simple goal to destroy anything that gets in his way, a primal force of nature bound to nothing but pure animal instinct. However, after I watched the original film from 1954, I learned that godzilla or Gojira, was a spiritual representation of nuclear destruction. Since then, godzilla was developed into either a protagonist or an antagonist depending on how people see him. And now today, there are people who say they don't like shin godzilla and prefer legendary godzilla? Sometimes, people need to take a moment to look at why monster characters are created in the first place and what they mean to the creator.

There's a theory where at some point things that normal organisms need to thrive on will not even be necessary to shin. He could destroy the entire earth given enough time.

Not to mention what the future holds for Monarch to uncover as after all, Godzilla and Kong are not the only giants. I can't wait to see Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah make their debuts next year. Hell there's even official art showing that Godzilla did have other species like him, until the bomb destroyed his home, killed off the rest of his kind, and burned his skin.
