I've got an interesting thought for a challenge. Emerald with only one Smeargle. I imagine trying to turn that first Sketch into something is gonna be a pain in the ass, since you're bound to outspeed most things on the first couple routes. Even then, your best bet is going to be tackle in terms of moves, but that's assuming you won't immediately outspeed most Pokemon you come across for most of the first part of the game.

@@jamesdinius7769 Yeah. Half of Lance's team was too low of a level. Not to mention how in Generation 1, one of his Dragonites knows Barrier, which it can't actually learn, and in Generation 2, his Aerodactyl knows Rock Slide, which, for some reason, it couldn't learn until Generation 3.

In honor to wrestling, I think a "underdog" challenge would be fun to do and watch. Any gen you want, one fighting type pokémon, must always be at a lower or same level than next gym's srongest pokemon. After winning, change the pokémon, since the winner is not an underdog anymore. Gen V would probably be the easiest because it has the most pokémon to choose from and reusable TMs.

Fun fact: when I first got Pokémon black I was kind of a little dumb dumb baby. So after I got Moona (idk if that’s how you spell it) I had no idea what to do next. I didn’t even know where the normal type gym leader was. So I literally stayed in the same spot and battled wild Pokémon until Moona was level 40-something. It was only until I accidentally walked into the normal gym that I realized that I was supposed to be fighting that gym the whole time...I could’ve just searched up what to do next but also it had been straight up months of me just playing the same part over and over so I had no memory of what happened last in the game. Also I was a dumb dumb baby as said earlier so I probably didn’t think of that. All I remember after that was soon after I beat the second gym I reset the game....all that grind gone to waste :( (Also if you’re wondering why Moona was a high level and not my starter it’s because I was also grinding the same place eith my starter until they got into their 30s (enough to evolve) and my older brother saw this and scolded me. He told me I should also shave experience with my other Pokémon so I guess I took this as my other Pokémon must be higher leveled than my starter 🤷🏻♀️)
WaterDraw I don’t understand how people got lost and “accidentally” got their starter up to like level 40 super early on. I was 8 when I played my first Pokémon game and I sucked at it, but I didn’t have a level 40 Samurott but the time I beat Roxie
When pokemon Soul Silver came out I was pretty young and did the exact same thing next to the whirl islands trying to find my way to Chuck's gym. By the time I found his gym I had a lvl 70 Typhlosion and an Arbok around lvl 50. But everything else on my team were in their early to mid 20s. :/
Tbh when I first played black as a kid. I stupidly released my starter and my highest level pokemon were like a Lv 50 Basculin and stoutland, I was also stuck cause iirc after beating the 7th gym or climbing the tower, you get a call to go back to Lenora Gym (forgot the town name) but since i was an idiot, I went to the wrong town and was practically stuck cause I didn't which town I had to go to, after that I reseted the game
Jackb450 mine was soul silver and didn’t understand the importance of type coverage so I tried to fight red with only a level 89 feraligatr and like level 20-40 other team members I randomly caught

Wow, pokerus! It's so incredibly rare I only had it happen to me *once* when I caught my first Ralts on my first playthrough of Emerald. I didn't even know what pokerus was, but years later I found out it's like four times rarer than finding a shiny and it still amazes me that I found pokerus in the wild before ever finding my first shiny lol

Commenting while this is premiering: I want to say a few things. One, it really does suck that the premiere kinda... was a catastrophe, but I'm going to make sure to rewatch this once the premier is over, to get the full experience. Two, thank you for dedicating a MONTH to challenges like these - it's really entertaining, watching these challenges, and it's what introduced me to your channel, and all your other content, which is why I'm subscribed now :P Three, did you know that comments are good for the youtube algorithm? On that note, hey, My-Dye-Board, what fossil did you pick? Four, for all those people in the premiere chat: I have this *epic* challenge idea- DONT do Gen 4 with just one Gible. Like, seriously, do a challenge where you use literally anything *but* Gible, and title it something like "Can I Beat Pokemon Platinum WITHOUT 1 Gible?" Just to stick it to all the people spamming for you to do a gen 4 Gible run. I really hope this premiere doesn't ruin your day or anything (or the chat, for that matter), and I hope you have a nice day. Post-rewatch edit: I do quite like the text thing - smooth, sharp, sleek. Gotta say, that final battle was quite impressive to watch. I know a big bit of it was luck, with the freezes, but it was still incredibly cool to see this dumb lil monkey freeze a giant dragon. Nice job! I have to admit, I'm a bit confused as to why you replaced the fire starter with Panpour, instead of the water starter. Is there any importance to getting Pansage earlier? Love the video, MDB-Dice-Bard!
My best friend met Heath Slater at a local mall. He said Slater gave the old look around to make sure no one was watching and put on some cologne then put it back on the shelf. My love for Slater grew three sizes that day.

He can get it done since the three of them too together provide good type coverage. Obviously grinding will be a nightmare but that’s always the case with gen 5 videos. Anyway here’s my challenges: Pokemon Gold using only Chikorita (I think everyone agrees that chikorita is the worst starter in gen 2) Pokemon Emerald using only magcargo (it’s basically the abomasnow challenge in a region more designed to kick its ass) Pokemon emerald using only normal type moves except hidden power, metronome or assist. (I think it could be interesting. Also for anyone who brings up ghost types, both foresight and odor sleuth are things) Pokemon Heartgold using only a sunkern (a sequel to a previous challenge and to really see if Pokemon has gotten easier as time has gone on) Pokemon Black using only 1 Pikachu (lost a bet) Pokemon black 2 and white 2 challenge mode using only first form bug Pokemon (bit of a sequel of an earlier video) Pokemon X or Y using only route 2 Pokemon (I lost a bet on a previous challenge so I’m obligated) And here’s some mystery dungeon challenges to spice things up: Pokemon super mystery dungeon without using items (as someone who didn’t know you could use certain items in boss fights until the second to last boss, believe me, this can be brutal) Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of time darkness or sky while having all party member set to “get away from here” (basically having to play the game with an unusable partner and always having the chance of failing If they are KO’d) Pokemon mystery dungeon blue or red rescue team without using moves (chose this game since it seemed the hardest while remaining fair as in some of the later games the A attack only does a fixed 5 damage).
When Gen 5 came out I was 10, and got it new for christmas, loved it, but I never had a problem with grinding level ( I think my older brother was playing at night and grinding to get the levels up so i would have fun playing the game) but when I was like 13 I got white 2, and man, I never finished that one because of the grind taking so long
@@user-tj6vq9rt8z okay fair. For me at least I like to have a blind run using only new Pokemon from a game, after beating elite 4 and champ I transfer pokemon.

since your playing on an emulator, their is an action replay code that makes it so when holding L, shakign grass spawns after like 2-3 steps. That could SEVERELY cutdown on the sheer tedium involved in gen 5 challenges, since audino is the best grinding method, the issue being shaking grass's infrequency. and its ONLY a tedium reducer; doesn't provide any gameplay benefit outside of reducing the total time required to overlevel, which as stated is pretty necessary. Or just revert to the old xp system using the randomizer hack. It would just make gen 5's challenges take less time to produce, bringing them more in like with 1-4, whcih i think is fair, since we're in these for reasons other than 'how much time did he spend mindlessly grinding,' (wobbuffet challenge aside).

24:18 "and fourth is the terrifying pseudo-legendary Hydreigon, the latest evolving Pokemon by level."
Not that it matters that much when the one you're fighting is 10 levels lower than it should be.
Final bosses seem to have a nasty habit of doing that. Remember Lance's Dragonites?
@@jamesdinius7769 Yeah. Half of Lance's team was too low of a level. Not to mention how in Generation 1, one of his Dragonites knows Barrier, which it can't actually learn, and in Generation 2, his Aerodactyl knows Rock Slide, which, for some reason, it couldn't learn until Generation 3.

Any gen you want, one fighting type pokémon, must always be at a lower or same level than next gym's srongest pokemon.
After winning, change the pokémon, since the winner is not an underdog anymore.

A challenge I’d LOVE to see you attempt would be beating Pokémon Heartgold without spending money, so no buying potions or healing items, and you’d only be able to catch Pokémon with your five starting Pokeballs and whatever you can find scattered throughout the map, I think it would present an interesting challenge, especially since it’ll be harder to heal your team between Pokémon league fights, since there’s only so many healing items you can find naturally in the game, aside from that challenge request, I love your channel, and I’m amazed you’ve kept this up as long as you have, great work MDB! All I remember after that was soon after I beat the second gym I reset the game....all that grind gone to waste :(
(Also if you’re wondering why Moona was a high level and not my starter it’s because I was also grinding the same place eith my starter until they got into their 30s (enough to evolve) and my older brother saw this and scolded me.
Vincent Kent Damn, that’s wild lmao

He can get it done since the three of them too together provide good type coverage. Obviously grinding will be a nightmare but that’s always the case with gen 5 videos.
Anyway here’s my challenges:
Pokemon Gold using only Chikorita (I think everyone agrees that chikorita is the worst starter in gen 2)
Pokemon Emerald using only magcargo (it’s basically the abomasnow challenge in a region more designed to kick its ass)
Pokemon emerald using only normal type moves except hidden power, metronome or assist. (I think it could be interesting. Also for anyone who brings up ghost types, both foresight and odor sleuth are things)
Pokemon Heartgold using only a sunkern (a sequel to a previous challenge and to really see if Pokemon has gotten easier as time has gone on)
Pokemon Black using only 1 Pikachu (lost a bet)
Pokemon black 2 and white 2 challenge mode using only first form bug Pokemon (bit of a sequel of an earlier video)
Pokemon X or Y using only route 2 Pokemon (I lost a bet on a previous challenge so I’m obligated)
And here’s some mystery dungeon challenges to spice things up:
Pokemon super mystery dungeon without using items (as someone who didn’t know you could use certain items in boss fights until the second to last boss, believe me, this can be brutal)
Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers of time darkness or sky while having all party member set to “get away from here” (basically having to play the game with an unusable partner and always having the chance of failing If they are KO’d)
Pokemon mystery dungeon blue or red rescue team without using moves (chose this game since it seemed the hardest while remaining fair as in some of the later games the A attack only does a fixed 5 damage).

since your playing on an emulator, their is an action replay code that makes it so when holding L, shakign grass spawns after like 2-3 steps.
