    The KTM has adjustable handlebar and rearset positions, you had the former in the back position and the latter in the front, those are the "street" settings ("supermoto" as you called them).
    For the track the handlebar should ideally be in the forward position to put more weight over the front and the rearsets in the back position for better cornering clearance and body position for the track. Great video otherwise.

    Triumph made great strides getting the Speed Triple to 436 lbs wet weight, it really feels like a Street Triple with more power. I own one and I completely agree that while the suspension may feel stiff on the street, it feels amazing at the track.

      As far as the horsepower deficit, I'm pretty sure a 1160cc engine is being held back significantly via emissions and sound regs. 177 hp and 92 ft-lb (crank) isn't coming out on their dyno. I'd expect about 158 hp and 82 ft-lb at the wheel.

      My current speedy 1050(in my pic) i modded to 193 hp and 91ft lb at the crank. Dyno'd at 181hp and 88.7 ft lb at the wheel. A little too much even by my standards and lol the ecu is not exactly factory spec. I had to get a third party warranty lol but she'll do 198mph. Verified by telemetry because the speedo is useless beyond 240 or 250 kph(150 to 155 mph) and being a naked, tuck all you want...you cant maintain higher speeds for too long. Mark is a great addition to the feedback, I can tell he's a very fast rider and engineering minded, very articulate and succinct in his feedback. He provides a nice counterpoint to Evans humbly referring to himself as the "mere mortal" among the group. Would have been interesting to hear from Ken in person, but he might just not like the new whiz-bang electronics.

      The only thing coming close to it, when it was released, was the 2008 Ducati streetfighter, at 155hp. The Tuono V4 smashed the market with a 170cv naked bike, when the other bikes except for ducati were barely making 130cv, like the triumph, the japanese ect. Before the SuperDuke the only thing that came close, but never on par, was the BMW a couple years later with the s1000r.

    I'm with Troy. I own a SDR 3.0 and absolutely love it. It's everything he stated and will make you giggle like a child on the street and track. So much useable power EVERYWHERE! I added BST carbon wheels and the KTM/Gilles rearsets and it feels "Ready to Race". I've ridden the Tuono Factory and SFV4S, and they're also top notch, with the edge going to the Ducati. It's really user friendly and easy to go fast on, which may be a bit detrimental to your license on the street, but worth the risk. I'd like to try the new Speed Triple. I like the character of that motor and being the lightest bike makes it intriguing. Great comparison, but I think Ken just hates electronics. He's old school!
    I see a lot of grumblings in the comments about the MT-10 not being included. The MT-10 SP weighs in at 467lbs and has 131 RWHP, which is far less HP than any in the test, but as much weight as some of the heavier contestants. And let's face it, the only reason the MV and Kawi were included is because one is the most exotic and expensive, and the other has a supercharger

    • @tylerross3847
      @tylerross3847 2 роки тому

      The 2021 MT10 has 160bhp and plenty of dynos showing ~150 to the rear wheel. Idk where you're getting "131rwhp" from, but if you don't like those bikes just say so.
      The MT10 SP consistently rank highly and usually finishes 2nd or 3rd in ratings for hyper naked shootouts. THAT is why people are grumbling that it is left out; it's because the MT10 is so good and usually finishes highly ranked among its peers. No, I don't own one so I am not biased but disregarding it so casually is just silly.

    • @crownmoto
      @crownmoto 2 роки тому +1

      @@tylerross3847 I don't know what charts you're citing, but no bike with 160BHP is putting 150HP down at the rear wheel. All the comparison dynos have it at 131RWHP consistently.
      I've ridden an MT10, and a SFV4S, a Tuono Factory, and I own a Super Duke. The MT10 is a fun bike, but it's not in the same class as the Ducati, KTM, or Aprilia. I'd argue that it's probably better and more fun than the BMW, and definitely a better all arounder than the Kawi and MV, but it's not top tier without engine, exhaust, ergo, and definitely suspension mods. It's also fugly as hell

    I love the 1290 Super Duke R. Owned one, and while its not a perfect bike, and it will occasionally try to murder you, it will do it while you're smiling... Its a fun bike that will get you smiling on the road, its docile enough around town, and fun on the canyons and on the track days I took it to. I think I had as much fun on the track with this as I did with the ZX-66Rs and R6 I owned and the R1M bike I owned. As for all KTM, recomend the ergo seat upgrade and an Akrapovic exhaust upgrade (may SC Project). BIke did good on few long range trips too. and that took few modifications. Again, Keep it naked for the track, daily use and canyon carving, but you add a windscreen, lugage, and maybe some handle guards, and you got a good tourer.

    Sorta wish the updated MT-10 joined fray. But alas.
    I think one of the greatest unspoken takeaways from these tests has been just how differently the guys scored these machines. A lot of that is the emotional agreement or conflict they produce. I guarantee if this same group of guys got together in 10 years with the same bikes (and a same fresh take), they outcome would change. And that's just how this is, a snapshot in each person's riding career and what appeals to each of us for various reasons. I'm quite glad there's variety. I'm glad there's stuff that is different enough to offer something for everyone. Objectively there's nothing any of these bikes is doing terrible, except the MV price. Hahahaha

      100% man. A few years ago neevesy with mcn was doing one of these and said "there are ONLY any complaints about any of these because they were ridden back to back. If anyone rides any of these in isolation they would walk away saying it's the greatest bike ever made".
      At this level, these are all just staggering achievements in engineering, all hobbled to a degree at least by emissions restrictions. I think they are all so close in performance that it comes down to minor individual preferences.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 2 роки тому +1

      @@nsparacino Takes a very intuitive experienced journalist to feel what the machine has inside it in terms of capability, whereas emissions and noise restrictions are holding them back. I've felt the contrast myself on a former new FZ1 I had completely tuned out all the restrictions. The difference was quite amazing, in terms of smooth progressive power, drastically reduced overall vibration, precise throttle control, much more safe and predictable behavior especially leaned over in corners. Not to mention the emotional thrill of hearing the engine with a more open exhaust.

      800-950cc class is where your dollars do the most. Above that is hugely diminishing returns. Find me a professional level rider on a set up 890 Duke R, a set up MT-09SP, a set up Z900 SE, a set up Monster and show me how these 20G bikes are just going to wipe the floor with those? Forward thrust is only ONE metric of evaluating all of the various dynamics of a bike. How do double the dollars improve the chassis, the brakes, the suspension, the engine character, the handling neutrality or stability, the way in which a bike talks to your butt/hands/feet around your favorite roads? Can another 10 grand make those other metrics twice as good? Three times as good? Is it worth paying another 10 grand for 30 or 40 more horsepower forward thrust that you'll access about 5% of the time, and the other 95% of the time pay the penalty in fuel consumption, insurance, and theft desirability?
      Stuff to consider. How will you feel when a Ninja 400 blows by you on the track while riding your H2R?
