Congratulations on being added to my very short list of YT producers who get a thumbs up before I even start the video. Who'd of thought someone could make a heat gun video both informative and entertaining? Well, Tito can!
I dont't usually make comments, I just could not resist. Man you're so down to earth I love you. I love that you did not EDIT out the 12:47 where you held the hot nut and it scorched you. We all do that by mistake...🥰😛😃😄 Learnt a lot from this video. Thanks.
What a great video! Thanks for taking the time to make. it. My sweetheart would've loved this, especially the loosing of bolts. I would've never thought of crayon working like that ... Amazing! God Bless, Jul
You're my favorite content creator I didn't really grow up around any adults who used tools and my parents never really maintenanced anything themselves. Now as an adult I'm wanting to do things myself but I'm finding that I know nothing about how to do things on my own. I can't afford to hire someone to do things for me so I've been so overwhelmed with how ignorant I am to repair and maintenance and how things function. Your channel has helped me not feel so hopless I'm always learning things from you and smiling at your commentary. I'm so grateful for your videos, thank you 🙏
I have my heat gun handy in the workshop for warming my hands , My workshop is to big for a heater 3000 sq metres but every now and then a blast with the gun ,, warm as toast , Great vid Brian Rob NSW Australia
Good tips Tito. I have a similar Harbor Freight heat gun, but I often forget I have it. My bad. But I just used it the other day to remove a label. I hate Home Depot bar code labels on their hardwoods, but heat gun works good on them.
Well done Tito, first time commenting on your videos. You are one of the few RV life video producers that are not full time focused. I love my RV and love being able to take care of it.
I have a couple of heat guns but I've only used them for heat shrink tubing. Glad I came across your video because I never thought of using them for anything else.
Twenty years ago I started roasting 400g batches of coffee using the “HGDB” (heat gun dog bowl) method, and am still roasting coffee (2.5kg batches) here in NZ(using a larger hot air roaster). Now I have more uses for the HG!
Brian , I so love seeing your videos . The install videos and how too's are always informative. Thank you for your contributions. You have taught me much. The recent response to my message on my challenges with my NEW Class C were awesome. I added sway bars and got some SUMO springs and my RV handles better , i have not finished with my suspensions needs yet but working on it. Next to add an inverter and Solar. You inspire me , Thanks Again
Wow, Brian, I'd never considered putting a heat gun (like yours) in my toolbox; think that's gonna be changing soon! Great tips; would love seeing more in the future (other similar tool uses, as well). Thanks for sharing. Y'all Be Safe!
Great tips! I hadn’t thought about using a heat gun for some of these projects. I don’t have an RV but I do have a sailboat. I’m subscribing. Yes to more tips & tricks. Thanks😊
While there is no real substitute for a full size heat gun (and I have a couple of differently-sized units for home use) I find in my space-limited RV toolkit that I prefer a butane-powered "heat tool". It can be used as a small heat gun (and actually works better for small wire heatshrink) and it has soldering tips. There are a number of such devices available; I personally have a Portasol Super Pro.
That was some uses that have never occurred to me, good episode. My heat gun more of the minimal variety tho with just 750 and 1500W and no nifty attachments but it will get by. They are also good to defrost your RV fridge coils.
Hi Brian. Great video. Something I have found with my heat gun is it helps stuck bolts to combine the heat with penetrating oil or spray. Also, if you know that a bolt is set with thread locker, heat can help soften the lock-tite. Then apply firm and steady pressure with the correct tool. It has worked for me every time. Please keep the great content coming. 👍
Also good for making those hard to get PVC pipe sizes for shop dust collection systems. Just cut a wooden mold or form to the size you want, heat the PVC pipe and put it on the mold or form and let it cool.
I love my heat gun as well; I agree it is an excellent bolt loosening tool. I also use it for defrosting my RV fridge. I can defrost the entire fridge in less than 10 minutes then start using it again. Just be very careful to keep the gun moving at a distance ( >12" from surface). Regarding other tool videos, I would love to see your collection of multimeters. Pros and cons of having multiple multimeters.(ie clamp and wire probe type)
GREAT video.... at least one use I had not thought of (the nut/bolt)...I went and ordered one.... great to see you back... start doing more videos... it's been a while.. :)
It has some uses for spray painting or applying body filler such as warming up the surface and drying it in cold conditions before applying the paint/filler. Also, if you spray clear coat in humid conditions it can dry in a cloudy state which can be rectified by blowing over the area with a heat gun the next day before it is fully cured.
Lots of great ideas here. I also use my heatgun to heat VHB tape before mounting, and it really helps with a great bond. I never thought of the amazon boxes, thanks!
I use my heat gun to remove the badges off my car and truck, I like a clean look and easy to wax without the emblems. in my younger days we had to fill the holes but now it is easy with a heat gun
The attachment you showed on the heat gun that directs the air upwards is the attachment that can be used to heat up tubing or shrink evenly all sides including the bottom without having to twist The Wire.
Awesome, thank you! Wonder if you could use the heat gun to soften the wood filling crayon... Probably can. I was literally yelling at the computer screen: 'Don't touch that hot bolt, Brian!!!!' He did. Anyhoo, such a great, clear presentation.
Hola Tito de La Isla! Tito is actually the name our kids gave to our little traveling dashboard mascot we have in our RV. Over the years, it has become my nickname as well :)
The curved adapter tip for the heat gun is used for heat shrink tubing to heat it uniformly around. Also you left out the electrical crimp connectors with heat shrink insulation.
I get major mileage out of my heat gun but thank you for reminding about adhesive removal. After 3 month long rv trip i have roof projects that will require eternabond removal and other odds and ends around rv. I use a cheapo from walmart with 2 heat settings
My heat gun is now in the RV. Recently struggled with stuck bolts holding propane tank protective plate under the coach. Din't want to use a torch. Heat gun would have helped🙄. Yes, tool reviews are always welcomed.
Whenever I needed a corkscrew where there were none I used a lighter to open my wine bottles 😂 I think the heat gun would be more sufficient for that too ❤
Shining shoes. Apply the polish, low heat to slightly melt the polish, cool and begin polishing. Or if you want to strip a pair of boots and begin again.
One more tip - toast cheese on top of bowl of French Onion soup. Yup, even uses in kitchen are practical.
Hahahaha, yes!
64 and still finding things I'm adding to my list of things to make and how to make it.
I want to see everything you have to say and show. Your straight forward talk and clear descriptions keep me coming back for more. Thank you!
Well maybe not everything :) Thanks so much for the feedback!
I really enjoyed the heat gun tips. I would like to see more videos like this.
Thanks for letting me know. I'll see what I can do.

I agree. Some of those labels on wood are a pain to remove. You have to sand them off.
This video was very helpful THANKS 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Wow, I've owned a heat gun for years and never thought of removing labels with it! Great video as always thanks Brian.
Gonna do that pretty soon actually. Thanks!

Thanks for commenting! Just the DIY here.
You can also reheat your coffee cup in five seconds 🔥😃 Great video Thank you!
Great tip! Gotta tey that. I'll make sure it's not in a paper coffee cup 😆
A heat gun is also good when applying VHB and other tapes. Warm it up, roll it and it sticks much better with no air bubbles.
Huh. Thanks for that one. I'll have to try that.
Always love your content. Some of the simplest things can still be amazing if you never thought of them before.
Yes that's certainly true. Love finding simple solutions. Glad you're enjoying the vids.
This was a great video Tito. Never really used a heat gun and wasn’t going to watch this video originally. Good info.
Glad you circled back to it :)
This was a very welcome video for me to find, never having used a heat gun until now. Thanks, Tito!😊

Nice. A bit of heat does the trick.
Always a joy to see your ideas 💡.
Thanks.

Love it…just bought my husband a heat gun!

Oh right 🤪 I rarely use those since I just grab it and plug it in.
I did like your show though and have subscribed. I gave you a thumbs as well.
Or to apply heat shrink while protecting something in proximity.
The 90-degree deflector is to shrink plastic tubing primarily for electrical uses.

Excellent! I had no idea eternabond tape could be removed this way! 👍🏻
Loved this video. Great tips and tricks. Definitely getting a heat gun
Another informative video. 👍👍 now I'm going to buy a heat gun.

Please do a playlist, if possible, explaining the useful and unuseful sprays and liquids
Thanks in advance
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll consider it.

No problem 👍
Could you do a video on the basics of how to use an electrical meter for testing rv wiring? As always-you rock👍
Brian -- GREAT video!!!
Glad you found it and liked it. I can't really say the "G" word in the title without UA-cam censoring the video :(

Man of all trades. Great info. Maybe off topic...What do you use to remove water spots on the rv windows. Maybe as another video? 🙂
Hmm. I usually just wipe them off pretty well after washing if I don't want spots. I'm sure there's a better way.
You have an excellent microphone
