Slovak MiG-29 fighter jets take off to land Ukraine

- Ukraine is in the process of receiving 13 MiG-29 fighters from Slovakia as part of the military support for the country's Air Force. Each plane is of extreme importance as they are needed to achieve air superiority during counteroffensive actions. Watch these beautiful shots of combat planes taking off from their airfield in Slovakia for one final time. As they will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine when they land.

@@contemporarymonk I wouldn't group those three states together. China is already looking on siberia (quite of bit of that land was stolen by the russia in the past) and it is also attacking India. There are a skirmishes between China and India! China occupies quite a bit of India land!
Also Both China and India do not help russia- they are using the situation to get cheaper resources from russia. But that is all.

I am continually astonished by the resilience of the Ukrainian Air Defense and Airforce, the very fact that Russian cant detect and destroy Ukrainian airbases and their air-frames on the ground is just pathetic and something everybody should mock the Russians for...
Many things can be said about Soviet engineering, but Mikoyan MiG-29, NATO reporting name Fulcrum is one beautiful warbird. Now it will be used to bring fear of lawful government to upstart member of glorious Soviet family of nations.
It looks nice, but is a POS compared to Western aircraft...

Those jets and the ones from Poland have been modernized to NATO standards so should be able to use western weapons like HARM missiles and JDAMs bombs.
It's a start, but Ukraine needs more fighters to take on Russia.

Good to see. In autumn, I guess, there might be some elderly F16s on their way from Denmark (my guess, but politicians seem positive when new F35s are delivered and Ukrainian pilots trained for F16).

The speed at which new military pledges like tanks from Norway have been followed by rapid deployment.....tells us that the counter attack is coming in the next 2 to 4 weeks for certain..
Russia is extremely week right now.....Any benefit that would be had by waiting til May would be more than offset by Russia's time to prepare.....

I saw your pledge for Hornets.
I asked partners, if an option is: land leasing F-35 to Finland for the coming 2 years.
I wish it wasn’t, but stocks and money do play a role.
We are waiting to see a certain threshold being surpassed, when Ukraine takes out X number of enemy assets, the multiplying factor for Western wings, becomes more cost effective.
When you start shipping multimillion dollar aircrafts, for free, this even influences inflation in Ukraine and Deflation in the EU.
If they are retired planes that were paid for years ago, they no longer harm a nation's national wealth if given away. It is different with newer aircraft that are still in service with the Luftwaffe. These have to be replaced with new purchases from industry, which doubles the cost. The state loses the value of the existing aircraft plus the cost of replacing it. In this respect, it is cheaper if the industry produces directly for the Ukraine and we finance it. The only problem is that the industry is pretty busy.

This value leaves the country, while the amount of money remains the same.
Thus less goods can be bought with the remaining capital. This is when expensive assets are given away for free.

It was a transfer flight. You can't put weapons in those planes because of international treaties. Like that Ukrainian Sukhoi which landed in Bulgaria. They returned it but without armament.
