I was 6yrs.oid when I first saw Superman! My grandfather passed that year (1957) Time really flies, but no one does it better than Superman! Always will be my hero in Truth& Justice
The scene where Lois and Jimmy are flying is from episode 104, called " All that glitters". In it Lois and Jimmy dream that they have Superman's powers and arrest the villains them selves. After they wake up, Clark Kent comes by. Jimmy tells him all about the dream , then asks Kent " Gosh, Mr. Kent, don't you wish you were like Superman?", and Clark states " Don't we all, Jimmy, don't we all", This was the last episode of the series # 104.
Yes. Absolutely. I used to rush home from primary school in the early '70's to catch it. I was thrilled when they were released on DVD, and bought all six seasons. My other chilhood heros were Batman with Adam West and The Six Million Dollar Man.
Yes, George played Clark as a real person. Christopher Reeve played Clark as a comedic device . That's why George was praised by the New York Times for his portrayal of Clark Kent.
@@ActionMediaProductions -- Actually, I agree. The B&W episodes had better scripts. The color episode I reference had a killer script as well as glorious photography. My opinion, of course.
My favorite episode is the one where Lois and Jimmy are trapped at the bottom of a pit for the purpose of luring Superman to rescue them. Then ... tiny bits of Kryptonite are showered on to the three of them. No spoilers here.
I think "Adventures of Superman" was the first major TV series to be filmed in color, at a time when less than 10% of homes had color TV yet. Did they expect the show to run successfully in reruns years into the future?

God I love that theme. Its such super charged feel good theme. I'd like to hear a modern day orchestra perform it but not steer away from the original feel.
Yes, the opening theme is one of those iconic compositions that is recognizable in the very first bar. I've never been able to find an orchestral performance of it, just the inferior movie composition by Williams. I did read that there is no written score anymore.

Something about the only one I ever knew of, N.N., always bugged me about her, and I could never identify what it was...never found her particularly attractive, even as a kid
@@intercommerce After Phylis Coates left after season one, the part was offered to Noel Neill because she voiced Lois Lane in the original radio shows. She was already familiar with the part. Although most fans relate to her the best, I had a preference for Phylis, even as a small kid. Season one is the darkest in terms of drama. By the time season 2 came around, it was becoming more geared to children.

What really put George Reeves in a class by himself is his playing Clark Kent as a regular guy, one you'd like to hang out and shoot pool with. His Kent was normal and understated enough that no one would connect him to Superman, and he didn't need to over compensate with the bumbling clod routine. Best of all, George had the vision, the presence of mind, and the acting chops to pull it off. He is missed to this day.
Budget concerns maybe. That and the last time George Reeves did wire work the wire broke. So he didn't do anymore, instead relying on jumping to off camera.
Before the 2 Supermen merged back together as 1 shouldnt 1 of them dressed as Clark while the other stayed as Superman so they both could meet Lois at the same time? Which would convince her that Clark and Superman are 2 different people.

Kirk Alyn was the first choice for the TV show but he said Superman had ruined his career. He had been a serial star before. He did 2 Superman serials. He was muscular and trim waisted unlike Reeves that was tall but wore padding to appear muscular. Reeves was allergic to the rubber padding so he could only stay in the costume for about 30 minutes. His stunt doubles were all muscular and spent 12 hours a day in the costume with no padding.
Ever notice that when changing into his Super outfit, how slow he is for someone with Superspeed. This was corrected in Chris Reeves portrayal. Superfast changing.

George was the Greatest Superman and Clark Kent of them all. Play them they way they should have been played. The role fit him.
