- Christopher Reeve told ET how romantic comedies inspired about his approach to playing the Man of Steel in 1978's 'Superman.' In this 1987 interview, the late actor, who portrayed Clark Kent and his alter-ego across four movies, reflected on the superhero's cinematic legacy. Following his death in 2004 at age 52, the newest cape wearer, Brandon Routh for 'Superman Returns,' explained to ET why Reeve's performance made audiences fall in love with the character.
RIP Christopher Reeve.
Even in a wheelchair, you have the strength of steel, Mr. Reeve.
Sorry, but really upset at his fellow Americans calling him Reeves. It's Christopher Reeve.
@@MartyMcFly3 Sorry, Mcfly. I didn't know you are Biff.
The one and only Superman. Don’t care what anyone else says. Fly high Christopher Reeve.
EDIT: Took the unnecessary and WRONG s off the end of Mr. Reeve’s name. I apologize to Mr. Reeve & all offended! ♥️
He IS Superman
Sorry, but really upset at his fellow Americans calling him Reeves. It's Christopher Reeve.
@Broken_Cracka Dito
There are multiple great Supermen
Christopher Reeves is forever Superman
It was so sad that Dana passed shortly after him. Both were so nice. Dana always had a smile on her face.
The BEST ever to play the part of Superman! God bless you Christopher Reeve! You are sorely missed.
Just that short scene with Clark laying there grinning with the bullet in his hand is nostalgic & epic.
With his super ability to break the 4th wall....
RIP Christopher Reeve.
He's very articulate and such a handsome guy.
Christopher Reeve will always be remembered as superman
Well Rear Window was good but he was in a chair then.
This is the Original Superman , the real GOAT! he will never be surpassed!
Growing up watching Superman was exciting! My imagination was working for this movie and he really existed on tv as the real story of Superman and how he grew up and how great he was!! To this day when I rewatch Superman the music and sound effects give me chills like my mind remembers this hero and has the childhood memories being brought back to life!! It’s still very powerful to watch for me. When I found the Richard Donner version of Pt2 like 15 years ago I froze in the store… i grabbed it and went home and watched it right away!!! That was a great day like this movie was reborn and I wasn’t used to it but it was great and I love it!!! RIP SUPERMAN. me and my brother (rip) grew up inspired by your movies!!!
45 years already? I feel old
Best Superman in every aspect. Played by a great actor.
Nope. He was just ok.
One hundred percent the definitive Superman

This interview was way ahead of it's time
Christopher Reeve is the best Superman actor, and he is still irreplaceable...👍
Absolutely true Christopher Reeve was the number one Superman and always will be may he rest in peace
Great actor, the definitive Superman for all times. RIP, Christopher and Dana Reeves.
The last name is spelled Reeve.
Huge fan of Christopher Reeves Superman. I remember watching his superman movies all the time and never getting tired.
Rip Christopher reeve 😢😢😢😢
I watched the original Superman movie on December 17, 1978 on my seventh birthday in San Antonio.
Wow, that must have been one of your happiest birthdays ever!
Damn...
It's Christopher Reeve everybody, NOT Reeves. The Original & the Best SUPERMAN.
The ONLY Cinematic Superman.
This is really bothering you isn't it?
Netflix's needs to make it available to see all classic superman movies man i miss them.
En HBO MAX está toda la saga , justo ahora me las estoy viendo todas ya voy por la cuarta
Grew up with this guy as one of my heroes. Loved the movies, loved the characters, loved the era. RIP to Christopher and his wife Dana.
The *BEST* Superman ever🥂🌠
I sure hope they’re flying together now, rip to these wonderful actors, reeves will always be my favorite superman
*Reeve
@@MartyMcFly3 🤓🤓🤓sorry for a typo
@@MartyMcFly3 🤣🤣🤣 I think if someone says Reeves one more time your head might explode.... REEVES REEVES REEVES....
My dad is 45 and he looks like Superman.
There will never be a better Superman then Christopher Reeve never
None of the modern superhero movies have awed me like this movie has.
For me it was Christopher reeve Clark Kent that set him apart from the others that came after him
And the fact that none of the trash after him are playing the CHARACTERS from the actual comics, none of them. They're all homicidal maniacs with the personalities of snowpeas.@@stephensearles673
He was Superman.
Miss u SUPERMAN.....
Truth, justice and the American way??? Superman where are you!!! We could really use your help right now😢 🗽
He is my one and only super man!!!
He was 35 in this interview
Más poderoso q una locomotora más rápido q una bala señores el único verdadero y original superman Christopher reeve q en paz descanse
The Donner movies are the ones to own.
Was freaking out thinking this was another Mandela effect where he's still alive. Rest in peace to the one true Superman even after his accident dude was an inspiration to so many. Don't know what happens after you die but I hope he knows what a great inspiration he was to so many and is in a better place
THE BEST. THE ONLY ONE. THE CLASSIC. UNQUESTIONABLE. UNFORGETTABLE. SPECTACULAR. I'm brasilian. As a child, my late father took me to the cinema to watch SUPERMAN, the movie and years later SUPERMAN II: The Adventure Continues. To this day I am still moved and believe that Christopher Reeve really came from Krypton!! hahahaha
Descanse En Paz Gran Actor Christopher Reeve. Vivirá Inmortal en sus Películas. Entrevistas. Extraordinario Actor. En Octubre 2024. Cumple veinte años de su fallecimiento. Ejemplo de vida. Superman.
Rip Christopher D'Olier Reeve, you will be missed
For me it's still the best SUPERMAN. He had charm & humor with a seriousness and coolness to it.
Superman 1 & 2 are terrific. Part 3 only has a few good moments like Superman vs Superman. Oh, that brings back childhood memories. Unfortunately, part 4 was terrible.
And the SOUNDTRACK is still one of the best of all time.
For me, Christopher was also a SUPERMAN in his private life. How long he suffered until his death. Just sad.
Superman III is worse than Superman IV, at least Superman IV showed his true personality.
Superman 4 was diabolical, I'm sure I've seen an interview where Chris said the same thing (thereabouts) due to a change of staff/director or budgeting or something. Superman 3 was considered a bit odd as it became a vehicle for Richard Pryor, but he cracked me up in it so I can't really fault it.
@@nelsonhibbert5267 The film had difficult moments while shooting. You can read it on Wikipedia.

Very handsome
Thankyou.
Someone who I always thought would have made a great Superman was Clint Walker in his heyday!! He played Cheyenne in a western series long ago.
My childhood hero.
The scene in the diner after he gets his powers back.... One of the best in Hollywood!!! And when he crushed general zods hand still gives me goosebumps
“And over the last few years we have heard a lot about something called ‘family values’. And like many of you, I have struggled to figure out what that means. And since my accident, I've found a definition that seems to make sense. I think it means that we're all family. And that we all have value.”
Christopher Reeve, speaking at the Democratic National Convention in 1996.
What a Super Man.
45!😊😉🎉
christopher reeve was the best and the only Superman
This is older than you like if so… appreciate history.
Christopher Reeve was actually really funny

Not seen more handsome man….maybe Elvis in his prime. 🤔
I never watched one of is movie ,I was 6 when that movie came out , when I came to New York I watch supergirl and I love it , then Smallville love love it .

Oh no... my brain INVOLUNTARILY jerked when he said, "They WHEEL him into place"
... I apologize...

Superman is an Alien!!

great choice by richard donner i guess. christopher reeve is really a great actor. hope may Allah forgive him.
Forgive him for what?
Salam Aleykoum forgive him for what

We can't do that kind of Superman love story again these days. The uprising anti-woke brigade will have a fit if any rom com is injected into Superman.
And that's just another reason why the homicidal maniac-brigade shit movies make NO MONEY. lol. Superman is the OG SJW, woke comic characters, so maybe they shouldn't even watch them in the first place.
Christopher Reeve is blonde?
He's dead, has been for 20 years. He had blond-ish hair in real life, it got darker as her got older.
@@radicalreactions1633It was director Richard Donner (RIP) who actually picked Reeve for the part (of SUPERMAN) and he said, upon auditioning Reeve "Chris had sandy colored hair and was 30lbs lighter, I gave my glasses to wear and he looked so much that part it was unbelievable ". Reeve was very unknown upon the audition .
ET are you aparting. Why arent you talking aboit demilovato marriage
Now
Make like is ok
Peop is easy
Superman = Son of El
Son of El = Son of God
Son of God = Jesus Christ:
Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? John 10:36
