Again, I had no change log being shown on my iMac. It just said Sonoma 14.5 - Restart Required, but didn't say what was in it. Did that with 14.4.1 as well. It also put it in the other updates are available category
I have the 14" MBP M1 still running Monterey. I do not need the new functions. Would you still upgrade to Sonoma?
just bought a mac mini m2 pro base model. came with sonoma 14.0 right off the box. So far i am liking it. First time using macOS.
But should i update to 14.5? won't have any potential issues later?

It still does not solve the unmounting of HDs according to some users. Sonoma has a big problem randomly unmounting drives cause havoc.
Yes, me too. As soon as I update to 14.5, my external USB drive was gone even though it showed on Disk Utility. I'm unable to mount or eject. Reformatting the disk and risk erasing all the data on it is completely oput of the question since I have important files in it.

On macbook air M2 I noticed it uses less Swap memory, way less. But the temps are going a bit up.
The gonna fix the bug the has Macs eating mechanical hard drives, or no?
After the update I lost my Apple RGB color profile, is there any way to get it? I am currently using SRGB profile. Apple RGB was much better. It would be nice to get it back. If anyone knows do let me know. Thanks

after the earlier mac sonoma update there are lot of problems. the siri and spotlight feature was always fine. but it's very faulty now.

my DSLR is still not recognized in this update. All iPad and iPhone apps won't recognize it but native apps can. This wasn't the case before Sonoma.
Did they fix the problem with iMessage not syncing with iCloud? I've been missing texts on my laptop and iMac ever since updating to 14.4.1. I can't get iMessage to sync on my laptop...System Setting>Internet accounts>iCloud>Apps Using iCloud>Show More Apps>Messages in iCloud>Sync Now.
I'm so happy to feel good about watching the macOS videos again! Mac mini M2 512gb has a nice spot on my desk. Feels good to have everything centralized once more. Can't wait for more videos! Wooo! /endbrag (sorry)

So the new update will replace the old update on your mac.
They overwrite the old ones typically.

Not touching Sonoma until the considerable issue about it damaging attached ExFAT drives is resolved.

@@dyannemedina6250 exFat is a Mac and Windows compatible drive formatting scheme. With Sonoma, Mac was wrecking and making very difficult to access people's drives that had exfat format on them

You forgot to mention that on this update, MacOS now supports clamshell mode without having to plugin your charger which is required from the past to use clamshell mode.

Hi Aaron, are you aware if the QuickTime screen mirroring crash fixed in this release. For those unaware there is a serious literal show stopping bug that has been in macOS Sonoma since its introduction, whereby video playback via QuickTime on Apple Silicon based MacBooks while connected to an external monitor in Mirrored mode causes the entire OS to freeze and become unresponsive, audio will continue to playback but all visual will be frozen. The user then has to hold down on the power button to forcibly shut down the MacBook. I have been personally having this issue on my M1 MacBook Air since installing Sonoma. I and others have reported the bug to Apple and have been patiently awaiting a fix, but so far no such luck. I have been holding out until the official release of macOS Sonoma 14.5 before re-installing macOS Ventura (which ran flawlessly) and sticking with that until the next version of macOS is released.

Found the first bug already, if you connect an iPhone to your MacBook then go into Finder and then go into locations then go to the phone, sometimes the check for update button is not format correctly and says check for upda ! 😂😂😂 bug has been reported along with photograph of proof.
I’m confused- You state trying to remove a device from Find Me, forces it into Repair mode? So how do we Remove a device then?

Can someone connected to Apple PLEASE get them to create a Calendar option where month view shows SEPARATED months. Not just continuously connected. I find this very confusing visually.
Can someone help me? i don't know if its because of the update or if i accidentally changed something in the settings, but when i close my laptop and leave it for like 1 hour or less, it just kind of half shuts down (first time it happened it fully shut down) and closes everything and i have to enter my password again just like when i shut down the laptop. I downloaded the update last week. And i changed "turn display off on battery when inactive to never just for a while to do something with the screen not turning off. (but i dont think this wouldve affected it because i put it back)

Sonoma is terrible. I’m still unable to unhide films. I keep getting the message that the in order to access that feature the latest version of MacOS is required even after having updated it to MacOS 14.5.

I wonder when they will fix the issue that has been persisting with users since sonoma was launched last year. Many users have reported their computer completely freezing while playing videos on QuickTime. What a ridiculous thing to worry about while using your laptop live for work.
Basically updates on things that are not really relevant, or not even available in my country (news)..

My browserbench 3 score increased slightly with this update now getting a score of 37.2
Here's a bug they haven't fixed; MacOS Sonoma does not allow you to be signed into separate accounts for App Store when using a MAID.

WARNING!!! DO NOT try updating on an older unsupported iMac (2012) or Mac mini. It's very unstable! Had to downgrade to Ventura on a different disk partition. However, so far it's stable on older unsupported Macbook Pros (2009 & 2012).
Ha! I just updated an M1 Max Pro laptop, and watching this video, when you said "important security updates" your vieeo stopped, and Seri opened on the laptop and asked me if I needed anything. LOL! Apple software on every device is so full of weird bugs, pretty much since Covid, they need to just stop developing anything and everything and fix their stability issues instead. This, was truely weird. My home was completely silent except for this video playing. 🙄
I haven't had as many hang ups since 14.2 with my Mac Studio M2- I still have font issues on my M2 and my M1 when copy and pasting text across programs. I also still have issues and hang ups when replacing files. These are issues I never had with my 2012 IMac that I used for a decade. Rotten stuff apple.
I updated my MacBook Pro M1 to 14.5 yesterday , and while I love my MacBook , one annoying little bug was many many times I have tried to use Apple notes app on my MacBook and it would be unresponsive, and I’d go through all the usual pain of trying to close it down , again Unresponsive, then I’d try to re start the whole machine , at which point a dialogue box would pop up saying “ can’t shut the machine down because notes won’t quit 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂, lol so from there I would cancel the shutdown and find the force quit option to kill Notes 😂😂😂😂 , notes would then shutdown and I’d re start the machine hoping to alleviate whatever annoying demon possessed notes on the MacBook . Then I’d open up notes and it would work 😊.
The very next day I’d try to open up notes again and OMG we start this process all over again😂😂😂😂.
I might add notes worked perfectly well on my iPhones and on my iPad.
I tried notes on my MacBook after watching video Aaron and Woo hoo , it not only started first time, but it was like lightning loading up …. Hopefully this is the new norm .
The weird thing about this notes bug at least on my M1 machine is multiple updates have been done, and every time no joy ….. until now , hopefully it stays that way.
