When, will you explore the CS rating? My granddaughter is a junior in high school and wants to enlist as a CS. She got a 77 on the ASVAB.
I am planning on joining the us coast guard after high school. I have 2 more years of school left .

Me too. I'll have 2 years left once school starts. I'm going MSRT (Maritime Security Response Team). I can't wait to join >:D
But I'm still trying to decide if i should join after high school or after university (cus ya know, higher rank which means better pay) :v
Edit: before making my decision on joining the CG, i actually considered all branches. I wasn't like "oh I'm going with this branch cus it's the best and everyone else is trash". Nah everyone, i actually looked up and considered all of them. For example, i thought to myself "if i were to join this branch, what do i wanna be?". And i did it to every branch and i ended up with the USCG. I was looking for something more specific and the CG caught my attention when i heard about the MSRT. And boooom now I'm on fire to join up soon🔥🔥🔥
My local recruiter is 3 hours away.
"For me while i was in Florida, I had to drive an hour up to Tampa..." Well I have to drive 5 Hours to new Orleans to see my recruiter.

I have been on the journey to becoming a Coast guardsman for about a month now and I finally went through my first day of MEPS. Unfortunately I’m having to deal with some medical issues from when I was five years old. Wish me luck on getting accepted! Thanks for the great informational videos:)

Can you do a video comparing officer to enlisted, or interview an officer about what their day to day job is like. Also your videos are great and very informative and give a lot of insight into what it is actually like being in the US CG.

I'm currently a senior in college and I want to pursue a career in the military. I've mainly been interested in either the Air Force or the Coast Guard.

My son does first(?) swear in Thursday and is shipping out June 11th, two weeks after graduation. Your videos and book have been very helpful. Truth above about medical records, routine appendectomy two years ago required COMPLETE medical records from hospital. His recruiter is excellent, it's just not a speedy process.
I am currently in the process of talking to a recruiter and should be off to MEPS very soon! Thanks for all the great videos that have helped me prepare so far!

You gotta want it. The Coast Guard is the best. You have to use your brain, demonstrate that you can accomplish something, follow through. Do it. Any idiot can join the others.

Should I ask my recruiter about reasonable religious dietary accomodations before going to meps? Or who do I ask about that? Am a practicing buddhist and follow a vegan lifestyle in line with buddhist teachings (please don't leave nasty comments about veganism, I'm genuinely curious)

I’m getting so nervous I have MEPS in a week and I’m so scared I won’t pass for some reason cause my records were transferred from the Air Force recruiter🥺 idk we’ll see how it goes
UPDATE: I made it through MEPS and chose HS as my job. I ship out April 6th!

It’s been an interesting journey trying to join. I’m currently waiting for a medical waiver. I anticipate to join but I understand the Coast Guard is picky with recruites. Best of luck to the other recruties joining!
Do you think it would be possible to get a waiver for old self harm scars? Mentally nothing is wrong with me and my medical record is CLEAN. No disorders or anything.
I don't want to waste a recruiters time just to find out I can't get a waiver.

@@REAPZ18 It's 4 years (or you can do 6) active duty, then you would be placed in the inactive reserves (Not in uniform) for 4 or 2 years.

A secret is.. you need a decent credit to be able to join the coast guard. Do your research. This is some bs but they use your credit as a loyalty to the coast guard.
